So, are there any old school gamers on this forum? Man, I see everybody has this XBox 360 jazz, the Wii, Playstation 5, Kinect, whatever. And I'm sitting over here with the newest system I own being a PS2. XD So, who else likes kicking it old school, and what's the best system? I hope I covered all the most popular ones in the poll.

I find myself replaying Ocarina of Time, Banjo-Kazooie, Majora's Mask and Star Fox 64 at least once a year... Also Mario 64.... I am madly in love with my N64... I also really like the SNES though.... Nothing quite like Super Mario RPG.... :)

The Nintendo 64 is what I grew up with and is what threw me into gaming in the first place. I played a bit of Super Nintendo (SUPER MARIO WORLD FTW) before that but the N64 is what really got me into it. The game I played the most of on there was Donkey Kong 64, followed closely by Pokemon Stadium and Super Smash Bros.

Chrono Trigger. Probably the first rpg i ever played. The combat, the story the music, everything was great about this game. Without it, i probably would have played games like kingdom hearts and final fantasy.

I know this isnt really a ''classic'' but The World Ends With You remains another favorite

I really like the playstation (1) games ^.^ I played a lot of them (like spyro, crash, gex, etc) and I still do. Unfortunetly, my playstation console no longer works, so I have to play them on pc using an emulator. But on the other hand, the emulator is good for screenshots and making videos ^.^ .... but still... it is not the same as playing it on the cute looking console :3

Super Nintendo!  With the N64 close behind.  Ocarina of Time is my favorite game but Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Super Mario World and other games for snes are the ones that I can play over and over and over again.

I can beat Super Metroid in an hour and 13 mins, Link to the Past in around 2 and a half hours, and Super Mario World in about 10 minutes ^^ tongue.png

Though I've got that newfangled Zbox 590 or whatever, I do still have every system I've ever owned, ranging from the Atari 2600 to current tech.

I think my prize system is my Sega Nomad.  I don't know a lot of people who still have one.

My personal gaming console collection consists of Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy Advance SD, Gamecube, and Playstation 2. I like the PS2 a lot, but that's not listed, and I don't think PS1 can quite compare to many of the systems up there. I voted for N64.

I feel ya, brony...seems like we're part of a small handful of older hosses in a sea of foals up in this hizzouse. XD

Me, I was pretty much born holding an NES controller, but I was also fortunate enough to have an Atari 2600, Sega Genesis, and Super NES when I was a kid. My favorite by far was the SNES because it seemed to have the widest variety of good games back then.

Among my favorite childhood games were Zelda I & II, Mega Man 6, and Wizards and Warriors on NES; Zelda LttP, Super Mario World, and the Star Wars trilogy on SNES; and Sonic 2 and 3+Knux, and Aladdin on Genesis.

Genesis! I grew up with the NES and SNES first, but there was nothing like the Genny. Shining Force, Sonic, VectorMan, Golden Axe and Tiny Toon All-Stars!

Yes, this game was real! cool.png

And the Sega Dreamcast was amazing too. If that system's not old-school yet it's getting there. The DC and the GameCube were the last true gaming machines, IMO. Everything after that was a small computer/entertainment system, and I think a lot of the magic in console gaming was lost because of it.

My favorite would be the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The SNES has some of my favorite old school games, particularly the Donkey Kong country trilogy (great platformers, very advanced graphics for their time, and I adore the soundtracks in all three).

It also had Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past, and Final Fantasy VI (or III). Such a good console with a fantastic library.

I still have my PS2, GBA and original DS. Don't use them much as I'm almost entirely a PC gamer these days, but I still bring one of them out every now and then.

At some point I really need to start playing my PS2 again, because the only reason I kept it is because of a bunch of random exclusive RPGs, like Odin Sphere, Soul Nomad, and bunch of SMT. Never got that far in any of them :/

My childhood was with the Gamecube, PS1, and Dreamcast. (I still have my Dreamcast, but sadly the controllers I have for it no longer work. The console works though so all I'd have to do is get new controllers.) So I'd have to say those, as well as the PS2, Game Boy Advance SP, and Nintendo DS. Which I also grew up with

It is a really tough choice between the PS1, N64, or the SNES for me. All 3 of these systems made my childhood. I think I will say...Playstation. It was the first console where I actually started to beat quite a few games that I played and it just had some very revolutionary games for its time. Metal Gear Solid, it makes the decision for me.

The PS1 is my favourite old-school gaming console. There is a nice variety of games to choose from and brings back fun memories. I also like the Nintendo 64.

My dad was an old gamer (Awessoome!) So, when he got his Atari, and other gaming systems, he wanted to save them for the future, and pass it down to whoever wants it. And luckily, I was one of the ones who got his Atari and Gameboy. Atari was fuuun. But I also liked the NES that he bought for me at a Thrift Shop.

I choose the NES, SNES, and the GameBoy. x )  The NES is the reason I play video games.  The SNES seemed this huge leap forward back when it released.  And the GameBoy (despite being this bulky, heavy, eye-straining brick) meant I could play the games I enjoyed wherever.  There was worthwhile software for each, and you can trace back several surviving franchises and spin-offs to all three.
