I'd like to add another program to my list. Guitar Rig 5, my friend introduced me to it and it's great, I don't have to use my amp anymore at home because I can just plug guitar into my PC and play. Large variety of effects, everything, that guitarist like me needs :D

Photoshop CS5 - Love to edit pictures for my spare time

Skype - Best program to talk to friends and family

Steam - Obvious gaming program

Teamspeak - Best place to meet new people if you find a curtain game.

RocketDock - Basically like a MacDock but with Windows. Keeps my stuff organized. Don't need anything on my desktop

Internet Download Manager - Best downloading software out there.

Google Chrome - Only the best internet browser behind Mozilla Firefox

 - Foobar2000, really cool music player

 - Skype, to chat with friends

 - GIMP 2, very good, free photo editing program

 - FRAPS, to record games. Also has a little fps counter

 - Waterfox, Firefox optimized for 64-bit operating systems

 - Steam, I use it occasionally for gaming, but their currency conversion often screws over Europeans which is why I always look for other places to buy my games from first.

My favorite programs would be...

  1. Google Chrome: Fast, customizable, and just hands-down awesome.
  2. Paint.NET: I always find myself doing something in Paint.NET, whether it is editing a screenshot, or making a graphic for a personal website project. Has a very nice and simple interface.
  3. FileZilla: I often use it for uploading stuff to my two websites. I surprise myself of how often I tend to use FileZilla. I love its interface and I love how well it handles large ques of files.
  4. Skype: I tend to talk with friends alot on Skype. I like it cause there isn't really any alternative - not saying that Skype is bad.
  5. ManyCam: Making my voice sound like a robot and playing My Little Pony songs to my non-brony friends on Skype.

@@Harmonic Revelations - I've been interested in learning Python for quite a while, but never got around to it - you've given me some more will power to try it out soon. I've heard alot of good things about Python.

In no particular order:

  1. Chrome: Not sure what the real differences between it and every other web browser is, but I still prefer it.
  2. Sibelius: Probably the best music notation software I've seen, though it's a bit pricey.
  3. Parallels Desktop: It lets me run Mac and Windows OSs simultaneously, and it does it well.  It's an excellent tool that I'd recommend to any Mac user (and you can get a really nice student discount on it too).
  4. Eclipse: It's gotten me through two years of programming classes, so it deserves mention here.  I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have it to point out all of my stupid errors.  Also, unlike Sibelius and Parallels, it's free, which is awesome for obvious reasons.

I enjoy the following:

  • Opera Web Browser - Chrome doesn't work well on this laptop, so it's a nice alternative.
  • CCleaner - Self Explanatory.
  • Paint.NET - Nice program to edit things with.
  • iTunes - Nice to keep track of music, I guess.
  • Skype - Talking, yeah.
  • Snipping Tool - Easy to quickly get a screenshot of something without hassle.
  • Freemake Video Downloader - I can download playlists of videos from youtube by only a few clicks of a button, it's great.
  • Smart Defrag 2 - Same as CCleaner.
  • Kingsoft AntiVirus - I've been using it for quite some time now and not a single virus yet.

and maybe a select few others. The only reason steam isn't on here is because my laptop sucks at running it.

~ Steam: For ... wait for it ... gaming. :o

~ Paint.NET: For editing/making sigs and such, as well as other digital art stuff. :D

~ Google Chrome: Browsing the internet ... what else? Oh, and listening to music via Youtube. :yay:

~ Windows Media Player: For listening to music, mainly when my internet is down. Otherwise, I usually use the above.

~ Notepad++: For whatever needs it, like config files for games and such. Otherwise, basic Notepad. :)

~ Rainmeter: Mainly because it looks cool, but also because it can be helpful, depending on the skins. :squee:

~ Fraps + Audacity (Always used together): For recording gameplay videos/recording my voice, respectively. ;)

Chrome:  Because it is the portal to the internet and internet is life.

Skype:  Cuz I iz socialz honest.  JK I have like 3 people on my Skype... but I use it constantly because I like those three people.

Paint.NET:  Because I have to think too much to use Gimp and I have to think to little to use MS Paint.

Microsoft Word:  A few years ago, I'd have never said I loved MS Word, because it was just a utility that I used when I had to.  Then I used a knockoff, and realized how amazing Word really is xD

And of course Start8 because it is the magical program that makes Windows 8 a usable thing.

1. Chrome - Because Internet

2. Skype - I enjoy talking to other people, especially ones I meet on the forums

3. Steam - I adore games and Steam lets me play them because I'm not a huge fan of consoles (mainly because I don't own a tv)

4. FamiTracker - I love making Chiptunes and that is an amazing program for it.

Other than that, I can't really think of many other programs I use.

I think everyone here will include a web browser as one, so I think I'll just list the unusual ones.

1. Source Filmmaker - Not many people simply fired up Blender to learn animating from scratch just to post to YouTube, but so much changed when this program came out - for a game engine already full of assets, and with so many already converted for Garry's Mod. Heck, it's a favorite of many bronies even when ignoring the TF2 stuff.

2. Default Audio Changer - I have multiple audio devices I tend to use, and it's a pain to use Windows' "Default Output" window each time I want to change it. With this program, I can simply press the numpad's Del key to swap, even in a game.

3. GeForce Experience - The program itself contains some features to tune a game's settings for the best performance given your system. However, more importantly, it has a feature called ShadowPlay that lets you keep the last 5+ minutes of a game on "buffer", and save it all by pressing a button.

The only disadvantages over Fraps; you can't save the buffer *and then* continue recording (ie "Oh, save that thing that just happened!...But keep the camera rolling, this is getting good!"). And, it exports directly to a compressed MP4, which is not as optimal for video editors. (It's not some ineptitude of the developers; the graphics card itself is doing the H.264 encoding on-hardware)

4. Sublime Text Editor - It gives me decent auto-fill when writing JavaScript, and it doesn't ever hang. That's high praise for a text editor. It also has this amazing ability to expand your cursor out to multiple lines, and then make the same edits to each line. Much better than trying to do a "Find>Replace>In Selection"

Well, I mainly use:

Steam and Desura for games and mods

Skype to talk with my friends and hear them complain about my awful mike quality

Gimp. I don't have any other drawing program yet, and it's good enough for me to digitize my drawings

Wordpad :P because I'm sometimes forgetful

And... Will I get shot at if I say I'm using...

...

...er...

...

Internet Explorer, there, I said it !

...Yup, I'm screwed...

No particular order:

  1. Google Chrome: The king of web browsers
  2. KVIrc: Visual IRC client for minecraft and pony related chat servers
  3. KeePass 2: Encrypted password safe since I can't keep track of all my passwords
  4. Sony Vegas Pro 12: Most useful video editing software I've ever used
  5. XBMC: Powerful media center player that organizes your movies and TV shows and fetches box art, subtitles, etc with customizable skins
  6. Steam: No brainer
  7. WinSCP: FTP file transfer software for managing my server
  8. PuTTY: SSH client also for managing my server
  9. SABnzbd+/CouchPotato/Sick Beard: For automating news snatches from Usenet
  10. TeamSpeak 3: I don't like Skype and I host TeamSpeak on my server
  11. GIMP 2/PhotoShop CS6: Mostly for picture editing although I'm getting into making my own art more
