I apologize greatly if there is another topic like this, but that search function is so unreliable to me.

 

Anyways I'm sure a lot of you have watched any anime/animated series, but what is your favorite opening/song?

I really had to go with Mobile Suit Gundam 00, because I really like the Mobile Suit Gundam series for the action.

 

This song Daybreak's Bell also really grabbed my attention.

well this one is my favorite because when ever i hear it it brings on a nostagia rush because this was the first anime i watched

other then that i'll recommend the inro Ghost in the Shell's second gig , and every FullMetal Alchemist opening

 

now if you don't mind im gonna go watch all of Outlaw Star in one night

The best opening I have seen for an anime was the one for paranoia agent. That suited the show so very well and was quite the mental bend. Defintely not a my little pony anime tho.

 

 

The initial Bleach opening when they did orange range wasnt that bad either.

For an awesome opening to an anime series, it would have to be Soul Eater. By far, one of my favorite animes.

 

As for animated series, The Boondocks. For the intros theme never changes, just updates for each season and montage of excerpts of certain episodes to see and have seen makes it more interesting and eager to see what is next.

So fare on this list there are five of my favorite openings. These are good and there are a lot of other good ones, but I am going to go with an odd ball one that no one may have heard of. I am going with the english version to Nerima Daikon Brothers.

Probably every classic series opening that i used to watch when i was very young. For example, Futurama, South park, i just love those shows. (I used to love south park...)

 

AWWWW Yeah! The South Park series rocked back in the days of it's glory. I've got to say my favourite introduction out of all the 15 seasons got to be Season 5.

I watched the entire first season of Darker Than Black on my grandma's digital cable without even bothering to get into whatever fanbase it has, or even bothering with the show's, I dunno nihilist-y themes?

 

Whenever I browsed the free anime section at grandma's, I would most often select a show and then X out of it a minute later when I

 found out it was incomprehensible schoolgirl vampire crap.

My favourite Opening is from the show "Ano Hana".  It's a nice catchy song and it also gives a little bit of the personality of each of the characters, so you get to "know" them without even seeing the show yet! :3

 I have to agree with you completely on that. I grew up with Dragon Ball Z!  :P

 

I also like the opening for Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop because both openings are so badass! 

 

 

Let's not forget Ghost In The Shell! The theme song is so darn catchy!

Oh gosh, I was JUST thinking about this topic! :)

Although I watch the show in Japanese (because I can't stand the English dubs), the English version of One Piece has the best theme song of all time. I watched part of this show waaaay back when I was a kid...hearing this again after so many years was a nostalgic thing for me. (You can skip to 0:30 to get to the music. I personally enjoy the last ~30 seconds the best.)

I love those softer, fluffier anime openings where everything is overwhelmingly cute, but somehow not annoying. I think they really nailed it in Cardcaptor Sakura and Strawberry Marshmallow.

 

CCS' original opening "Catch You, Catch Me" was vague, telling us very little about the characters or the story that would surround them. Mostly it hints at Sakura's crush on Yukito, almost as if Sakura had sat down and written the lyrics herself. (The costumes and video editing, I'm sure, were all Tomoyo. :P)

But in SM (i.e. Ichigo Mashimaro), what I like even better than the opening is the ending. They're as different as night and day. The opening is extremely cheerful and bubbly, like it's telling the story of the four main girls, whereas the ending is very somber and restrained--as if the girls, now women, are looking back on their days together. If you're familiar with the anime, the song "Classmate" is such a contrast with the spirit of this slice-of-life show that it's kind of a tear-jerker.

Translated lyrics:

Best thing to come out of Japan I've heard, both the anime and the opening. Also it's the only anime I like :P
