The only ones who do are trolls, they aren't true pastafarians (again, from what I've heard). The FSM was created as an argument for keeping Intelligent Design from being taught in school alongside evolution. It has, apparently taken on a life of it's own since those days. I would not consider it a serious religion, but rather an anti-religious movement. Though I'm certain many people "join" more because they find it funny than due to any serious opinion for or against religion.
