What noise keep you awake?

Noxoy

Recommended Posts

I just got a new apartment and my fridge buzzes like crazy!

It also makes strange chirping noises like guinea pig.

Sometimes people outside my window keeps me awake at night,

and when I lived in a dorm it was the people in the halls keeping me awake!

So what keeps you awake?

and also any ideas how to hide the "noises" would me nice!

hm hm, I'm not easily kept awake by noises like crickets or construction or other animals or objects that make noise. so far, I've only been able to find two noises that keep me up: my dad snoring (SO loud x_x) and people talking (because I'm an eavesdropper :l hush hush). also, if there's a tv on where I can see it, I won't be able to sleep because I can't stop watching it.

All sorts of noises used to bother me when I was younger; even the tiniest little noise like a humming computer or crickets outside would keep me up for hours.

Now, I get very little sleep because I don't have the time for it; when I do, I'm so tired I could (and have, believe it or not) fall asleep next top an interstate highway.

This link goes to an Amazon search page for "White Noise Generator." The purpose is to generate a constant noise you can tune outr and it will cover outside noises. Some just sound like a fan. Others have the sound of rain or the ocean.

I used one at a friend's house, listened to rain all night. slept like a baby.

They run from $20 bucks to a hundred. My friend has the $20 dollar one, so you don't have to spend a lot.

This is for the expensive one. I'm putting this link in for the buttons halfway down the page. You can hear a sample of all the white noise. Rain is my favorite.

I'm not easily kept awake by random noises. But the thing that succeeds to give me insomina is the noise of a lone mosquito flying near me. It's unsettling and it has kept me awoken until I managed to kill it by swinging my pillow in random directions. It has happened 4 times already.

Mah Stupid cat. Stupid cat jumps into my bed and annoys me :< Then I shoo it away and it stares at me throughout the night O_O

Not as annoying as stupid Hedgehog, he's hard to find and keeps making scratching noises, then you find him in the corner underneath your bed.

The only common noise that keeps me awake are my dogs barking. I have such a messed up sleep schedule nowadays, yet it doesn't matter what time of the day/night I'm going to bed, one of them is always barking. lol

I'll sleep through anything nothing generally keeps me awake unless it's loud, a sudden noise that startles me, people having a conversation that intrests me or involves me, or I can't tell what the sound is.

For the most part, just the sound of someone knocking on my door; or my cat tapping on my window.

Although those are mostly my fault...I had to train myself to wake-up to those sounds. When I don't answer my bedroom door, people get mad. When I don't let my cat in, she gets mad [and although angry cats are cute...they aren't tons of fun.]

But along with those, I'm also training myself to pick up on other sounds in my sleep, like footsteps, or my own snoring. Footsteps, just because I love feeling like a ninja. As for the snoring; I don't tend to snore except when I have a bad cold and everything is blocked up, but I don't want to bug anyone with my snoring; so I want to wake up whenever I do so I can adjust my position and "open" myself up again.

But what do I know? I'm just a stupid kid.

You're being kept awake by people outside your window? People... lurking near your window? You might want to continue your search for an apartment if things are as I imagine them to be. Or at least buy a pistol if you don't have one.

Currently, there are no noises keeping me awake. But it's only sharp or repetitive noises that make it hard to sleep. Any droning sounds won't bother me or may help me to doze off. My computer is always running and the hum of the fans really helps. To be honest I don't think I can easily get to sleep in complete silence anymore.

Frogs, crickets, and that ringing in your ear are the most annoying things ever.(Sometimes the dogs in the neighborhood will bark, but not for long) But after awhile they quiet down, and then i go to sleep. :)

I live in an apartment building, and for some reason my neighbors over me are always blowing something up in their house. I swear, there is always some random noise at the night keeping me up.

I never really had a problem with noises keeping me up. Except from when my parents are watching TV loudly or when they won't shut the hell up.

Other than that, it's more about how much light is on rather than how much noise is made.

I am incapablr of sleeping if there is no sound. I dont know if Im crazy or what, but when there is dead silence, my ears have this loud ringing. It is enough to make me go insane If I have to listen to it. And besides I sleep eith a fan right next to my bed, blowing on my face, every night. no exceptions. It soothes me.

I'm a heavy sleeper. I've notoriously slept through severe thunderstorms. It always amazes my parents how I do it, but I just do.

I can sleep through any noise. I've slept through massive thunderstorms and my family is always amazed at how heavy of a sleeper O am. Now light? If there is ANY light where I am, I cannot fall asleep for the life of me.

Luckily not many things. My air conditioner makes an annoying, unfixable chirping noise that used to drive me crazy, so I can sleep through more noise now. It's still hard to fall asleep when the assholes in my neighborhood decide to blast out party music all night and shoot firecrackers though. It's also hard to fall asleep in complete silence since I imagine hearing things or end up straining to hear something..
