I'm an Atheist as well as an Anti-Theist. I believe that no good can come from religion, and instead of looking for the answers in religion they should look for them in science, and reality, and only believe things that are corroborated in fact, and backed up by evidence.

Right now I'm an atheist, but right now I'm thinking about weather or not I should start practicing Paganism just to piss of my parents. I come from a VERY Catholic family, some of my cousins are quiet religious.

Agnostic atheism. I don't believe in god but hell, who knows?

Honestly I don't really care if there actually is a god.

If there is then, okay, cool. Whatever.

If there's not, well okay, hurray for physics and science for explaining everything :)

Ok, well i would firstly like to say that Athiesm and Agnosticism is NOT a religion, its not a belief in something.

In fact, the entire word is useless, we don't say non-Archeologist, non-physicist, non-Chemist... so why should we say Athiest? It's just the fact that we don't believe in the deity because we are not provided with enough evidence to believe it.

But apart from that, i'm athiest... clearly wink.png

Religion is defined as: "a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe". So, you're right, to a point, but then that makes evolution a religion. Since I'd have to estimate 99% or so of athiests are evolutionists, it's really just become a synonym, of sorts.

I hope this doesn't sound rude, because it's absolutely not meant to be: The argument you used really just seems like a way to say "I'm different" while not being different.

FYI, I am an athiest, also. More on that, later.

Sounds like kind of a dick move.  Hopefully you're just kidding around, because how lame (and a waste of energy) would it be to fake a belief system for the sole purpose of biting the hand that feeds?

At the end of the day, simply rejecting Catholicism is more than enough to piss of a "VERY Catholic" family.  No need to spice it up with crystal waving or whatever nonsense you had in mind.  If you insist on pissing them off, at least do it for the right reasons: encourage thoughtful debate about what they believe and why.

Meh, I was sorta just messing around. To be honest, I'm better not having any religion at all. It's just seems like such a huge waste of time.

I was raised as a Christian throughout my whole life and I still am. I stopped going to church for a year because of some family problems but I still have my faith. I'm glad my family doesn't shove religion down people's throats. I have read about other religions and I have a respect for people that follow them, I hate people who argue over religion. It just seems pointless.

I BELIEVE IN THE ALMIGHTY CELESTIA~

All joking aside, I don't have a religion, as in I don't believe in focusing on religion at all (don't even consider myself an Atheist). Even though I was raised (sort of) to be Catholic, I never liked the church of Catholicism, though I won't go into why. If I WERE to believe in something, then I guess I would be in science itself. Learning about the universe and its mechanisms through facts and figures presented in current time. And I agree with what , arguing over religion is pointless and only leads to horrible acts.

I'm agnostic because in a world of unknowns and what if's, it is the only thing that makes sense. I choose to live for myself and do good deeds because they are the right thing to do, not because of the false threat of eternal damnation.

I suppose you could call me a bit of a adherent to the Greco-Roman religions. Those augers and oracles were amazing people, crazy smart and very worthy of respect. If you ever bother to read anything like Metamorphoses you will see how well those Romans and Greeks knew what they were talking about. I suppose a lot of Christianity, and Western culture in general, is loosely based off of the religions as well.

Atheist. My mum tried her hardest to raise me to be a Christian and my school reads out Bible passages every day, but (I mean absolutely no offence to any religious people here) I just can't believe in it. If I told my friends that I fed 5000 people with my sandwich today they'd laugh and say I was an idiot but they'll believe that someone else did it. huh.png

So am I the only one that's aware that Atheism isn't a religion...or even an organized belief system?

Myself, I'm a Christian. Why? Because it makes sense to me. And also, I like to be the primary example of how most Christians aren't loony missionaries that spend all day praying in front of statues in dimly lit rooms. We're normal and rational people too, my belief in God doesn't interfere with that.

all religion does is start wars and judge people and tell them that if they don't do what this book says they go to hell no questions asked.

Man.  A lot of Atheists.

I was partially atheist for about half a year.  Then I realized that really, humans are very limited in what they know about the universe.  We can only observe through the senses we are born with.  I have always sort of felt an ultimate resonating goodness/holiness since the time I was little.  One day, when my life was at an all time low, I started to pray.  Not just by talking and hoping the best, but from the bottom of what I believed to be my heart.  I started to put faith in the Abrahamic G-d and things started to look brighter.  I went back to the Catholic Church and felt at home.  I can never walk into church and feel different or discriminated against.  Its like a big family.

I feel like life is a test.  To see how we react to things (given that we have free will).

I was an athiest for about a 2 year period. The reason being I had recently learned about a lot of really awful things in school. Holocaust, Armenian Genocide, ww2. I thought to myself, what god of love could EVER let this happen? After certain experiences, I consider myself a christian again now (Protestant Lutheran). I very much so believe in spirits, and all of that kind of stuff. I also believe in reincarnation. I've seen little pure white orbs before in the middle of the night. Obviously these freaked me out. Were they good, or bad? I don't know. I was afraid because I didn't understand what they were. They make a very distinct noise, almost like an electrical static sound. I've seen these orbs 3 times, or so. They've never done anything though. Always just float there in my doorway.

One night about 5 months back or so I'd say, I heard the orbs but I couldn't see any. I couldn't fall back asleep, and I was kind of freaked out. I all of a sudden felt a warm liquidy feeling cover my whole body. It was literally the most amazing feeling I've ever felt. I felt pure peace, and love. I remember feeling it, and then falling back asleep within seconds. What's funny is my Grandma has also felt this feeling, and seen these orbs. Now, I've felt this feeling twice. I don't know what I encountered, but after these experiences I know we're not alone. There is a lot of stuff out there we don't seem to know about or comprehend, because we can't "see it" like can everything else. Weird stuff. So yes. Basically I'm a christian. Yup.

I'm a protestant lutheran, just protestant, I don't really talk too much about religion. The reason I believe is just that I want to believe, it gives me hope. It may not do that for others but that's how I feel about it. I'm not really that religious though. I don't really follow all the commandments, I'm not really living a christian lifestyle and I don't go to church often, kind of a sinner. If I would take it too seriously I would be going straight to hell. So I believe and there have been events in my life were my religion helped me go through them.

The thing is, I have already done way too many things to make sure I'll go to hell, so I just stopped seeing the point in taking it too seriously. I take the religion seriously, I just don't fear heaven or hell. I just live by my religion, like following the golden rule, I don't care if there is an afterlife or not, who cares.. Darkness, heaven, hell I don't care. It played a big part in my life and is why I have always tried being nice to everyone I have ever encountered, except my enemies.

But you know, I know where I'm going.. happy.png

Still if not, that would be great. Would love to just spend eternity with a Lamborghini Aventador or being in Equestria.

Officially im catholic, im baptized, i go to church every once in a great while, i take communion. Unofficially, i am nothing. Not to he confused with atheist. Religion or lack thereof is simply not a meaningful part of my life and i rarely if ever think about it (though studying religion as an academic subject is undeniably interesting). I dont care what others are either, so long as they arent pushing it on others (this goes for both religious folks and atheists).

Also, inb4 euphoric. Or maybe after, im not going to read all the way through a 1000 post thread

I am an atheist, because to me there is too much evidence supporting a less simplified way of creation. I believe in the Big Bang Theory, and also that universes form from miniature versions of this explosion. I also believe it could've happened several times.

How is it possible to get something out of nothing?

Simple, there was actually never nothing. It was just spread several times over the history of Outer Space. (I don't say the universe, because i believe in multiple universes, I think likely 100's maybe even 1000's exist.) And after a few "Big Bangs" It became something through chemical bonding. Nebula, rocks, started to form. And the most recent? Spread space it out the farthest. Even less than 1% of 1% of 1% of 1% of 1% of the mass from everything would be our galaxy. But, I digress.

Yes I am an athiest and that is because there is a more reasonable explanation for everything than the man in the heavens that somehow obtained supernatural powers.

Just kidding. I knew that there are so many atheists in the Internet, but I didn't know that it's this many. laugh.png

On topic, I'm a Muslim. Born as a Muslim, and still a Muslim until now. Honestly I didn't really understand about any of its teaching until two and a half years ago. That time I was learning Buddhism. The teachings were so pure and clear, to the point, and made sense. Short story, I began seeing the world from a different perspective. The neutral.

I'm a man who learn Islam and Buddhism. My religion (Islam) doesn't interfere with science. I do believe in God, but not in the way my fellow Muslims do. Just say, I believe that we're in a one big mind. I see religions as guide lines. I don't care about religion traditions or myth. I don't care about what religion do you label yourself as. I don't care if you're an Atheist. I don't care if you worship a flying pasta meatball, or Mouseline cereal box. We're human being. We have humanity. Our actions can help each other. With love and compassion we can make a better world, no matter what your label is.

Saying that you God exists or not, which religion is the right one, quoting prophet's words, or similar things is a waste of time. That doesn't make the world a better place. Action does. Spread goodness. That's all.

I'm Catholic. But no offense why did you put a bunch of christian religions and then put Christian it's self? 'Cause I didn't know which one to choose so I chose Catholic.

well... wasn't sure what to put since I prob don't fit into a category.... but I put spiritual since that seems to cover anything.

I believe in God... but not the god of the christian church which I believe is the god they want him to be rather than the God who actually is.

it seems to me that the religion that any given person believes MUST be the right one perfectly correlates to where they were raised... funny how that works

I'm an Atheist, as though that was hard to work out XD
