what are the things that you do that keep you a brony

Motion Spark

Recommended Posts

We are on an off season, so there's nothing much to discuss at the moment about the show (but, since some 'footage' of season 4 has been revealed, there are couple of things to talk about), on top of that we are in a 'crisis' stage of the fandom, by having the Twilicorn and Equestria Girls, which were really hated at first but slowly gaining a little bit of acceptance.

Anyways, what things that you do keep the spark of your bronyness alive? In my case is mostly drawing and sometimes animating. Drawing ponies is pretty much what I do and I have a lot of fun doing it while I still have interest in ponies. If I wasn't doing this I would be bored of MLP honestly due to all of this nonsense controversy, this keep me alive while I wait for season 4.

This is my example, now you tell me, what do you do. Do you go to conventions, do you collect merchandise, do you do art, animation, music, etc. Do wear brony t-shirts, do you chat with brony friends about the show, do you watch brony related videos on youtube.

Anything goes, post the things that keep you interested in the fandom while there's no much to talk about and in the middle of this dark moment the fandom is experimenting

Well MLP forums is one, but there are tons of things that keeps the spark alive. Music, fan made/remixed/sampled etc music, some of the art work, rewatching episodes as well as other pony related stuff found online.

I can't think of anymore but tons of stuff :)

Well, I rewatch episodes, because i'm that kinda person who somehow can watch Mlp 4 times and still not remember it word for word :P. Besides I just like it.

I also watch pony related videos and random stuff, PMVs sometimes, I also check out art around here on the forums, aswell as other fan creations, I listen to music made by others to. Aswell as show music to.

I occasionally draw pony art, but i suck at it so i'm not sure how beneficial it is to keeping me interested xD.

Oh and I read fanfics randomly.

Other then that just hanging around the forums and stuff Way to much for my own good I agree the dark moments where kinda depressing, but the fact that I enjoy the company of the people here(They keep me from going insane honestly.) keeps me here, plus I like ponies, and I try my best to be optimistic about the show and stuff and the fandom.

Also I still discuss things about the show, new ideas for threads related to discussion about the show come up, and that is something I enjoy discussing and keeps me interested in the show.

The s4 spoilers also did help to :P.

So yeah alot of different stuff. The fandom mostly though, of course I do other things not related to ponies, but still. :P.

I wish I could say 'browsing the forums' but I would be lying, I can't pass further the home page of the site, it's not like how it used to be months ago, I was a lot on show discussion, fan-art, cloudsdale and sugarcube corner but now I don't feel interest anymore, and a few posts here and there are not enough.

I miss those times, but I want to try my luck in the roleplay area :)

slowly gaining a little bit of acceptance.
Hmm, i think its accepted and that its more positive than negative around those two areas. Been ever since they were released.

The forum is what keeping the "spark" alive i guess. I don't talk to any of my brony friends anymore and i hardly watch any of the fan-made stuff. I had one friend who i talked to every day with, but its been like... 2-3 weeks since we last spoke with him.

A shame, he was a lovable guy.

Firstly, I simply like the show very much - pretty much of a no-brainer I guess, but this series is just something that can't be worn out so easily, meaning that you can rewatch your favourite episodes without getting tired of them. Aaand it's got cute and beautifully animated anthropomorphic animals, so how could I say 'no'?  ^_^

Speaking of the visual part of the show, art must be one of the greatest causes for me to stick to the fandom. I'm more of a lonely fan anyway due to my personality and such things, but spending a lot time alone doesn't bother me as long as I have a pencil and some paper with me. If it feels like I can't get anything to draw, I'll just draw some ponies - it's like an excessively easy way to get rid of an art block! Not that drawing MLP related things would be just a "tool" to me - I really like drawing it in general and that's all that matters.

The whole fan art part is just incredible. By "art" I don't mean just the graphic side now, but also writing, music, crafts, everything. We have tons of talented artists, but I think what's even more awesome is the creativity and that's where all the fun begins. So, yeah, I'd say that the fandom just makes the series complete to me, and I wouldn't get rid of the the visual part of it even though I'd try. ...Not that I ever would, tho.  :derp:

Musical numbers all about ponies. And roleplaying. Those are the two big things I've been doing just because of MLP. Thus, it keeps me as a brony And carousing the forums. Can't forget that!

Well,

  • I draw ponies every now and then.
  • I write and read fanfiction about ponies.
  • I play with my pony toys.
  • I watch a couple of episodes each day.
  • I look at fan made animations.
  • I listen to brony music and the show's music everyday.
  • I enjoy looking at pony artwork.

:3 and maybe some other things.

What keeps me a brony is the show, of course, and the music. I have, like, a hundred PMV songs on Podcast that I listen to everyday. I also play on Equestrian gaming, playing games like Derp 'till dawn, which is really nothing more than a pony version of Slender XD

For the most part I'm not much of a brony during off-season time. Some fanart ogling here and there, activity on the forums (if you've never heard of me it's because I mainly hang out in the Everfree Forest when there's no season airing) though I do keep a constant eye out for the next Ponies Anthology. The first Ponies Anthology was how I originally got into MLP and the second one was even better (except for the last twenty minutes) and they seem to come out between seasons so I'm hoping Anthology 3 comes out soon.

Other than that I fanboy over a lot of other things that keep me company so I don't do much pony. I don't roleplay period so I have no place on that board and haven't listened to much pony music either. (Been meaning to check out Pony.fm though)

But believe me, when I really get into MLP, I get into it.

I don't really do anything special myself.

I just stick to what I love, watch the old wait for the new, and maybe grab whatever new items I may stumble across (such as the new vinyl scratch figure I just got off eBay!)

That aside I just keep to myself. Much like with the lack of any new Star Trek material for many years, I still enjoyed the old series and movies, built the model kits, etc... Or transformers, it had a LONG hiatus before anything new came about. So I enjoyed much of the fan works in the mean time and still proudly displayed the few remaining originals I had around and added to when the new ones came about. And tbh the new ones kinda suck... The masterpiece ones are great, but the movie figures suck.

Although the show is the main core of the fandom, just because there aren't any new episodes doesn't mean there aren't things to do in it, the fan content is so numerous it can be hard to keep up with... I don't keep up with everything but I watch quite a lot of videos and often browse fan art. I draw a little myself here and there but not often anything I'd be proud sharing, lol... I also browse merchandise all the time, and buy some when I can. And of course, I rewatch the show. A lot. Not every day of course, but still very often, I really do love everything about the show and could watch for the rest of my days and not get bored, and that is what truly keeps me a brony I believe. :D

I still haven't seen all the episodes so I usually watch the ones I haven't seen. I also browse the forum, MLPchan, or /mlp/ when I wanna see ponies or discuss them.

Well, I didn't get into the fandom until just recently... which was after season three had finished. (I know, lolnoob) but what I've been doing was, well first, watching all the episodes, of course.

Other than that, I spend a lot of time drawing, or painting. I'm not good yet, but I'm improving, for sure. I also am into the music... really into it. I have also tried (and kind of failed) at making some of my own pony songs... electronic music is hard >.> That's about it. I mean, I spend time lurking here, being I rarely post or join conversations, but yeah, I lurk.

I CLOP. EVERY. DAY.

Just kidding... maybe...

No I really am.

I don't really do anything special in the off-seasons. I draw ponies, rewatch episodes, hunt around for fresh merch, browse the forums, look at pony stuff on YouTube, etc. Though really I'd be doing these things regardless even when it's not an off-season. My bronyness isn't really something that runs dry or needs to be replenished, it'll always be there even when there's no new episodes.

Well I went to Equestria LA where I got inspiration from some of the other musicians to start making my own covers. I've been tying to write an original mlp song, but I'm more of a score composer so its not that easy. Well anyway posting here is a good way too. I'm going to try to go to more cons (I'll be going to Sac Brony Expo in September so look out for me there). And I trying to get a music tutorial series up along with some physical CD that I can sell at future cons. I've been busy.

It's hard to stay interested during these episode droughts. The main thing I do is come here to the forum. It's always fun to read posts and chat with friends. I also check Equestria Daily each day for news and whatever fan material interests me. Other than that, I re-watch episodes of MLP and check out fan videos. I've also been collecting bits of merchandise, but that only holds my interest for so long.

Basically just this website, I spend practically all my free time on it. I also sometimes look at MLP pics to get more avatars, which I keep changing every two seconds lol. I sometimes read fanfics too...and by fanfics I mean clopfics >.>

I do the same things I do during the seasons. Watch pmvs along with other fan made videos, read fanfics, rewatch episodes, go on here, go on equestria daily, buy merchandise, read the official comics, and watch panels. It's pretty easy for me to stay a brony during the episode droughts because of the fan made stuff and because I love the show so much. :) Despite all of that, though its still extremely hard to wait for season four.
