It's the same thing MW3 was the last one i buy, my opinion on all of them:

COD4: Best one

WaW: Almost as good as COD4

MW2: It just was a bad game better then MW3 but still bad

Black ops: is only good for the zombies

MW3: WTF Is this!?

In my opinion the series peaked at Call of Duty 4 and since then has been reshipped year after year with little innovations and only mediocre additions.

The true quality of the Call of Duty series lays in the original Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2.

I don't really see the appeal about games, where the single-player is mostly like one big movie and when you finally get to play, the game doesn't offer any choice, to do things the way you want. (turret sections and cinematics are perfect examples of ways to limit your freedom) And the fact that the multi player is copied from the previous games and has a poor progression system doesn't help.

Apart from that (me being a pc-gamer) you could start looking at why you shouldn't buy it for the pc: the Fov is locked to 60, the graphics are bad, and even indie companies make better shooters.

I will probably never own a copy of CoD, and it's not just because I think it's bad, but because it threatens originality in the gaming industry. Because CoD is so damn popular, brilliant games that are developed by other companies especially indie don't get a chance.

I also, will Never buy anything developed by Activision after they supported SOPA.

I had a ton of fun with Finest Hour and Call of Duty 3. Or was Finest Hour a Medal of Honor game? I have no idea.

COD4 was good fun too, but COD 5 was the best. I loved that game. o3o

MW2 was lolzy, had a lot of fun in that as much of a broken game it was. Black Ops was meh and I haven't played since.

I have no problem with the games themselves. They're all fun to me, and that's what matters. I don't particularly care if a game is historically accurate or innovative or not, so long as I enjoy playing it.

That said, ever since Call of Duty 4, it's been growing at an exponential rate. Inevitably, the larger the fanbase grows, the more "undesirables" (in this case, young kids with mics, people who play the game primarily for stats [and as a result, make the game less fun by mostly sitting in corners], ignorant people who refuse to be civil in how they communicate with others, etc.) you will have. Most of these things are easily remedied by simply muting everyone.

Basically, if at any time the games stop being fun to you, stop playing them. Find something else to do that you enjoy.

With that said, I'll analyze the individual games that I've played now:

CoD3: Campaign was sort of fun, multi was frustrating sometimes, fun others. I can't say very much, it's CoD3, lol

CoD4: Great campaign, one of my favorites, but let's face it, the multi was full of fragspam. That didn't make it any less fun. It was simple enough for it to feel streamlined, but had enough customization for you to change it up and make it fun. Sure, people mostly used one of a couple different classes, but that didn't restrict what you used.

CoD W@W: Unlike most people, I had fun with this. The campaign was...interesting, and the Pacific was a nice change of pace from the Eastern front. That and Kiefer Sutherland's voice is the best thing ever. The vehicles in multi were centralizing, but there were easy ways to get around them and they weren't on every map. Zombies...I can't say too much about that because I didn't get any DLC, but from what I heard it was the best part of the game. Overall it was pretty fun, at least for me.

CoD MW2: The campaign was fun, but made little to no sense. It didn't tell a good story, but it was damn fun to play. Multi was a lulzfest. The customizable killstreaks were both a blessing and a curse - on the one hand, you aren't restricted to the standard three, but on the other, the skies are a constant shitstorm. Up until now, all the maps in the series have been quite good, but in my opinion, there were some here that just didn't feel right. Spec Ops felt disjointed as anything, and it never felt like I was accomplishing anything until I got all 69 stars (and the Platinum trophy, lol). Sure, a lot of things were broken, but I enjoyed everything thoroughly.

CoD BO: It was a very different approach to the campaign, but I think it told the best story and was still fun and simultaneously unique. I loved the amount of customization available in multi, especially the emblem. All of the weapons were usable and fun, and a lot of the maps were well made and played differently. Zombies (again, no DLC) was even better than in W@W, I thought. Probably my favorite.

CoD MW3: The campaign was a much better version of MW2's, not much more to say about that. Multi, from what I've done, is basically a balanced version of MW2's. It's not as fun, in my opinion, but it's still enjoyable. The maps are overall pretty subpar, though. Spec Ops...meh. The improved campaign balances out the multi, in my mind.

I heard someone mention medal of honor, NOW THAT WAS A REALLY EXTREMELY FUN GAME. Me and my friend played that for hours, same with me and my dad lol.

And one thing that COD needs to add to make it more enjoyable is ACTUALLY DRIVABLE vechicles.

I own CoD4, MW2, Black Ops, and MW3, but I'm not crazy into them. I mostly just play them to relax. They're pretty good and I've been having fun with MW3, but I wish that they would update the graphics and change up some of the mechanics because it is a bit repetitive.

Battlefield 3.

They aren't bad. I like the single-player the most. I prefer the Battlefield games for multiplayer though. Can't do this in CoD:

http-~~-//www.youtube.c...ture=plpp_video

Flying jets. Can't do that in BF3 without a joystick.

My Review of the games:

CoD 4: Played this everyday in the computer lab Freshman year. The only good times that I had during Freshman year were in this game. Best sniping of any CoD game.

WaW: Don't own it, but I've played the Singleplayer a couple times. Pretty good. Can't say anything about the multi, though.

MW2: I really disliked this game. Killstreaks were too op. Guns were unbalanced. Danger close/One Man Army/n00b tubes.

Black Ops: Loved this game. The multiplayer was a bit slow, but it was still fun. The single player was above par for CoD games imho. The guns were pretty balanced and even the crappy guns were usable.

MW3: I'm having fun playing this, but it gets a bit repetitive and the map cycles aren't as good as black ops. There are some maps that almost never get played because of this (Bakaara, Carbon, Outpost [some of my favorite maps]). Guns are fairly balanced, but not as much as Black Ops. The singleplayer was fun, but not as good as Black Ops. I do <3 the killstreak system in this game. Not everyone runs the same crap, and specialist killstreaks are boss.

I dislike it because of a few reasons, the infamous community, the fact that there is a new one every year that looks almost the same as the last but with a larger price, and that the DLC costs a fair bit of money.

however I'd be lying if I ever said I have played any CoD game for more than 20 minutes, I do not own any but I have played at friends house's.

People who hate the game obviously sucks at it.

No, people who hate the game have developed their own personal opinion of the game.

I very much hate Black Ops but if you think I suck at it then you haven't seen my game statistics.

  • 1 year later...

I own the very first call of duty and I say, it's the only cod which I find the multiplayer to be fun. Modern warfare had a pretty awesome campaign, but I feel it just went downhill since. They are making a big deal about everything they suddenly have now, that other games had years ago.

It's the same dumb thing over and over. I lost interea t in the seriea with franchise killing Modern Warfare 2. Ever since it has been about who can kill their opponets first with guns that don't miss and whoever can get to their killstreaks first so most of their kills involve using cheap decices that can kill others without even hitting them.

Run on sentence, I know. But, the series hasn't been truly good since MW1/WaW and hasn't been great since CoD2.

It's fun for the first few hours, until it starts to get extremely repetitive, I'm not one to buy the series anymore, nor do I plan on buying any in the future, the only good one in the series is the first one.

It was a toss-up between "KILL IT WITH FIRE" and "same dumb thing options" for me. I chose the latter in the end because perhaps it used to be ok in the beginning, but it really is the same dumb thing over and over and over and over and over again. And it's not just CoD, but MW, Halo, and whatever other FPS games are out there. Once you've played one, you've effectively played them all. There's only a handful of modern FPS games that might be worth playing. Emphasis on might. They were a lot better in the old days, with games like Goldeneye 64 and the original DOOM games exemplifying everything that an FPS ought to be.

I don't enjoy it at all I can see why some enjoy it and although the story is garbage it's not really fair to judge it on that. The later games have never been marketed as a single player experience or for their stories they are solely multiplayer games with a cut and paste story tacked on.It's incredibly dull and repetitive between games and really has no innovation in the slightest. I apologise for generalising I know not all people who play it are like that but a VAST majority are but the online community is just appalling CoD. ragers, Squeakers talking about f*cking your mother when they get killed or kill you (truly charming) trolls as far as they eye can see. All communities have these people but my online experience on black ops one tells me CoD has by far the largest. I loved the early CoD games but you won't catch me playing the later ones

I still remember the Campaign for the Original Call of Duty 1-3 and the multiplayer as well, Campaign was great but multiplayer was boring.

When Call of Duty 4 Was introduced I had lost it all with a Amazing storyline and a even better Multiplayer with a few cheap perks and all.

Then they're was World at War which in Return made my list on the best of this year of course for being back in WWII.

After WAW was MW2 which had a some what great singleplayer with a non-stop multiplayer full of Glitches. It was still fun to play though.

MW3 was terrible and the same goes from Black Ops 1, 2 and Declassified. From there the ball was dropped completely.

I don't have a problem with FPS. In fact, I like a few shooters myself, but CoD has become just yearly cashgrab rehashes just like EA with FIFA and Madden.
