I don't think I like twilight being an alicorn :( Its just that twilight was already better than all the other ponys as in she had the most powerful element and she was more magical than the other unicorns. I don't know... I just don't like it.

Being an Alicorn I have no problem with. As long as she has no authority over the others in the show, I don't mind. She is/was one of the common folk and should remain so. I want her to remain on the same level as her friends. Will have to keep an eye open for leaks to see where they take this.

We were meant to rule together, little sister......

I agree... the fest, the parade, all the guards... the music the whole affair, huge banners flying Twilights cutie mark...it was just too much for me. How does she deserve this worship? Her friends are just left there in their dresses and normal appearances, while their friend reigns with divinity. A real shame.

It's a very good thing, and here's why (in a nice numerical order for all of you easily distracted people and... SQUIRREL!)

1. You can't have the same thing forever. If twilight was always the student of Celestia, then there is no point in her learning. Plus, like it or not, and no matter how much you want to deny it, you will eventually get bored of a unicorn learning the same lessons in the same place. It needed to change eventually.

2. Twilight looks awesome with wings. You can't deny it. Plus she's the only alicorn who is not a full fledged horse, so it's a completely new design to add to the show.

However, it could be a bad thing. So far, it's a good change of scenery, but as far as future episodes go, it's not good nor bad at this point. After all, it's not what they have, its what they do with it.

This kind of applies to the entire show. I mean really, they made an amazing show using cartoon candy-colored ponies. Who could have envisioned that?

Anyway, that's my two bits.

Babe out.

I voted IDK.  I have to wait and see where they take us in season 4.

Other than Twilight's promotion to Alicorn princess, what else specifically in the show "deviates" from what Lauren envisioned?  I'll always respect her opinion because she laid the groundwork for this fine cartoon.  But Hasbro was always going to have the final say in things, not Lauren.

In fairness to Wootie, Meghan, Mr. Larson, and everybody else on the team, Lauren knew they would do a very fine job with whatever lame ideas Hasbro threw at them.  That made the decision to leave an easy one.  It has also been pointed out that Lauren's forte is starting up new cartoons instead of writing day to day episodes.  That was another incentive for her departure.

I think one of the developers Twitter accounts leaked that in the first episode of Season 4 Twilight is going to become upset with being a princess and request to be turned back to normal.

I can see that to be a possible first episode, however I think it will involve Twilight being afraid of change. Being afraid just as she was before she wanted to admit that she needed to make friends in the first ever episode of season 1. That is why she will want to be changed back into a normal unicorn, yet in the end she will realize how lucky she is to have been given a gift of turning into an Alicorn Princess.

I really don't know! I love her design and I felt so happy for her and stuff, but I can't make any strong opinions til I see what happens. Twilight is my 2nd favorite pony in the show, and I really would hate to see her become detached from ponyville and the rest of her friends.

The strength in Twi's character was her development. Watching her grow and learn in each and every episode really made me relate to her more and more. Having Celestia basically say that she's learned enough to be a princess kinda takes away from that. I know there's a lot more for Twi to learn now especially since she's a princess, but I feel like it will seem less significant because she's a princess. It's like, take any episode from the show and replace Twilight with one of the other princesses, doesn't that seem kinda weird? That's kinda what I'm picturing.

Maybe I'm just a little flankhurt because the whole idea of achieving something after hard work is usually bittersweet. I dunno. I just have a lot of feels about this.

BUT let's just say that this only increases my excitement for season 4 by a billion because I MUST KNOW WHERE THEY GO WITH THIS.

And those are my thoughts.

Like music? Of course you do! Here ya go: http://www.youtube.com/user/concertoldham

Rarity is best pony because she is refined, poised, strong and genuine all wrapped up in a beautiful package.

I've found this a bad thing, and I hope this eventually gets corrected in the two-part Season Four premiere.

I mean, when you think about it, most season premieres are save-the-world stories. That means that odds are, the Season Four premiere might be a save-the-world story that has Twilight sacrifice her wings and princesshood to save her friends and all of Equestria. That is what I'd rather see, because even if Twilight's nerdy personality and love for her friends will remain intact, her promotion to royalty is still a huge, huge change, sometimes even bordering on going against the character.

I feel that the transformation and elevation undermines the value of friendship. She does not need to be an alicorn to express friendship. There is no limit to the quality of friendship based on form. Earth, unicorn, and pegisi can have the same level of friendship as an alicorn. The going forward there is now the problem that status as an alicorn will solve problems rather than the power of friendship. Each of the mane six are special not because of the type of pony or the fact that they wield the elements of harmony. They are special because their character/personality/behavior embodies an aspect of harmony. As a message to children I can not agree with it. The types of stories that the show uses are exploration into different aspects of the the elements of harmony. The problems are overcome because of those aspects. Each of the characters is different and their power levels are roughly equal. No one pony has all the powers of the others. Friendship acts as a glue for the other elements but is not all of them as a whole. The stories show value in difference and discourage superiority in all cases of a single form. The stories that can be told are not limited by not having an alicorn. Twilight does not need to be an alicorn to achieve these things.

Things I want to see.

1. Twilights transformation adversely affects friendship throughout Equestria.

2. Friendships are only stable when Twilight is around.

2. A rift develops between Luna and Celestia.

4. the other five have to travel together in search of the cause while Twilight remains in Canterlot.

9. The five have to work together and demonstrate their element without friendship.

3. Discord gets a laugh when confronted and tells them what is going on.

4. Celestia becomes her own version of Nightmare Moon.

5. The five find out that something like this happened to create Nightmare Moon.

6. The other princesses occurred naturally.

0. Discord tries to solve problems.

7. Twilight is forced to flee Canterlot.

0. The five discover how to unprincess Twilight.

0. Twilight and the five meet up and discuss what must be done and what it means to twilight.

0. Discord buys time to the process and is apparently destroyed by Celestia like King Sombra.

0. Twilight is restored and the six confront Celestia

0. Celestia is defeated and restored by the Elements of Harmony.

0. Celestia looks like a younger version of herself.

0. Parts of Discord partially reform and he admits he could not pass up the opportunity. Discord cant be destroyed only trapped.

0. The illusion on Celestia is removed so she looks like normal.

20. You cannot force friendship. A true princess can only be created for a force by the force and their interaction with it itself.

21. While walking around town Twilight catches a glimpse of herself as a princess again in a reflection for a brief moment. She continues to meet up with her friends.

22. fade to black.

I see nothing bad with this at all. Besides it will sell a lot of Hasbro plastic coronation sets and the company will back off happy for a while.

Twi isn't moving from Ponyville. The stories will carry on....AND we do have an upside. More princess face time. Luna, Cadence, Celestia and Twi will have decent interactions.

What if the show is canceled after season 4? We have a spin off already. The Pony Princess power hour.

Well, I suppose the show needed something like this to happen, they were probably running out of epic episode ideas and thought this could be good marketing and add a firecracker in the works. Which it did!

I'm not sure what I really think at the moment. I'm sort of neutral. It's nice and all but I'll have to wait for season 4 to really make up my mind. So for now, I'm staying open xD

I think it's a good thing because it allows for some change in the series. Stop thinking a minute about "She's going to lose her wings in the first episode" or "She will give up her throne" and think of the new kind of show we could have now.

There is one sentence that stayed in my memory since watching the episode: "we're all your students now". This means she a lot to teach to other ponies about friendship, and I think it's just what she will do. Rather than focusing on what Twilight is learning on the subject, we could give more attention to the rest of the Mane 6, plus secondary and background ponies could have a more up-front role. And rather than writing their lessons to Princess Celestia, they're going to write it to Princess Twilight Sparkle :P

So I think Twilight becoming an alicorn is a good thing and that it will be permanant. I think it could give a helping hand to the show, especially with Season 3 not being as good as most of us had expected.

I'm new here, but every other site i've been on i've seen people screaming about how making the main character even /more/ powerful is "Killing the show!" because logic or something. am i theonly one around here that's happy about the world of possibilities here? and moreso the brilliance of how they did it?

I like it. When I first saw the wings on her my reaction was not bad.

I liked how she was scared about them at first, foreshadow maybe?

I agree, there is brilliance to come, and I think evolving the main protagonist is a step up.

Thanks, and bro hoof /)

Honestly,I couldn't really care if Twilight is an Alicorn or not. It's obviously a marketing ploy for Hasbro, yeah, but it's not the show ruiner that some people claim it to be.As long as the show is still good,Twilight could be a giraffe for all I care.

Well, no. She flew in the last 5 seconds of the finale. The only way to pull it off is of they continue from that point and she's in a tree!

I think Twilight evolving will bring alot of good things in season 4. Story of the Alicorns, possible Starswirl episode, and I'm placing a bet right here and now that in the second part of the two part season start she changes back to an alicorn.

I very much loved the idea of Twilight as an alicorn from the start, I loved the season 3 finale, and I feel it's unlikely that it could damage the show.  I think we're in safe hands.
