Be careful. Shows can be fragile! 

 

Anyway, this is the pitfall of basing ones enjoyment of a show on one character, intentional or not. If that character isn't written how you would like ... no fun. I'm certainly glad that for all my Rarity adoration that I've never gone so far that I can't enjoy the show if it meets all my expectations if her role doesn't impress.

Hey I'm down for anything for Spike as long as his character is developing healthy enough. It's just, he's barely doing anything new at all, and also, he doesn't have a family whatsoever if he's not being treated like one from the Sparkles. I mean how do you think he feels about that? Most of his friends have a family, what does he have? Just Twilight? It's better than nothing but still, he could have a bigger one!

na i dont think he'll be replaced. it feels to me that their focus this season is working starlight into the mane group. im sure spike will get some love next season ^-^

In the final act rescue attempt at Canterlot where Twilight is being held , Capper and the Mane Six sans Twilight are facing the Storm Kings goons. Capper reminds Spike he is a fire breathing dragon. Spike roasts shit up.

And weren't you the guy that called me out for predicting that Grand Pear was Pear Butters dad using that same angle that I just didn't know? How'd that turn out?

Hell man, I think with my general track record you would kinda know I don't just pull stuff like that out of my ass.

I really hope Spike is in this episode, the promo was worrisome. In the very least the should explain why he isn't with the Sparkle family, like he has some sort of alternative plans or something.

That's actually a legitimate question though: Who DID set up the trip? her parents say in the promo they didn't ask questions.

Someone over at ponychan made a joking theory that actually might be interesting and kind of makes sense: Maybe the pony of shadows was the one who invited twilight's family and there might be an attempt at taking out twilight at some point on the trip?

Nah man. Remember season 4? Twilight gets super Protagonist priority dibs for her plotline episodes--- the FINALE ITSELF will be her legends episode, just like the Tirek episode was Twilight's key episode.

Sadly, I do feel that starlight does steal alot of spike time; She's basically twilight's new assistant, so she kind of ends up muscling him out alot (Fame and misfortune for example would have worked perfectly with spike in her place)

Actually, for this whole season(heck even Triple Threat) Spike has had it good, he came out unscathed in Fame, didn't make a fool of himself in Mane thing and even got to tell a story to all the sick foals at the hospital. As for Triple Threat, well being an ambassador is hard work, plus he close friends with Ember and Thorax, who didn't love that big hug and cooing that Thorax gave his two close dragon friends?

I really dislike this mindset that the writers can't use the characters they want to. If they decide to use Starlight over Spike, she isn't "replacing" him. I think Starlight could have had an amazing role in Marks and Recreation, but that doesn't mean Thunderlane "replaced" her there. I'm starting to feel like Woody in Toy Story, NOBODY IS BEING REPLACED!

Hey guys. Maybe we should wait until after the episode has aired before pronouncing gloom and doom. We don't know for sure that Spike's not going to be in it.

Plus also I'm getting the vibe that people don't really get what the angst is about. This isn't about screen time, or whether Spike is well treated, or a badass. This is about answering one of the biggest, most important questions in MLP history.

Is Spike family, or is he just a favored servant?

This episode is the hinge that all the Twimum and Twisis fans have pinned their hopes on, and it doesn't look good. Come Saturday they will on the edge of their seats, hoping for the best, fearing the worst. Some, it appears, have thrown in the towel. Others still hold out hope. So what will it be?

Mmmmmhhhh I might have an idea of the direction this episode goes with:

Twilight is thrilled by the idea of passing a vacation with her whole family but then things didn't end how she expected as she has to deal with her fans. And since she was very looking forward to have a simple vacation with her family (which is understandeable since they see each other very rarely), she ends being disappointed and she ends up not having fun, no matter how her fans seems to try letting her having a good time. But then her family exorts her to try to be more open and enjoy the vacation despite things not having gone like she expected. Better enjoying something for what it offers than rejecting it for what it doesn't offer...... mmmmhhh... this reminds me something...
