Fluttershutter 2,505 October 11, 2020 Share October 11, 2020 Do you use cursive at all besides occasionally signing your name? I was thinking the other day I've pretty much forgotten how to make a lot of the capitals the way I learned in school so I looked it up. I'm guessing cursive is on the way out.
Ittoni 538 October 11, 2020 Share October 11, 2020 (edited) I don't use it aside from signing. I guess writing in general might be on its way out. I haven't written anything substantial in a long time in general. It's actually sad. Edited October 11, 2020 by Ittoni
ExplosionMare 18,079 October 11, 2020 Share October 11, 2020 I have written my name in cursive so much that I use it even if I’m just putting my name on a non-document paper. It’s a lot more fun that always printing my name. 1 Boom!
Cagey 4,248 October 11, 2020 Share October 11, 2020 I don’t use cursive as much as I just scribble without taking my pen off the paper. Close enough.
O-78 28,607 October 11, 2020 Share October 11, 2020 I never use cursive apart from signing. I don't really remember how to write any cursive letters other than the ones in my name. 1 Signature by @Mellow Mane
Early Sunsets 2,107 October 11, 2020 Share October 11, 2020 I really only use it for my signature. Other than some of the capital letters I can still write and read cursive, but honestly it seems kind of pointless. 1 Rainbow Dash Fanatic "You stroll down memories of younger, brighter times 'cause you never realize what you've got till you leave it all behind." ~ dBPony "So we’re here at the end, did we teach you well, my friend? SharpWit 2,699 October 11, 2020 Share October 11, 2020 I only remember enough to write my name but I never learned how to do it quickly so I technically still sign in print. I just do it so fast while hardly lifting the pen off of the paper that it looks kind of cursive, and I make tall letters just a bit taller for added flair. My school began and ceased teaching me or anyone after during the 3rd grade. My handwriting has been influenced by my mother's which is also this half cursive type of text but only when I get a flow going. Currently I'm working with a good number of people who are about 25 years older than me on average maybe? And not only do they write everything in cursive but my boss actually took a calligraphy course so his is super consistent and fancy looking. I can usually read it fine but I have to admit I struggle sometimes.

I forgot about that word because I have been using Italic too much. Also, I so use the word script for that kind of writing style. But of course I remember Cursive from school

DixonTheAdversary 1,632 October 14, 2020 Share October 14, 2020 I know I learned cursive in 4th grade and my teacher told me in Middle and High school that it would be required to write in cursive. That was a lie. So I only use cursive to sign my name.

Narcissus 355 October 15, 2020 Share October 15, 2020 Cursive is a beautiful writing form and shouldn't be abandoned. It's actually quicker than printing and I imagine that's what it's original purpose was. It's unfortunate that it seems so underused now, and I hope it continues to endure despite it's decreasing use. I use it as much as printing, about 50/50.
Vefka 1,499 October 15, 2020 Share October 15, 2020 (edited) I'm surprised no one uses cursive in English I only use cursive, I can't remember the last time I printed (actually I can't remember anyone printing). Fluttershyfan94 5,742 October 15, 2020 Share October 15, 2020 I mostly write by typing, so I don't really write a lot but when I do I typically do write in cursive both signature and in general. So yeah, I only write in cursive when I think about it that is. 2 DA: http://fluttershyfan94.deviantart.com/ Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/Fluttershyfan94

KatonRyu 1,033 October 15, 2020 Share October 15, 2020 I don't really use it in signing either. My signature has devolved into a scrawl that not even I can put down consistently. I'm glad digital signatures are becoming a thing more and more. My handwriting is abysmal no matter what kind of writing I use, so while I can still more or less write the cursive I learned in school, I generally don't bother. Widdershins 9,960 October 17, 2020 Share October 17, 2020 Oh neat, i'm in the minority! Yeah, i'm going to be the one opposite case again! I've actually gotten stuck in only doing Cursive and nearly completely forgotten how to do PRINT! Like, the only time I use Print form is when specifically required to do so for forms and i'm just tight-gripping the pen in my mitt like somebeing stabbed it through my pseudopod (because a hand is like a False Foot, of course*) and i'm using it like a chisel to carve into wood. Considering how hard i've been known to press down while writing, that's likely. I was durn-burn hardwired that Cursive fancy letterin' raght inta me! It feels so unnatural and painful to NOT flow the letters into each other! I ONLY do Cursive! And with pencils too, because pens are crummy devices that break after two uses. Or because i'm concetrated bad luck and have yet to use any complicated device without emitting black, cursed smoke from it. *Much in the same way a foot is like a false hand... ...what? Don't @ me on my logic, bro. Beatings & Salivations Everybeing! Creativity is something blatantly important to me as is no doubt evidenced by the 28 OCs I have posted here of the some forty plus I have, they're linked altogether at the bottom of my About Me page in my Profile & I would deeply cherish anything you wish to say about them! Among which of those I am proudest most of is my Draconequusona, His/My Ask Thread and my Hydra, Gallimaufry or "Mauf" and their own Ask Thread! Either way, sufficed to say, I am quite confident I have more OCs than you! Crazier to! Do You have a tatzelpony?! No, I rather think you don't! Hew-Hew-hew! Dreambiscuit 10,025 October 21, 2020 Share October 21, 2020 I love cursive writing. It looks so elegant and graceful. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that it’s slowly disappearing from the world. Like so many artistic things it’s being replaced by the simple, inarticulate and mechanical. Cursive is easier to write than printing, but I don't think it's taught as widely as it once was. A loss.
