Rose fell to the floor and watched as he shattered the knife, she started to try to figure out how to survive and what the clues were, if she can make him slip up, then might be able to survive this. She thought about the cut that he got, if she was able to get her shadow in and expand it, might win, but it would be dangerous. When mason came at her, she rolled to the side, as she covered the wounds with her shadow, and brought her arm up with it covered in her shadow to deflect it and give her more time. Maybe she could try and have her shadow with the pieces inside it act a brake.

Mason wasn't saying he'd given clues during the fight, rather that his sporting behavior spanned over the entire week.

The shards left of the Etherite dagger where still sharp, but they looked so small it would be tricky to use them to cause a fatal blow. The lack of sunlight was another problem, so Rose would remain at a huge disadvantage unless she managed to get the sun to come out.

Mason's blade struck the ground where Rose was standing, creating a deep fizzure in the concrete, but he quickly recovered. "Still able to dodge after all that? You have  earned your place in the finals." He said. He planted his rear right hoof on the ground and the stage beneath it started to crack. "Guess I won't be able to make this quick."

Rose saw the gesture and jumped back, getting ready for Tenebris to come out again, she wasn't going to fall for it again. She hopped into the sky, wondering if she could open up a hole in the clouds for a bit of sunlight to come through, even through she never really tried to. She had to do something. She started spinning towards the clouds to create a circle of light to cast onto the stage

Now that he thought about it, Copper did hear what Onyx said before he fully lost consciousness.  "If only I was the one who... what?"  He had to think long and hard.  "Win?  Face Rokata?  I'm guessing the former.... I just hope he can master his technique, and become stronger."  He looked at Team Rokata, specifically the big brute lying unconscious.

He looked at his fore-hoof, and started focusing a bit.  If anyone was watching, they could see something akin to a crystallized ground around for a split second before it instantly vanished.  That took a ton of energy to use, and it left him on one knee after, panting.

Rose was a pegasus, so she should have the ability to move the clouds, but she opted to create lightning with it instead. Topaz leapt off the stage just in time as a bolt of lightning struck near where Mason was standing. The whole stadium was bathed in light and a booming crack of thunder. The flash of light disipated as quickly as it appeared, but it took Topaz a while to survey the damage as her eyes and ears readjusted to the now calm atmosphere.

She squinted and looked over the side of the ring. "Well, That certainly was a rush, but you get what you paid for in the finals..." She said. She blinked when she saw what had actually happened.

Mason was standing in the center of the ring with the Tenebris entity floating above him. The ground beneath him wasn't even charred. The lightning never actually struck the ring because it was blocked by the demon's body before hitting the ground.

Rose sat down on the clouds rubbing her eyes, trying to get them to see again. This time she'll try to just pry them apart. Her shadow formed due to her being above the clouds, her shadow claws gripped the cloud and made a massive hole in them for the arena to have a circle of light  on it. She sat down to catch her breath.

Tenebris swirled above it's host and then returned to Mason's body. He squinted to look up at the tear in the clouds Rose created. "Having fun up there?" He asked with his chin raised. "I know what you're doing, but it isn't going to help. You've forgotten that I've destroyed your weapon."

Rose looked down at Mason and said, "It beats smelling your bad breath." She started to plan a strategy out for a final attack, she might have to take a hit or two to be able to, but it will worth it, if it works out well.

Topaz got back on the stage and squinted up at the area in the clouds where Rose was hanging. "Rose is still up in the air and doesnt look like Mason can get to her, but it's her getting back in the ring that's gonna be the real problem!"

Mason smiled up at Rose and silently paced on the stage. "Planning to use your shadow dome technique, Rose?" He asked, kicking the sharp broken shards of Etherite away from him. Some of it landed in the grass.

After a little bit, Copper stood back up, having recovered from whatever he thought was a technique.  Probably was something stupid, he didn't know, but he turned his attention back to the fight, trying to figure out what the hell Rose was doing.  If he were fighting Mason... well he'd have to beat down the pony in order to weaken the Tenebris.

Rose stood up and sighed, this is it, the fight will end here and now. Jade allowed a smirk to cross her muzzle from hearing Mason's frustration. "As I thought. Whatever Mason is, he has a frail ego."

She watched Rose closely. "Perhaps he thinks he is the only one with such powers at that level. But Rose is better than that. She just needs to be smart."

@DwhitetheGamer @reader8363

Dynamo turned his attention away from the fight to slightly glance over to Jade. He took notice of the smirk as his mind began to process what his captain had just stated. "Rose is very smart and clever in her abilities and techniques. I don't exactly know how Mason can be damaged without the weapon she was given, but maybe she can use Mason's ego against him." He gasped slightly as he began to catch onto the idea at hoof. "Mason is bound to make a mistake or slight miscalculation. If that happens, the Rose has to capitalize on that." He whispered, so as to not give away a potential plan.

He turned back towards the ring to see Rose flying up towards the clouds hanging above the entire arena. "It looks as if she's trying to move the clouds out of the way. It makes sense given that a Pegasus pony can move and shape clouds, while controlling the weather pattern." He noted, but Dynamo wasn't truly sure if his assumption was correct. He had learned a bit of each pony race in school. However, his teachers didn't go into too much detail of a Pegasi's full potential of weather manipulation. While his teammate was moving the clouds, a bolt of lightning had struck the stadium ring. Dynamo jumped back from the initial strike, while closing his eyes at the bright light that was given off. As he opened his eyes, he placed a hoof to his ears as he tried to stop the ringing from the loud cracking sounds.

"That was way too close for comfort. It's like I could feel my mane standing on end from that lightning." He shivered slightly as he knew the lightning bolt was possibly accidental, but it was very close to hitting both sides. He looked back up to see Rose, who was using her shadow to pry the clouds apart to let the sun's rays shine. 'What's she trying to do with using the sun?' He wondered as he tried to think the meaning behind Rose's strategy. "I think I get what's going on." He pondered, before continuing. "If she lets the sun shine through, then the sun's light to increase the power of her shadow. Effectively giving her more strength and range in her attacks. Although, would that also help Mason in the long run? They both use shadows, but maybe their shadows have different properties." The blue unicorn shook his head as he wasn't sure. "I wonder if it would be possible for her to get another lightning bolt to appear. The loud crackle and bright light could catch Mason off guard. At the same time, the flash of light could quickly make her shadow become strong enough to possibly overpower Mason." He watched as Rose went with an alternate plan, while using a slingshot to catapult her directly towards Mason.

"This is it. It looks like Rose is going in for a final attack. This has to work. It just has to. You can do this Rose." He whispered, while taking notice of the shards from the weapon being formed into a spear. 'Does the shards from the broken weapon have transformation properties? Whatever the case, this could be just what Rose needs to turn this fight around.' He thought with hope as Rose continued to fly and make her way towards Mason.

Shining Armor and Quill watched Rose descend, standing between Copper and Dynamo. It looked like things were drawing to a close for the second round, but Mason didn't appear worried about Rose's assault. If the Tenebris got what it wanted, this fight would be dragged out much longer.

"Come on..." Shining Armor said under his breath.  "We've already had enough bad news. Just let this work!"

"Rose is crashing into the stadium like a meteor!" Topaz announced. "But won't that just bring her straight into Mason's claws? What is she thinking?"

Mason looked up at Rose while she descended, having to squint to avoid looking directly at the sun. "A final charge?" He asked in a condescending tone. He tilted his head and thought, She wants to die quickly and honorably? We won't be allowing that.

Then he noticed the shards of Etherite raising from the ring and the grass, floating in the air to form a spear in Rose's hooves. He opened his eyes wide and took a step back into a more defensive posture. Impossible? How is she even able to do that? Life energy? He eyed Rose, moments before she would collide. Yes, of course! She wants both of us to die! We won't allow it!

The shadowy entity swirled around him. The head of Tenebris appeared and let out a shrill roar as a it shot out a tight cone of sharp tendrils at Rose. For her to hit him with the spear, she'd have to get hit by the tendrils as well.

Rose closed her eyes before impact and the tendrils left a gash down her throat, and lodged itself into her body, close to her heart. The magic that was stopping the bleeding started to weaken, letting a bit of blood leak out of the holes. She felt the spear penetrate his flesh and opened her eyes to see that it was where his heart would be, then she fainted due to blood loss.

As Rose quickly descended towards Mason with attempt at a final attack. Dynamo's ears perked as he heard Shining Armor muttering something under his breath. He would have been surprised to hear the captain of the guard and Prince of the Crystal Empire to act in such a state. However, with so much riding on the line, the blue unicorn knew the severity of the finals. As Mason got into a defensive stance, the gaming stallion's eyes shrank in worry as the Tenebris let out a shrill roar. "What in Equestria is going on? Is that the Tenebris's true form?" He asks, seeing a cone of sharp tendrils being formed to look like a drill spiral. "It looks like neither side is going to back down from this. This is really it." He waited with baited breath as Dynamo had hoped for his teammates victory and safety.

Jade leaned forward, biting her lip. If that was the demon's true form, it was certainly quite a presence.

"The risk is almost too great," she said. "It would take a miracle..."

Mason watched his tendrils pierce Rose's chest, shoulders and legs, scewering her with what he thought would surely be a fatal wound. He beamed a wide smile, her body suspended in the air above him with his tendrils hooked into her chest. "SCORE!" He cried, watching the consciousness fade from his opponent's eyes.

But the rush of exhilleration he usually got from such a kill didn't come. He felt... cold. Blood dripped at his hooves and he realized it couldn't have been Rose's. He wanted to ensure the kill, so he tried to dig his tendrils deeper into Rose's flesh to pierce her heart and brain, but he couldn't find the strength to do it. In fact, his hold on her weakened. "Wha-at's happening? Why can't I..." He stuttered, feeling the muscles on his host body weaken. The tenebris' eyes shifted down and saw the shadow-formed spear of Etherite sticking into Mason's heart. It was loosing it's connection to this world. "I feel so cold..." Mason said.

The tenebris demon relenquished its grip on Rose, and she fell to the stadium floor. Then the shadowy beast swirled around Mason, its body appearing malformed static. It let out a shrill cry that echoed through the ring, then it disappeared, relenquishing it's hold on the dying body it once used to return to some other realm, leaving the earth pony behind in front of Rose's unconscious body.

"Rose is down, so I'll start the ten count!" Topaz said, rushing to Rose's side while Mason was still standing. "ONE! ...TWO!"

Mason slowly looked down at the spear in his chest, sweat trickling down his chin. His skin started to wrinkle and dry. "Oh..."

The earth pony aged rapidly now that the only thing keeping him alive was gone. His skin sagged off his body and his bone structure became more and more defined as he looks more and more akin to a skeletin covered in skin. It slowly raised its hoof and pointed it at Rose while he stumbled toward her. He opened his mouth but his jaw turned to dust, then his whole body was rapidly reduced to dust.

"Eugh!" Topaz viscerally reacted to Mason's sudden transformation. "Uh... That probably doesn't need a ten count, but since Rose was down first, she needs to get up before the ten count or the round is a double loss!" She explained before continuing her count. "THREE! FOUR!"

Okay... that was the exact LAST thing that Copper expected out of the outcome of this match.  Seeing Mason completely disappear like that made him cringe hard, since he had never seen anyone die the way Mason did.  "Damn," he said loudly.  "Of all the weird deaths I've witnessed as a mercenary, Mason's death is by far the worst!"

As Dynamo looked on, it looked like it looked like it was all over for Rose and their team. It seemed as if Mason had made the final strike to end the match, but something caught Dynamo's attention out of the corner of his eye. Mason appeared to be shaking as he looked to where his heart was. The blue unicorn blinked in surprise as Rose had landed her attack in the last moment of the match. Once his teammate had fallen to the stadium floor, Dynamo winced as he heard the Tenebris howl that echoed throughout the area. It was then that Mason's skin started to wrinkle and dry, before the Tenebris left Mason and disappeared. "What's going on? Why did the Tenebris just vanish like that?"

The gaming stallion's question was answered as he saw Mason begin to age rapidly. Seeing the state Mason was in caused Dynamo to feel sick to his stomach. He had never seen anything like this before, but it still didn't look good to witness. As Mason opened his mouth, he crumbled into dust and was whisked away into the wind.

Dynamo turned to Jade, who had explained the results of the Tenebris leaving its host. After listening to the explanation, the blue unicorn thought for a moment and nodded. "I guess that's why Mason had crumbled into nothingness. He's had to have lived for almost a millennia like in the information we were given. Maybe more, but that's not the point. It's as if time had finally caught up to him. It sort of reminded me of an anime I once watched. One being had an mortal body, while another was practically immortal. The two had fused, which caused the fused being to lose that immortality." He shook his head as he still felt that he couldn't wrap his mind around what had just happened. "That Tenebris really was a parasite. Keeping it's host alive, until Mason served his usefulness, or when its own life was in danger." He looked over to Rose, who still looked unconscious on the ground as Topaz continued the ten count.

Rose could hear her teammates talking, and Topaz counting, but couldn't bring herself to wake up. It seemed like she was sinking in a vast ocean. No matter she could tell that her magic ran out and her blood was slowly pouring out. She accepted it and fell more into unconsciousness as her senses started to dim.

To say that Copper was getting impatient from that ridiculously slow ten count was an understatement.  He wanted, no, NEEDED to save Rose from this.  He had to go on the arena circle the absolute immediate second the count was up, and it felt like forever.  He was worried for his teammate, and he was going to try to do everything he can to make sure she's alive.

Jade's reaction was a departure from the way she acted during the unjust match with team Lockdown, and Shining Armor noticed that she was starting to act a lot more like how Tricis would have. Perhaps she was trying to fill the gap she left, or maybe Tricis really had an influence on her.

It was difficult to hear Topaz's ten-count of the the roaring of the crowd, still shocked by the result of the fight. After several counts, it was clear that she wasn't going to be getting up.

"SEVEN! EIGHT!" She slowly called. "NINE AND.... TEN!"

The crowd roared.

"Rose loses by ten count, Mason loses by death. The second round of the finals is a double loss and there is no update to the scoreboard!" She announced.

Jade looked over to Copper, seeing the impatience in his eyes. She opened a wing, holding it in front of him where she sat.

"I understand how you feel," she said, "but we cannot interfere."

Copper closed his eyes the moment Jade opened a wing to calm him down, and heaved a sigh.  "You're right." he said.

Well, that was before the ten count finished, and when it did, he looked at Jade and asked, "Now?"  He was used to asking for permission.

Jade took a deep breath. Her team was still down by one, but Rose managed to give them a chance.

She looked at Copper and nodded.
