Cursive

Do you use cursive at all besides occasionally signing your name?

I was thinking the other day I've pretty much forgotten how to make a lot of the capitals the way I learned in school so I looked it up. I'm guessing cursive is on the way out.

I don't use it aside from signing. I guess writing in general might be on its way out. I haven't written anything substantial in a long time in general. It's actually sad.

I really only use it for my signature. Other than some of the capital letters I can still write and read cursive, but honestly it seems kind of pointless.

I only remember enough to write my name but I never learned how to do it quickly so I technically still sign in print. I just do it so fast while hardly lifting the pen off of the paper that it looks kind of cursive, and I make tall letters just a bit taller for added flair. My school began and ceased teaching me or anyone after during the 3rd grade. My handwriting has been influenced by my mother's which is also this half cursive type of text but only when I get a flow going.

Currently I'm working with a good number of people who are about 25 years older than me on average maybe? And not only do they write everything in cursive but my boss actually took a calligraphy course so his is super consistent and fancy looking. I can usually read it fine but I have to admit I struggle sometimes.

Cursive? You mean CAPITAL?!!1

No, cursive is how people wrote with quill style pens. When you don't lift the pen off the page when writing a word, so the letters are connected together. It is so hard to read.

Oh I know.

I forgot about that word because I have been using Italic too much. Also, I so use the word script for that kind of writing style. But of course I remember Cursive from school :LunaMCM:

The main reason is that it's faster to jot things down without lifting the pen.

Cursive is a beautiful writing form and shouldn't be abandoned. It's actually quicker than printing and I imagine that's what it's original purpose was. It's unfortunate that it seems so underused now, and I hope it continues to endure despite it's decreasing use. I use it as much as printing, about 50/50.

I'm surprised no one uses cursive in English:huh:

I only use cursive, I can't remember the last time I printed (actually I can't remember anyone printing).

I don't really use it in signing either. My signature has devolved into a scrawl that not even I can put down consistently. I'm glad digital signatures are becoming a thing more and more. My handwriting is abysmal no matter what kind of writing I use, so while I can still more or less write the cursive I learned in school, I generally don't bother.

I don't use it except for my signature, but I still can write in it no problem. I even still remember all the capital letters.:P

Oh neat, i'm in the minority!

Yeah, i'm going to be the one opposite case again! I've actually gotten stuck in only doing Cursive and nearly completely forgotten how to do PRINT! Like, the only time I use Print form is when specifically required to do so for forms and i'm just tight-gripping the pen in my mitt like somebeing stabbed it through my pseudopod (because a hand is like a False Foot, of course*) and i'm using it like a chisel to carve into wood. Considering how hard i've been known to press down while writing, that's likely.

I was durn-burn hardwired that Cursive fancy letterin' raght inta me! It feels so unnatural and painful to NOT flow the letters into each other! I ONLY do Cursive! And with pencils too, because pens are crummy devices that break after two uses. Or because i'm concetrated bad luck and have yet to use any complicated device without emitting black, cursed smoke from it.

*Much in the same way a foot is like a false hand... ...what? Don't @  me on my logic, bro.

Beatings & Salivations Everybeing!   Creativity is something blatantly important to me as is no doubt evidenced by the 28 OCs I have posted here of the some forty plus I have, they're linked altogether at the bottom of my About Me page in my Profile & I would deeply cherish anything you wish to say about them! Among which of those I am proudest most of is my Draconequusona, His/My Ask Thread  and my Hydra, Gallimaufry or "Mauf" and their own Ask Thread!  Either way, sufficed to say, I am quite confident I have more OCs than you! Crazier to! Do You have a tatzelpony?! No, I rather think you don't! Hew-Hew-hew!

I love cursive writing. It looks so elegant and graceful. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that it’s slowly disappearing from the world. Like so many artistic things it’s being replaced by the simple, inarticulate and mechanical. Cursive is easier to write than printing, but I don't think it's taught as widely as it once was. A loss.
