I feel I can't post here as comfortably as in the Rarity thread I've been active in today; I love all mane 6's very much, but I will admit Dash has usually been one of the lowest on my list of them.  However, I feel like saying a word or two...

 

First of all, I want to admit that in that time frame of a few weeks right around the very end of 2010/beginning of 2011 when I knew about the new MLP but had no interest in watching the show, Dash would have easily been my favorite pony if you asked.  Her design was outrageous and instantly extremely interesting and lovable, and she better than any other character represented what this new MLP was all about and how it was different than the ones that came before.

 

And in the first episode she really was adorable and likable, the mix between her cute lazy streak and her impressive skill, her ability to control the weather in minor ways and her speed... plus, that adorable freakin' tomboy accent!  I still love it!

 

Unfortunately quickly thereafter she became apparent as the kind of bull-headed jock character I couldn't relate to or enjoy as much as the other characters, and even characters I thought I'd dislike like Rarity warmed their way into my heart while Dash seemed the furthest from it.  However, as more time went on and we got eps like Sonic Rainboom to show her faults and depth, great moments like 'twenty percent cooler' and 'ohmigoshohmigosh' and so on, her great presence in Cutie Mark Chronicles and Best Night Ever etc. she quickly resumed a near-equal state in my eyes to all the other ponies, though still not one of my absolute favorites.

 

Then we got fantastic eps for her growth like Read It and Weep and for the last couple seasons we've really gotten LOADS of character development for her, I'd say the most of ANY pony as she's become bit by bit warmer, kinder and more understanding, and the only times she's seemed really 'selfish' have been fun and cute portrayals of it like in Pinkie Pride.  Plus we see even more of her surprising self-uncertainty and low self-value compared to her idols in eps like Daring Don't and how deeply she's come to care for her friends in eps like Rainbow Falls and.. just, gosh, she's really begun to shine in my eyes!  If the trend keeps up in S5 it might be hard not to call her one of my very favorites.  And I still think her visual design is the most rockin' and she has one of my favorite voices in the show, some of the coolest abilities etc.
