Episode That You Like that Everybrony else hates, and vice versa?

So, what are episodes you like that everyone else hates, and vice versa? For me, I like Magical Mystery Cure a lot, and all Spike episodes ecept Spike at your service have an 8.5 in my list, including Dragon Quest and Owl's Well That Ends Well. But for me, Hurricane Fluttershy didn't seem that good. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. If 6.5 was a passing score, I would have given it a 8 at most.

I personally liked Hurricane Fluttershy, especially since the writers decided to focus on the one of the most common issues that applies in many situations in the real world. That even if you don't/aren't able to contribute much, every little bit of effort counts to achieving whatever goals the party has set, and who knows, maybe you'll be the person who helps them push beyond the goal.

Magical Mystery Cure is one of my top favs, despite it being pushed into one 22-minute episode. But, even with the time constriction, the episode still went over quite well.

I like the Mysterious Mare Do Well and don't really understand why that episode is so hated, I think it is the episode where Rainbow Dash really was at her worst in terms of arrogance and she needed to be taught a bit of humility. And I liked all the Batman and other various comic book superhero references. I also liked Too Many Pinkie Pies, people say that the Pinkie clones are annoying and yes they are but they are supposed to be annoying but I don't think they were so annoying that they detracted from the episode at all.

I liked the episode Feeling Pinkie Keen. I know a lot people don't like this one because of it's odd lesson at the end, but I still enjoy it for it comedy and looking at Pinkie Pie. The episode I dislike the most that everyone liked was Sleepless in Ponyville. I dislike this episode a lot and people love it. Problem one it feels to much like Sister hoof social and it's hard to feel bad for Scootaloo when we know nothing about her, beside she can't go a day without talking about Rainbow Dash.

I loved Dragon Quest, but it seems to get a really large amount of dislike. I loved how we got to see the world of Equestria expanded on, and new places seen. I loved the application of the peer pressure story (yes, it's been done in many TV shows, but Spike taking it on was really interesting), and there were plenty of comedy moments to keep it a nice watch. Crackle... oh man, I loved that moment so much. Oh, and "Waddle?! Noooo!"

Then the episode I don't like as much as anyone else is Hearts & Hooves Day. That was underwhelming; they took Cheerilee and Big Mac and decided they needed to be expanded on (which they didn't - some characters are meant to be sideline). The romance aspect is something that I watch MLP because I was bored of seeing romance in other TV shows. I didn't care for the song, and hearing Big Mac say "shmoopy-doo" made me go "Oh my god..." in disbelief and frustration. I do not want him to say that again, EVER. >:[

Just For Sidekicks can go die in fire. Cathy Weseluck's attempts to interject humanity in Spike when the writers did not and the little Mane Six moments in the beginning and end are the only highlights in this mean spirited, OOC, and pointless episode.

I liked Baby Cakes more that the other Pinkie Pie episodes because I felt that it made her look more mature and responsible than her other episodes

I also liked Spike at Your Service, I think some fans are a bit to harsh on it, personally, I found it to be just dumb fun(It's not like there was much weight put on it)

As for episodes I didn't like, Magic Duel. I never cared much about Trixie, had to deal with Snips and Snails again, and I thought Trixie's apology was, to put it best....odd

I like Wonderbolts Academy alot. It is my favorite episode from Season 3 and don't understand why it isn't liked more. For an episode everybody liked except me, that would be Party of One. Yes, it has Pinkamena, but that is the only good thing about this episode. The rest was just ok and predictable.

Here are two episodes which don't get as much respect as they deserve: The Mysterious Mare Do Well and Keep Calm and Flutter On.

Some people say Rainbow Dash is out of character as though she doesn't care what others think of her. Of course she cares what others think of her! In her mind, she's being loyal, helpful, and protective towards her fellow citizens. When they started giving her this hero worship, she tried to ignore it at first. But let's face it. Most of us greatly enjoy receiving praise and admiration. So it was only a matter of time before Dash started basking in the attention. It wasn't a problem until she became addicted to this adulation. Even then, she wasn't aware she had a problem. This persisted until an interloper named Mare Do Well burst upon the scene and the townspeople refocused all their attention on her instead. Rainbow Dash, the embodiment of loyalty, understandably felt hurt and betrayed by the very ones she was striving to serve and protect. How fickle the people of Ponyville must be! Also note that whenever Dash was making a good faith effort to help the community, she was successful. It was only when she put her ego first and attempted outdo Mare Do Well that she had problems.

I also like this episode for showing just how brave and special the Mane 6 truly are. It may look odd to see big burly construction workers being rescued by ordinary looking young ladies. But when the series is viewed as a whole, they are anything but ordinary. Looks are deceiving and in A Canterlot Wedding Part 2, the masters of visual deception had the tables turned on them. The Changelings thought Twilight and her buddies were civilian mares who would be easy to apprehend and feed on. The result? They got their cans kicked despite a 10 on 1 advantage. RD knew all along that her friends are capable of the feats Mare Do Well pulled off. But she didn't believe it was them because that would mean they were purposely trying to show her up. I do think this was misguided act on their part and that they should have tried a less drastic move to snap RD out of her addictive save-lives-and-receive-adoration cycle first.

Keep Calm and Flutter On isn't hated per se. But the main gripe with this one is that the ending seems to be forced or rushed. I agree, but it's not as sudden as its made out to be. Ever since the beginning of the Return to Harmony season 2 opener, Discord has found Fluttershy to be a particularly fascinating opponent. After dividing the Mane 6, Discord used images and taunts to quickly corrupt four of them. Fluttershy, however, was able to resist those. I suspect if he continued to provoke her about her shortcomings and her friends' feelings, he would've eventually turned her too. He just didn't have the patience to go through an extended give and take with her. The fact that he wasn't able to quickly and easily turn Fluttershy without resorting to force stuck with him. And for most of Keep Calm and Flutter On, Discord is doing his worst to psychologically torment Fluttershy as payback. Ironically, the whole time he is harassing her, he has a growing respect and admiration for her resilience. He doesn't even realize it until it was nearly too late that she did in fact earn his friendship.

How was Fluttershy able to do this? Very carefully, and it was a major undertaking when you stop to think about it. Most of us, if we were to take on the job of converting Discord, would have done one of two things. One, in order be honestly kind to someone like Discord, we'd have to lie to ourselves about how he's not really a bad guy. Anybody who goes down this road would indeed be "gullible" and Discord would've taken full advantage of this. The other option would be to focus on Discord's innate propensity towards chaos. The result here would have been a cold, insincere kindness, and Discord would have been able to see through it. But Fluttershy succeeded because she is one of the only ponies in Equestria who was able to show Discord true kindness while at the same time remaining aware of his nefarious intentions. Pretty amazing, huh? But some people continue to hate on Fluttershy because she's one dimensional and a scaredy cat who becomes assertive and goes back to being a doormat by the next episode but, hey, whatever.

I loved the Mysterious Mare Do Well. It really brought Rainbow Dash's faults front and center, and showed just how arrogant and boastful she can become. It can also show how we can let the spotlight and popularity get in the way of how we view the world.

The lesson they taught her was interesting, and to me seemed almost like a prank more than anything. They seemed to get the point across, although it isn't certain to me if Dashie really truly understood or not. But watching how her character has progressed she has seemed to.

It also has one of my "saddest" moments, where Rainbow Dash realizes she is all alone, a situation she hates being in.

Oh, yeah! How could I forget Feeling Pinkie Keen? Well, it may just be because i'm religious, so i like the moral...

And I'm stuck in the middle of your reception and the normal reception to Sleepless in Ponyville". A bit dull, but I like those "dwaaa" moments. So it's hard to chose which side I belong to...

I actually really liked Dragon's quest. I'm not a big fan of Spike episodes in general but it was different to see how Spike compares to other dragons in Equestria. He tries to fit in with the older dragons but he's not quite up to par with them yet. It also shows just how much Twilight Sparkle cares for Spike by going out of her way to look after him (with the help of her friends of course!)

Oh and who could forget this:

Oh yeah, I also enjoyed Dragon Quest. Sure it could've been better, but I still found a lot to enjoy about it. The only thing that truely disappointed be immediately was the fact that there wasn't any references to a certain JRPG

Spike At Your Service is a comedy gold episode. It's a great Spike episode, and it's a great Applejack episode. Yet, people complained about it big time. The main complaint was the usual complaint with Spike - that he was out of character. I disagree with that entirely. Spike's character is never fully consistent with anything, but I didn't find anything about him particularly off. He got carried away as he often does. Some people say he was an inept doofus who couldn't do anything right. First of all, it wouldn't be the first time, as he was totally silly in Owl's Well That Ends Well and other episodes. Second, he's not used to doing the kind of chores necessary to run a farm. He's never lead that kind of a life. He's a very capable assistant for Twilight, but he's still a baby dragon who's unaccustomed to Applejack's way of life. Finally, he can't be that much of a nuisance. He successfully helped clean Little Pigginton and he even counted all of the blades of grass at Sweet Apple Acres. I don't think Spike was portrayed badly at all. My only complaint is the lack of depth regarding the Dragon Code, because we've seen Spike's life saved at least two times prior to this episode, so it's pretty obvious the Dragon Code exists just for the sake of serving this episode's plot. With some more strategic writing, they easily could have found a way around this, but they didn't.

The episode that everyone loves that I find to be among the most boring, forgettable episodes in the series is Luna Eclipsed. *Squee* an episode about Luna! Yeah, that's it. She learned a nice lesson and everything, but I never really found the appeal of this episode beyond that. Let's face it, It's highly appraised for Luna, and Luna alone. Not that I am implying the episode was bad, because it wasn't. But you could replace Luna for any random character of the day, and this episode would not be even half as beloved as it is.

I honestly don't understand why "Too Many Pinkie Pies" was such a hated episode. I found it to be hilarious and an imagination fulfilled. A world with Pinkie Pies is never a good one, so one Pinkie Pie is already the best. That's the way it should always be :)

One of my favorite episodes is Owls Well Ends Well. Spike was freakin' hilarious in the episode, and it had a ton of references. Plus, we got a lot of owl jokes, a great pun in the episode title, because, I love puns.

I also didn't really like Sonic Rainboom as much as everyone else. Sure, Rarity gets to be all stuck up, but she got way out of character. She's the Spirit of Generosity; and you call that generous? She only thought of herself, and Rainbow Dash didn't even confront her. Rarity also thought this was a beauty contest, and they put the whole concept of Sonic Rainboom into the show with no notice. It's a nice episode, but it wasn't a full ten-ten on the scale. Probably nearing five-ten. If i'm in a nice mood, i'll give it six-ten.

...You do understand a passing grade of an Episode is usually 6.5, right? Not to be rude, but you couldn't call a "5" nice acording to TV com ratings.

Ah, okay, change Sonic Rainboom to seven, then. I honestly don't watch TV a lot nowadays, normally upstairs doing homework, on computer, or out of the house.

Well the dwaa moments are alright, but I just don't feel Scootaloo deserves them yet. Like I said, it's hard to relate to her because we nothing about her. We don't know about her parents, if she has a brother or sister, and it just seems the writers keep her in the safe zone by just having her talk about RD. Now when you look at Sister Hoof Social, we can kinda relate to Sweetie Bell a little. We know that Rarity does not live at home. So if she wants someone to talk to about a problem and does not feel right talking to her parents she can't just talk to Rarity right away. Sweetie is just trying to be helpful in her own kinda way. There is just more to them then Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash.

Not trying to make you hate SIP, just giving my point of view of it.

Too Many Pinkie Pies isn't a hated episode... is it? Am I missing something? Loads of people love that episode, and rightly so. It reached the semi-finals of that giant Favourite Episode tourney. (It's a spectacular episode by default, but I love it even more because it stars Pinkie.)

Another episode I think was great was MMMystery on the Friendship Express. That episode has got stick for apparently being filler and OOC Mane 6, but I think it was wild and fully funny. The references were just galore, the humour very well placed and Pinkie Pie taking on Sherlock Holmes is bound to make anyone smile. Plus the ending was really... it was really My Little Pony; a solution is found and everyone's both happy and bemused. :)

No, Too Many pinkie Pies is not a hated episode. if you want to know whether an episode is hated or not look at a topic about it in the sub-forums. Same goes for MMMystery, somehow. It really isn't that hated.

I liked Just For Sidekicks and Spike At Your Service better than Games Ponies Play, which seems to be an unpopular opinion. (I don't understand the hate on Just For Sidekicks. I mean, the title is literally telling you 'don't take this episode seriously, relax and have a fun time'. Spike is a good slapstick character. The Mane 6 aren't, which is why Games Ponies Play failed to do what Sidekicks did right.)

I also like The Crystal Empire way better than A Canterlot Wedding. Check the latter's thread for why I don't like it. Crystal Empire took everything that was wrong with the S2 finale and fixed it. Intense atmosphere building to a suitable climax. A villain that's actually smart and really scary. Heroes that help defeat the villain instead of just hanging around. And great foreshadowing for the finale.

Feeling Pinkie Keen and The Cutie Pox are among my most disliked episodes as well. They seem half-baked to me, a few gags are funny, but overall they have nonsensical, forced plotlines and a seemingly random aesop. It's just plain bad writing, like they ran out of time and only delivered part of a script.

I love Magical Mystery Cure. I'm okay with it being "rushed" because in my opinion, a fast-paced episode is better than an episode that's slower than Boast Busters.

I don't love Mysterious Mare-Do Well, but contrary to popular opinion, it's far better than Boast Busters. If you ask me, both episodes have the same flaws, but Boast Busters flaws are up to eleven.

Also, I actually like Spike episodes, but Spike At Your Service is the weakest.

And the episode that I think is vastly overrated is A Canterlot Wedding. In my opinion it's not bad, but weak compared to the season 1 and season 3 finales.

Although The Mysterious Mare Do Well certainly isn't my favorite episode, I don't think it's quite as bad as everyone makes it seem. Sure, it doesn't portray Rainbow Dash in the best of ways, but having an episode that focuses on one of the pony's flaws isn't uncommon in the series. Applejack had Applebuck Season, Fluttershy had Dragonshy, Pinkie had Party of One, Twilight had Lesson Zero, and Rarity had Sweet and Elite. An episode focused on Rainbow Dash's conceited arrogance was bound to happen. It just wasn't written quite as gracefully as some of the other flaw-based episodes.

I also liked Magical Mystery Cure. To be honest, I had to watch it a second time to really appreciate all they were able to pack into twenty minutes. They basically took a two-parter, cut out most of the exposition, and explained key points through the use of song. It might not have been the best way to go, but considering that they don't always have much of a say in these things, I enjoyed it. And hey, they still have at least a whole nother season to explore the realms of Twilicorn. They've said in the past that the Season 3 finale will actually coincide with the premiere of Season 4. I think people will enjoy MMC better when they see the full potential of Twilicorn next season.
