Of course I would. I didn't care much for gender show stereotypes, plus I watched a lot of cartoons so it wouldn't matter to me. Besides, cartoons and me get along like bread and butter.

Plus, I watched the Powerpuff Girls so I guess I would have watched it.

I would have absolutely watched it, and then would have went to school telling everyone how awsome it was.
I watched all kinds of cartoons when I was young, including like every episode of powerpuff girls.

Probably not, I wasn't anywhere near as open minded as I am now. If I gave it a chance I probably would have liked it but the if is a key word here and I probably would have just dismissed it as a "girls show". I saw some of the G1 cartoon when I was a kid because I have a cousin who was really into it but wasn't really into it myself because of that mental block I had of it being a "girls show". Now years later I get into Friendship is Magic and then go back and watch G1 and find that while I don't like it nearly as much as Friendship is Magic and there are certain moments in it that make me wonder if I am going to get diabetes it is not that bad.

Like, how young? Because the My Little Pony that came on when I was around 8, I absolutely defy, but if I went on YouTube and saw the show clips, then it may actually end up of how I ended up liking it today. Thanks, YouTube. ^-^

I highly doubt I would have watched this show as a kid. I hated all girly things with a passion, I think it had something to do with my fear of catching the "cooties".

Probably not! Not for the reason you guys think. I pretty much didn't care if other people liked what I liked. When I was a kid, however I never got the channels that I do now. Take Cartoon Network or the Disney Channel for prime examples. I never had those channels, so the only way I found out about the Cartoon Network or Disney Channel was at a friends house. To this day I get CN and Disney Channel but not the Hub. But, if I had heard from one of my friends about it, I probably would of watched it somehow.

most likely I would've. though I've yet to even really SEE the show, I've seen clips here and there, pics mostly, that I've stumbled across. it's a huge world of difference, from MLP back in the day though. this one, seems to have an anime feel to it...maybe that's why the clips, seem to have caught my attention...or maybe it's because of the Flutterrage scene, where Fluttershy's eye twitches, while stating "I'll get you yet, my pretties" seemed so epic.

Hey look here...beavers! You better hide your wives, hide your husbands, and look here, both of you, hide your kids, cause we're coming!

If I'd managed to stumble upon it I imagine I would have. I pretty much stuck to Cartoon Network when I was a kid, but would venture to other channels when I found a show that interested me. I loved cartoons as a kid(still do :P) and MLP would have been right up my alley. The stories would have piqued my interest, and I'm sure I would have loved the characters. It's such an imaginative show; I can totally see my young self loving it.

I am sure that I would have loved "Friendship is Magic" no matter what time in life that it came out.

Sometimes I wonder how my life would have been different if I had made an effort to have female friends when I was a kid.  This question makes me also wonder if being a fan of a show like this from a young age would have influenced my friendships.

Huh. This is a good question.

Much of my childhood was influenced by cartoons and animation, provided by Disney movies, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. I was for sure not into the complex features and odds & ends of a cartoon, such as the morals (even though we all benefited from them), animation quality, voice acting, etc. I think I'd just about watch anything, mostly boy-aimed shows, and even my own share of PowerPuff Girls and Totally Spies.

In that case, there was a big difference between the boys interests and girls interests in my generation. Watching TV shows that had girl protagonists with action in it suited me, and it wasn't widely considered to be weird to watch shows like that. As for the toys, I probably would have no interest in them. Then again, I don't realize if the show would have such an effect on older types as they would children, in saying that many males would enjoy watching it too.

My guess is I'd probably watch and enjoy it secretly, much like I do now, but to a more solitary extent. Maybe my friends would know, maybe not.

Either way, I'd kill for a childhood filled with a blessing such as this show.

My journey in the fandom started on April 5, 2012. I joined here on April 24, 2012. Where that journey is headed now, who knows...

If we're talking about elementary school I might have watched few episodes but just to pass the time. As a teenager I wouldn't have had the time. But if there was a big fanbase going on even then I would of thought what was up as a teen and checked it out more. Thanks to the internet getting into stuff people enjoyed in wholesome entertainment became easier.

You know, I've thought about this before, and probably not.  When I was a little boy, I tended to avoid entertainment that seemed too girly.  I don't think I would've gotten the more mellow slice of life style.  Plus I never had cable when I was little.  I think the show probably entertains me more now than it would've when I was little.  I'm such a big softie these days.

But then again, I could be totally wrong.

I love you.

Debatable. I've gone from impulsive, overbearing, and somewhat close-minded to wide-eyed, accepting, and empathetic in less four years, so... probably not. If it somehow gave my younger self a bad first impression, for example a perceived "girly" scene, he'd probably want to switch the channel and dismiss it as the stupidest thing he'd ever seen.

Why of course, darling! Seriously, though. I definately would have watched this show if it came when I was a child.....well because I was a total girly girl and loved G3 back then. Although I wouldn't be able to comprehend FiM as I do now since the storyline would be too complex for the 5 year old me :(

I don't remember ever caring one way or the other if a tv show was "girly."  I only cared whether I found it entertaining.  I believe that looked at all kinds of shows that had female main characters - Strawberry Shortcake, Gem, She-Ra - but just never enjoyed them very much.  My childhood definitely needed more female protagonists.

Side note:  Did anyone ever notice that the mascots for cereal companies are always male?  Can anyone name a single female cereal mascot, for a cereal that was not based on a tv show or something?

Tony the Tiger, Cap'n Crunch, Toucan Sam, Lucky the Leprechaun, the silly rabbit, Snap Crackle Pop... I can't think of one.

Well, I'm pretty sure I would, but I probably wouldn't watch the Hub as much, since I wouldn't know that channel as well. So maybe not. Plus, I'd have to be rel little--six, or less. Otherwise as a kid I would've thought it was too 'babyish'. :P

I would have to know the channel more if I were to watch it as a kid. But if I did, I'm pretty sure I would watch it, and love it!! :D

Honestly, no. Especially since as a kid I lacked the amazing understanding and talent of the clearly amazing person I am today. But no seriously, probably not. When i was a kid I didn't even watch TV too much at all.

It should probably be noted I was a complete twat for about half my life, so that adds to the "no".

I'm not sure if I posted here yet, but if I didn't, I have to say that I wouldn't have watched it when I was young, I would've instantly thought it was too girly and wouldn't give it a chance

When I was young I didn't have the TV package that has the Hub.

I still don't.

I also didn't use the internet as much so I probably wouldn't have known this show had existed, unless it was on a more common channel. If it had been on Cartoon Network or Disney Channel, I might have ended up watching it, but I'm not entirely sure if I would have liked it. When I was younger I didn't like watching shows with to much emotional conflict (why I never liked Arthur), but the bright colors, wackyness and fun in the show could have offset that and perhaps I would have watched it. I enjoyed The PowerPuff Girls when I was little, so maybe I would. I don't think the girlyness of the show would have put me off, though, and I probably would've only been slightly embarrassed of it.

All in all, yeah, if I discovered it I probably would have started watching it.

Yes... only, I'd watch it in secret like I did with Gen 3, because I never really got a chance to be a girl, and like girly things. Oh, and I'm pretty sure that statement would not be true because some bronies actually may been still adults back when I was a kid, or if even back in the 80's. Why would men be that much different from today and not give MLP a chance?

It doesn't apply to everyone the same way. I meant that for the person individually. And for your question, you would be surprised about how much a person can change from his childhood.
