Call Of Duty. Where to begin?

I had fun with COD4 AND COD5. I loved the balanced multiplayer on Modern Warfare and the gamemode Zombies on World At War was my drug for a year. Then it all went downhill for me.

Modern Warfare 2 with its ridiculous storyline, its boring Spec-ops mission (my opinion) and the downright awful multiplayer. The storyline consisted of "shoot that thing there! Yay, you win". I basically gave up on that game's storyline. Spec-ops was fun at first until I realised that a lot of the mission were very similar to other ones. Boredom ensued. Finally, its unbalanced, unfair and downright trollable multiplayer. Campers may be rife in every first person shooter but the constant assault by grenade launchers and the constant nuke-boosting ruined the whole game for me.

Black Ops. The singleplayer was in fact playable for me, despite being a meh sort of storyline I still wanted to play through to the end. The multiplayer was awful though. The unbalanced guns and even the plastic, toyish look of the guns just killed the whole experience. Plus every map is GREY. The zombies was fantastic up to Moon. That map was too confusing, too technical and too storyline based. I wanted a map that would just be about surviving under waves of assault by zombies and what I got was activate this, suddenly no gravity. Fire missiles at the earth, suddenly random attack by astronaut.

All in all, I feel the CoD series is massively overrated and the players on it are usually 10-18 year olds who believe the answer to everything is a "Your mum" joke. I know that not everyone who plays the game is like that but a substantial amount of its players are within that category.

I LOVED Call Of Duty 1, 2, and 4. But The others, not much. I feel almost as if the consoles ruined the games for me. Or maybe it's the annoying kids who constantly mic spam everything. The kids at my school LOVE Call Of Duty, (I'm in the 8th grade, what would you expect.) and I feel as if only me and one of my friends detest it. OR, the redundancy in all of the current games. (Like COD MW2, to MW 3. I swear they're exactaly the same but with different guns.)

But going back to the console thing, that's the sh*t stopper.

I have Call Of Duty 3 on Wii, only Celestia knows why my dad ever got that. http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png The controls were god awful! FPS games should NOT be on Wii!

I also have Call Of Duty Black Ops on the 360. Playing FPS games on consoles with 2 joysticks is just awkward, and can better be done with a mouse and W A S D.

But like I said, what really turns me away is the obnoxoius kids who play it. Kind of the reason I don't play TF2 anymore.

Grammatical error!

Should be "your opinion on the Call of Duty series?"

Anyway, I voted KILL IT WITH FIRE!

Cod 4 was fun.

Cod 5 was meh.

MW2 was good for Spec Ops.

BO: No.. just no.

MW3: FFFFFFUUUUUU

The controls were god awful! FPS games should NOT be on Wii!

Metroid Prime. Metroid Prime worked wonderfully on the Wii, IMO. Edited by BrandonTehDiggar

Objection! Hold it! Take that! Gotcha! Eureka!

I like video games and anime.

I have no particular opinion on it as I've never really played them. I've played bits and pieces and some multiplayer.

Though the fact that I learned that Modern Warfare 2 has split-screen multiplayer when i didn't think it did made the game infinitely better for me cuz I need more games to play with my brother and though I don't mind online gaming (I'm very good at ignoring people on mic) I still like to play things with my brother.

I'm gonna get WoW, MW1/2/3 and Black Ops eventually when I get a job though to try the whole series out. I've never been the type to judge an entire series unless I've played a good majority of them, otherwise I don't feel like I have a proper opinion on the series but I do have an opinion on the games I have played.

It's the same dumb thing over and over again. It has never changed for almost 5 years now and it will soon be left in the dust by game developers that can understand that games need to evolve over time.

Black Ops' complete ignorance of historical accuracy overwhelmed me. More than half of the firearms featured in that game were not manufactured for another 5-9 years after the game's setting date.

Eg. FAMAS; Designed: 1967-71, In service: 1978-Present

G11: Never left prototypical stages

Steyr AUG: Designed: 1977, In service: 1979-Present

Kiparis: Designed: 1972, In service: 1991-Present

Since the title of the game is "Black Ops", my best guess is that your characters' government would be kind enough to use those weapons. It is the Cold War, after all... G11 can be found in a place owned by some crazed British dude connected with a WMD.

I played Modern Warfare 3 on PC during the free weekend, and it was pretty fun. But instead of buying it for 40 dollars, I just bought Modern Warfare 2 on PC for 5 bucks on Amazon. From what I've heard, every game in the series from Modern Warfare 1 onward is nearly the same thing but with a different story mode.

I'm not really one to complain about sequels that don't change the formula, though. After all, I'm a huge Mega Man fan.

Considering all the soldiers; Russian and American are using these weapons, I don't know.

Also, a Special Forces team are the last ones to get new weaponry. They must be perfect weapons and field-testing to extreme conditions in order to be accepted for use in combat missions.

I guess I just don't see whats so wrong about a series that doesn't change.

The Mega Man series is, overall, amazing. Mega Man 1-6 were all great games, and unless you're like me, you wouldn't be able to look at a screenshot of any one of them and know what game it was from. Things were changed up a little in Mega Man 7 and 8, but they were still very good. Then Mega Man 9 and 10 went back to the style of the NES games, and I don't think most people complained.

The Mega Man X series was, overall, a hodgepodge. Mega Man X 1-4 were amazing games. Things changed a bit for Mega Man X5, but it was still generally fun. Something went dreadfully wrong with X6's level design and boss battles though, and Capcom thought the solution was to turn everything into a poor Devil May Cry ripoff with X7. And when that didn't help, they made X8, which had all the same problems as X6. And then Capcom just threw its arms in the air and said "I QUIT!". Instead of trying to fix the problems they had introduced into the series in X5 and X6, they tried to change things up radically, and the result was a badly executed game that no one wanted to play in the first place.

Changing the formula, more often than not, hurts the franchise. What series have gained notoriety for changing everything up radically? The only ones I can think of are Castlevania (twice over, now) and... well, do the 3D Mario titles count? And most spinoff series don't count, for obvious reasons. Also, in the case of series that were never good but refuse to die anyway, yeah, change is necessary.

Gamers like consistency. They want to continue to enjoy what they enjoy. We shouldn't expect radically different games in the same series. That should be the job of new IPs.

Anyways, that's just my three cents on the matter. Feel free to agree or disagree.

I'm pretty sure cod might be a good game...I'll know, I won't play it. Especially since my entire school consist of cod fanboys and think sexual and rasict jokes are the funniest and should be said every 5 minutes.

I own two, and I have played almost all of them. I like them but as most people say I have to agree that it's the same thing over and over again. The good thing is though, that I like that they put out the same thing since I like what they do!

I've played them all expect Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. I think they haven't been good since 4. 4 had a good somewhat believable campaign and had a really fun and balanced multi-player, 64 player team death-match was a blast. WaW was mediocre, not even the zombies saved it for me. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops were just awful, the multi-players are just a mess, and the campaigns are just crappy over the top action movie bollocks.

An Example: The No Russian level in CoD: MW2, you play as an uncover Marine CPL put there by the CIA. You follow 3 terrorist  including the ringleader, whathisface, into the airport. You're armed with and M4/M203 and a M240. My first thought as the level starts up and the 3 guys open fire was why don't I just hang back put a 203 round at the feet of the 2 goons and then put a couple of rounds of M4 or M240 into the back of the ringleaders head, and double tap the buggers just to make sure. Bad guys dead, limited civilian deaths, no dead CIA agent to cause war between USA and Russia, Job done, Game Over, I Win, Right?

I think the Campaign in the Medal of Honour reboot is soo much better

In the ranger mission, I actually cheered when the Apaches saved my arse from getting overrun. Also, I actually felt sad at the Death of one of the player characters whereas in Call of Duty, it was more WTF?

OH, also MW, MW2 and MW3 = MechWarrior (1989), MechWarrior 2 (1995), and MechWarrior 3 (1998) NOT Modern Warfare

Overall I think that this Gaming generation is basically defined by shooting games, the problem with that however is that creativity in developers has become stale. The problem being developers that think they can emulate the success of the COD series and that just leaves a huge gap in the quality of games.

I don't want to touch the modern warfare series besides the new one (WAAAAAAAAAY too repetitive) HOWEVER black ops is really fun and Nazi zombies is one of the funest games I've played (especially in co op)
