Do you think the general public has a negative opinion of bronies?

I know that you're probably thinking that this is similar to a previous topic I made called: "Why do people hate bronies so much?" But I think that this topic is a little different than that. I was planning on posting about this, but what REALLY got me motivated was that my mom jumped down my throat for voice chatting with some fellow users on Discord. She told that I'm not allowed to talk to them because "they could be criminals", or something like that. Not to mention, she said that they also could be "creepy perverts", even though I tried to inform her that the vast majority of bronies aren't. But then she replied: "Well, there is a REASON that people think that they're weirdos!" I hate to admit it, but I feel like she brings up a valid point. I can kind of see why bronies have a bad rep. There are a lot of I guess you could say "radical" bronies on the web, (Even though I'm pretty sure they're the minority.) Like I remember some bronies were... not happy with the fact that Twilight got wings at the end of season 3, and some supposedly threatened the writers with death. (How disgusting... :unamused:) Not to mention, MLP... should I say... "adult" artwork is very common on the web. Whenever I typed in a certain "kink" on Google Images, I got a LOT of results related to MLP. Not to mention, I've heard a lot of angry parents complain about how their child looked up MLP characters on Google Images and got... let's just say "not child friendly" results, which meant they had to explain about "love" to their children. I guess I'll put it that way. Not to mention, whenever I had an MLP profile pic a few years ago, a lot of people jumped down my throat and called me very harsh things. I won't repeat what they said as I am trying to keep this post SFW. Also, I remember when I was a member of cleaning crew at my job, a girl came out of one of the theaters and saw the MLP Movie poster and said: "The My Little Pony movie? Give me a break!" And she said to one of her friends: "There are some grown men that like My Little Pony!" I wasn't surprised considering how much pony stuff there was on the internet for a while. Back on the subject, Fox News covered bronies a few times, and I think they called them "weirdos" or something. Though to be fair, I'm pretty sure a lot of Americans don't trust Fox News. (If the latest political leaning poll I read is correct.) I could go on with many more examples, but I don't wanna bore you or make the post too long. What do you think? Do you think think that the general public views bronies negatively? Let me know! :)

Still within the same general wheelhouse as your prior thread but since it hasn’t been that soon I’ll allow this one.

The general public ignores us for the most part, thanks to many many more things that have caught their attention. I will also bring to your attention that anecdotal experience is far from statistically significant data.

Yeah, this is mostly anecdotal evidence. And the kind of thing that happens with every fan community at that. Kid's parents get concerned about who their kids are talking to on the internet regardless of whether they are bronies or not. Adult artwork is also in every fan community and there's a standard to have it tagged as mature so that the kids can't see it just by Googling it, they need to actually log into an account on a site that allows porn and lie about their age. It's not the artist's fault that Google screwed up or that kids will be kids.

I wrote an article about this before.

③ Why MLP fans are mistaken

The reason MLP fans were widely mistaken is because it provokes the idea of manchildren, pedophiles, and homosexuality. I know. It's bulls**t. Reasonable people don't have any problems with grown men watching MLP. That means only idiots have problems. I think the reasons for them are those. Because it's a grown up person watching a kids show. And it's also a fantasy utopian land of escapism with no pain (or filtered pain). That's seemed for the manchildren who can't deal with the real world.

Then the pedophile part is, 'a manchild would have a sexual interest that meets the same age of the underdeveloped mind'. Which means, 'if you watch a cartoon for 9 year olds, that means you are basically a 9 year old, and just like how 9 year old boys have interest in their fellow girls, you would too'.

The homosexual part is even weirder. It's mostly a bigoted misconception of homosexuality, I presume. Being gay is mistaken with being feminine. For example, look at Bill Burr's stand-up comedy when he talks about men constantly teasing each other about being 'gay' when they remotely show feelings or just wearing an umbrella or put fruits on pancakes or something. It's two things. You either are the toughest bastard on earth that has no weaknesses, or you are gay. Watching My Little Pony? You are defini tely gay. To even delve it deeper, some might think the only possible way for a man to love a man is to become a woman inside or resign his masculinity. 'It's a girl's show, so a man watching it would be a woman inside, thus he will have interest in men, thus makes him gay'. I don't know what the hell is that, but that's my understanding of the whole misconception happening in their minds.

Honestly I think it's ridiculous to think bronies could be weirdos, obviously there's always the select few individuals that fit that term but that could be said with other fandoms like the furry fandom etc, the same goes with the art, a common saying on the internet goes, "if it exists There's art of it" which may look worse depending on what it is for example bronies might get more flak because the art is based on a child's TV show, while something like mortal kombat would be overlooked because it's based on a more mature franchise which may change people's perception towards those fans

Now I'm not one to use the term "toxic masculinity" but I think it has some context here for years, upon years, boys have been told to man up and that they can't like things which are targeted towards girls and I think this way of thinking has been ingrained into a lot of people leading them to bully or target an individual which may break norms such as bronies watching mlp because it's unusual in their mind and overtime I think people have stopped caring to am extent as they've most likely realised how pointless it is to target people etc

Bronies have increasingly been going out of the spotlight. Yeah, people think we might be weird but they more over do it with Furries and Weebs more than they do it with Bronies these days.

I wouldn't know, they either go by the stereotypes or choose to ignore it. Both I couldn't care less about.  However, based on my own experiences, the way I see it there's the brony group and there's mlpf group. MLPF group > Brony group. I've seen bunch of annoying oversensitive bronies outside MLPF.

I think yes. Why? Because idiots want to spread bullshit to make fun of people they don't like! It's so annoying, you get tired of it overtime and you wonder if it will ever stop but it'll never stop because just like how the furries are treated, some idiots in the media spread those lies and all that nonsense to start drama.

I think the general public's opinion of bronies leans towards the negative, viewing us as beta males and perverts. That would be a wrong view of bronies, but I think that's how the general public views bronies.
