I'm assuming you mean Windows vs Mac OS X? Mac hardware since 2006 has been using the same x86 architecture PC's use making them essentially PC's with a different dress and OS. In that case i prefer neither and prefer to use Linux on my machines. If you mean Apple Hardware vs PC hardware then i defiantly prefer the Openness of PC hardware.

This reminds me of Mystery Science Theater 3000, when Tom Servo and Crow argue this too, on episode 304 Gamera vs Baguron. Granted it is in the early nineties; this still funny to watch.

The one thing I don't understand with this question is that PC stands for personal computer. It's like asking, "what's better; an orange, or a fruit?"

It doesn't make sense.

And to answer the OP's question, PC. I strongly dislike Macs. I find them difficult to use, hard to tinker with, and hard to upgrade.

Better is a matter of opinion. Whoever says macs are better for school work obviously doesn't realize pc is much less expensive than macs and that students generally want to spend less money. As far as value for money goes, PC takes it. With gaming, PC takes it. With video editing, guess what, PC still wins. The only thing apple still has is their logic pro, their current customers, and those stupid enough to think macs are easier to use than PCs. I know I said it was a matter of opinion but I changed my mind after trying to think of more than one way a mac would be better.

Hello , I have merged your topic about whether or not Macs are better than PCs into a previously existing topic designed for the same purpose.

Additionally, I have replaced your poll with the poll in the original topic, as it is more detailed.

Please make sure to run a search before posting a new topic to ensure that it does not already exist. Thanks! :)

I greatly prefer PCs to Macs. I have only had a limited experience with Macs, but I was not a huge fan of their interface. I know Macs work well for many people, and that's great, but at this point in time I am going to continue using PCs.

I'm seeing a lot of people say macs are better for production based work. In what manner exactly? What about OS X makes it more suitable for content creation? Is it available applications? Adobe CS is available for windows, Lightworks is cross platform and I haven't heard anyone complain about having to use SONAR for audio production. This isn't 1995 anymore when macs actually had an advantage both in the OS and in available software.

So I ask in all seriousness, what makes a mac better for content creation than a PC?

I can neither confirm nor deny myself being the cause of electrical related malfunctions. Anyways, you wouldn't happen to have a jar of replacement magic smoke would you?

As a network admin/security tech........i prefer PC over Mac.  TBH, im not a fan of Mac, b/c god forbid something goes wrong with it, i rather repair it myself.  Ever since the computer itself looks more "rounded" it prevents you from fixing it.  While as for PC, you can build it from scratch and put whatever you want with it.  Basically:

Mac = User-friendly (entertainment)

PC = Techi-friendly (work, tech, school)

P.S - I've also used Linux (Fedora) as well as UNIX (Pegasus, to be specific).

I have both a PC and a Mac. Both have their flaws. I find the Mac better for school presentations and digital art, and the PC better for gaming and goofing off. So I'm a fan of both. :)

Well here's something to think about.

You know the apple logo? You know why there's a hole in the top corner? Well that's because windows bit off apple

Linux > Mac > PC. Macs are overpriced though.

I saw in somebody's signature somewhere (probably not this forum) this:

Wild Website appeared!

Go! Windows!

Wild Website used Virus!

It's super effective!

Windows fainted!

Go! Linux!

Wild Website used Virus!

It doesn't affect Linux...

Linux and Macs here.

Windows just went downhill after 7.

as much as Macs seem to be "overpriced" ... Find me a cheaper Ultrabook that has the exact same specs as the macbook air base model.

I prefer Mac, because working on Windows, just annoyed me, PC was sluggish, applications crashed often, it feel just way smoother working on Mac. I also have the feeling, PC get easily sluggish generally, from surfing in the internet and getting nasty stuff onto it.
I used however yet some PC, my parent bought, which maybe were not the best.
If I would like to play games, I surely would prefer PC, since on Mac there is practically no games.

I'm using a MacBook with OS-X 10.9.2 and Windows 7 Ultimate. I use Windows for gaming because Mac ports are generally terrible, but I hate it for everything else. When I do intensive stuff in OS-X, my fans will gradually spin up and adjust to the temperature properly. When I try to game on Windows without ramming my fans up to permanent max RPM, they will refuse to accelerate until my CPU has been boiling for 15 minutes. All of my load times are ludicrously slow on Windows compared to Mac, I often get memory leaks, "----.exe has stopped working", AVG had to be reinstalled 3 times to get it to work, Windows forgot to install bluetooth resources, even though I have a built in adapter, and Windows nearly had to be reinstalled because administrator actions would result in an error. And don't even get me started on the bluescreens. I get so many...

Windows, to me, is fine for gaming, but I will never use it for anything else. Meanwhile, I enjoy using OS-X as its interface seems extremely logical to me, everything works as it should and any problems I've had were easily resolved. I use Windows for gaming, and Mac for anything else. And I love the physical appearance of the thing. Not to mention that it should be in pieces by now, hehe. 5-year old MacBook is still kicking.

Linux> windows>mac

  1. I am a follower of GabeN, he desires Linux! Tux is the cutest thing ever k?
  2. Windows is the best for gaming at the moment, though I hope Linux will take that spot one day.
  3. Mac is just an exspencive laptop. I have nothing agaist it, but they suck to game on though. (I liek some of dem features in dis one anyway)

PCs are better due to low cost, better accessibility (for upgrades) and having better hardware.

BUT

OS X is the best operating system invented. It beats Windows by a mile.
