How famous do you think you are on the forums?

~Starlight~

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure about myself, I don't want to name names but there are people who post stuff and I recognize there username and such. I'd like it if people notice me on here: at least to the degree that they recognize my name and avatar when I post something even if I ain't super famous or something

-10 seems like a reasonable estimate.

Sig made by Kyoshi.

Cool things people have said about me:

Never heard of him but I guess just you mentioning him is a good reason not to go anywhere near that name.

(In reference to an author I suggested.)

Pretty low. I can do a lot of music stuff outside of here and then i come here and its no big deal at all. It's pretty humbling (probably a good thing i guess) and just indicative of how wide this community is. You go somewhere else and you're starting from scratch again.

I have made brony music since 2011. I like all kinds of music and genres. I'm sure you'll like some of it..

Here's My YouTube..I have several albums on Bandcamp and Pony.FM.

Lol. Not at all. Granted, that's my fault. I go through phases where I post on the forums like all the time but other times I rarely make posts at all. So, that's just me. But I don't really care anyway. I have fun and talk to my lovely friends. That's all that matters here.

I'm not sure if this will derail the thread, or if this will post a target on my head for the Staff to hunt me down with , but there's something I really need to vent after reading this topic.

Can I just ask a serious bloody question to everyone who considers themselves not famous, or who consider that they will never be famous: Why is it such a big deal?

I mean, I am seriously wondering here, and trying to rack my mind around why being famous on a niche forum huddled in the corner of the Internet is such a big deal. Why it is so important that we'd stoop so low to rank ourselves out of 10. I'm wondering why I did it now, because it really doesn't matter, does it? I mean, do you log off, look at the ceiling and go "Nobody on MLPForum knows who I am or likes my posts. No brohoofs or comments. My life is over."? If you're feeling lonely, just get stuck in! if it's legitimately about wanting to be the most popular kid on the block, WHY? What is so attractive about people fawning or gushing over you to the point where you can't post a status saying "I ATE TOAST" without 10 comments wondering what kind of toast it was, what you put on it and if they can lick your mouth to taste the toast after you ate it?

You go to school/work/the pub, and nobody cares about your popularity on the forum, and let me tell you this: Aside from the occasional case, when are you going to meet these people? In that case, should your popularity really matter? I mean, it must be nice getting an ego-stroking when you log on and getting attention, but there is almost no point to it. If you've got a few friends, that's all you need! Some common ground! You don't need to be gushed or fawned over, because those few friends you make will be infinitely, infinitely, INFINITELY more important and caring to you than Joey McHoofington The Dick brohoofing all of your posts.

It's getting real fucking disheartening and probably speaks volumes about this forum when you have people who seem upset because people are more "famous" or get more attention than them.

And let me tell all of you voting yourselves under 4/10 OR feeling sad that you're not loved that, if you ever find yourself in my neck of the woods and you recognise my face, I will honest to God invite you around, get you a nice hot cuppa and a biscuit, and we can talk. That must be better than being gushed over and having people kissing the goddamn ground you walk on and stroking your ego to the point where it brainwashes you and turns you into someone you're not, right?

I'll pop the kettle on.

I get your point, its pretty vaild, but when I first read the first post of this thread, I thought of it nothing more then just a friendly way of expressing ones self and getting to know other people, and it honestly got me thinking about how many people know me here. Do I care that they know me for me just being here? Or for WHO I am. Which is why I'd rank myself a solid 3/10. Reason why its so low is because there are only a select people on here who KNOW who I am and what kind of person I am here as well as in my personal life. I could easily rank myself a 7/10 because there are other people on my profile who know me for my artwork possibly, my RPing and my Lightning Bliss Show I've started on not too long ago.

I'm not posting here to have my ego stroked or to gain more friends, or have self pity on myself, I'm merely being honest and happy with my post here. I thought this was a nice way to express how I view myself and how I think my friends view me here. The cloest friends I have on the MLPforums would probably tell you all that I'm a cheerful, or blissful, funny mare with a thirst for adventure, creative and happy to be around. But they would also say i'm a workaholic and that when I do a project I see it through, which means hardly talking or playing till its done, and easily irritated if my work is disturbed lol! I personally view as myself as a person who still has alot to learn about life and strives to be the best I can be. This includes not wallowing in self pity, despair, or dwelling how horrible my life has been in the past, because thats where it is, in the past. I focus on the present and the future and what I can do to live my life to the happiest. And I certaintly don't need my ego stroked or other members to pity me when I'm sad as you stated *giggles*

So anyways thats my friendly honest opinion ranking, I'm happy with it.

Gosh I don't even know, meh, I do know a lot of people on here I guess, but as far as famous goes not very, pretty average I would say, so I give myself a 6.4/10! ;)

kinda a 5/10

Maybe less.

Sure some people know my name but for how long will that name be remembered, I don't feel like I've left a impression strong enough for a long lasting memory yet.

I'm probably only about a 3/10. There's a few people who know me because they are often in the places I post or because they've known me from my more active times back when the forum was new and smaller or even that short amount of time I was doing stuff for the site staff but ultimately not many people actually know I exist.

I'm only ever active in the Media Discussion board for the most part. I don't even talk about MLP that often so I'm never on those boards either. It doesn't help that I haven't seen EqG yet or any of season 4 cuz I'm waiting for it to be finished.

It's pretty simple. Being acknowledged is a human need because we are a flock animal. Therefore it releases hormones which makes us feel good.
It is of course not important today, with our current technology, but our human brain is not accustomed to technology yet.

There are many things I feel I want, but I really don't. An example is money.   (I earn far enough to live and be happy, yet I feel I need more ^^)

My point is that it's nothing wrong about feeling good about being popular. Embrace the good feeling it gives  :)

As long as you don't start feeling bad for NOT being popular, then you are giving yourself an unnecessary discomfort.
