She can became a mom too, I can imagine her with a son who has the same temper she has.

My imagined headcanon is that a few years down the line, all of the mane cast meet great stallions, get married, and continue living and learning friendship, except they're all bosom-friends with rings.

Then a year or two after that, they all sit each other down at lunch or something because they each have delightful news that they want their friends to hear. Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash start at the same time, but Pinkie then insists 'after you', and so Rainbow Dash is the first to say, "I'm pregnant!"

And, largely by coincidence, the rest of the friends admit that they were all going to say the same thing!

Twilight suspects her hubby did some kind of planning with the husbands for something like this to be even possible (hilarity ensues when she tries to investigate how or why six pregnancies could happen simultaneously). But otherwise then they all continue together into a new life adventure as six friends, in soon to be expanding families.

I think the first mom will be Rarity. With her shiny lifestyle I won't be surprised if she got a boyfriend from all of those costumers. And spike will commit suicide Pinkie, AJ, and Fluttershy will surely have their own foals in the future, but it will take a bit longer than Rarity. Twilight and RD will spend their live chasing their dreams as an Archmage and Wonderbolts respectively, so there's still a chance that they will wait until they're much older to get a husband. That's what I thought

At this point none of them are really ready to have foals, and some of that thinking is based around their flaws. Twilight is focused on responsibility, Fluttershy is too timid so starting a relationship with a stallion would be a trick, Pinkie too immature, Rarity and Dash are self centered at times and career oriented. Applejack seems to be focused on raising her sister and working the orchard, and something tells me that any serious relationship would be a long drawn out affair.

 

However, a large theme of the show is that each of the characters can grow beyond their flaws and learn from each other and themselves. Rainbow and Rarity connected with fillies, and Fluttershy has taken small steps to come out of her shell. So I wouldn't write off those three. When their journey is over, I bet they all make great mom's. That said, I almost see Applejack being the most likely to be a mom and succeed with less struggle, and would probably be the first. 

 

Of course if Cheese Sandwhich moves to Ponyville then it's Pinkie Pie by a mile.

I see Rarity and Flutty as the ponies who'll desire to have children the soonest, but between the two, I'd pick Rarity, from 5 years at the soonest, not 10. She has high standards of beauty, and it's no secret that she likes nice looking stallions. and she fantasies a romantic child book life with them. Flutty comes to a second, she likes children, and being the sweetest, motherly and, presumably, the oldest of the mane6. Pinkie comes next, since she also likes children. AJ next, despite that her life is pretty much settled, I don't see her as having a couple or having children her highest priority. Twily is a nerdy workaholic, and takes her friendship and studies above all else, I don't see her with foals anytime soon. Despite having mutual crush with Flash Sentry, I think they'll take a while declaring themselves, and more actually getting married, and a bit more having their first foal. Dashie...... well, is Dashie, I don't think she even thought of having a foal, she might have, or might not have one, but I'm sure she don't want any right now

Why are people saying Fluttershy?  Do you realize how much has to happen for Fluttershy to have a kid?

1. She has to fall in love and build up the courage to admit it to him.
2. She has to overcome insecurities to having kids (if she planned it).

All before outgoing Pinkie Pie, actively looking Rarity, family oriented Applejack, bluntly direct Rainbow Dash, and highly admired Twilight Sparkle have kids.  That's just absurd.  I'm not saying that Fluttershy won't have kids, just that it will take her the longest to be ready for that, compared to the rest of the mane six.

Fluttershy would probably be a good mom, but I think she'd rather spend time with animals than give her attention to a man pony, so I'm not sure that would happen.

Twilight I can see being very motherly.  Applejack maybe, she's pretty family-oriented.  So one of those two.

@Forlong, I think that people are focusing on one or two characteristics. They see nurturing ... and make the jump to Good Mom.

 

Fluttershy would need some more character growth first.

Actually, while I agree Rarity might be the first to have a kid ( although she can be workaholic which mean she might put having a family on hold for a bit ), there is another who might surprisingly to most people have a kid first, RD. Sure she would be active in the Wonderbolts but she would also be surrounded by a number of eligible stallions whom she is quite likely to respect ergo have a family with; so she might be the first to have a colt or filly. The remaining four... Flutters might become a mother down the line but it would take some time since she is well ... shy, she may also just decide to be an old maid that takes care of animals ( trying not to think of crazy cat lady from Simpsons... ). AJ is focused on the farm and the family she does have, so it would be some time for her. Pinkie... she might likely have a kid before AJ or Flutters, she is just younger at the moment but she has been maturing over the seasons I think. Twi she might end up being third inline as a mother due to be a Princess, but if she had never become an Alicorn or Princess I would say it might be likely she would just stay single her entire life.

 

So in short, my projection is:

5. Flutters ( if at all )

The one most likely to become a Mom, hands down, is Applejack. She is very family oriented, to the point of being a main caregiver to her sister, and loves every second of it, so she would be likely to start a family very soon after finding and marrying her special somepony.

 

Rarity has been actively looking for a stallion, but even if she found him, I doubt she'd start a family soon afterwards. She'd likely put it off until her career was on a very solid footing.

 

Twilight Sparkle wouldn't be opposed, but I suspect that anything to do with a relationship would have to be something that "feels right" to her, and she is in no hurry.

 

Fluttershy wouldn't be opposed either, she'd probably love to have children, but she has some anxiety issues to work through, first.

 

The only way either Rainbow Dash or Pinkie Pie are having children any time soon is by accident. Pinkie's seen how much work they are, and knows she's not ready for that full time. Rainbow likes her freedom too much.

I counted all the posts on this thread, and came up with these numbers:

Posts who predict what about a Maternal Mane Cast:

Rainbow Dash: 12 votes. Most predict that if she becomes a mother at all, she would be a late do-er, mostly on account of career ambitions and a lack of interest in romance as of yet. A small handful insinuated she would become a mother irresponsibly and only become married as a secondary component.

 

Rarity: 30 votes. Already demonstrated to be interested and able to apply herself to romance, there is generally little doubt that Rarity could potentially be a mother. All arguments against such bank upon presuming how easily she can be annoyed or disgusted as a permanent and inextricable component of her nature. Some of the people who argued this admitted that they themselves are not interested in having children. So take that for whatever that's worth.

 

Twilight Sparkle: 17 votes. Reasons exist both compelling and contrary to why Twilight would be a good mother or interested in that sort of thing, in approximately equal measure. No one says adamantly though that she couldn't or wouldn't, or provides many reasons for a lack of interest in possible future romance apart from bookishness.

 

Pinkie Pie: 16 votes. Nearly half of these consist of the suggestion that Pinkie Pie would become a mother due to accidental pregnancy from irresponsible partying, and/or use of alcohol or drugs. Personally, I find such a presumption punitively preposterous to Pinkie Pie's personality.

 

 

Fluttershy: 49 votes. More than 30% of the posters on this thread assented the notion that Fluttershy would be very caring and affectionate to a mate and offspring. Most other detail regards how the courting might begin, concerning the interplay of her timidity and assertiveness in different situations.

 

Applejack: 44 votes. Nearly the same as Fluttershy in terms of popular opinion for viability. Being very family centered, and social enough to likely find a nice stallion, there are not all that many who argue against Applejack being an excellent mother.

 

Four posters (including myself) voted that all six of the mane cast would get married and become mothers at some point in the future. Several more said that such a thing is possible but unlikely.

Pinkie's seen how much work they are, and knows she's not ready for that full time. Rainbow likes her freedom too much.

If I remember discussions on the mane 6's ages Pinkie is one of the youngest, so sure in season two there was the episode she was shown as not ready for caring for children, but I think she has grown since then; and if the way she acts around Maud or talks about her family in recent episodes, when she is ready she would be ready probably more than some of the others ( she has random items stashed around town in case of emergency remember; her RL counterpart would be the Mom with the Army grade medical kit at hand ), her youth is the only issue ( she probably is around 16-17 at most ).

And RD this season and last season she has taken a special interest in taking care of the young ones ( "Flight to the Finish" ). Plus she has started to show a great deal of character growth this past season. I suppose you could say she prizes her Freedom in a sense, but I think it's more along the lines of "she likes things on her own terms". And if/when she fell in love it would probably be with a Wonderbolt after being a member, and finding some stallion who proved himself to her in some way. After that her Loyalty combined with her impulsive nature would likely cause the relationship to progress very quickly; and I think she would be a very good parent as shown in her playing Big Sis for Scoots.

I personally picture Pinkie and Dash as the second youngest and the youngest respectively. I agree that, when she's ready, Pinkie will be really ready, but that won't happen soon (as opposed to Applejack, who would be ready now if she had found the right stallion).

 

Dash enjoys being a role model, no doubt. This differs significantly from raising a child. She's happy to lend a guiding hoof to kids who are around their early teens, but I don't think she'd be in anyway prepared to be a full time Mom from birth. She'd likely have an intense relationship early on, as you say, but, like Rarity, if it got that serious I think she'd hold off having kids while she focused on her ambitions.
