I don't get why you spell it X-Mas. What's with the censorship of the full word?!

Saying X-Mas completely drains the word of all meaning. Actually X-Mas isn't EVEN a word.

Anyway, enough about that (sorry, its a bit of a pet-peeve)

I like christmas. I love seeing my whole extended family together for one day. Its nice family time.

I don't care for commercialism of course, but eh *shrug*. Not gonna let that ruin it for me img-1973585-1-wink.png

I always associate christmas with all kinds of good memories, traditions, and feelings though.

Also, the best day of my life was on christmas in 2004. That was the year it not only SNOWED, but snowed ON CHRISTMAS ohmy.png Do yall even have a clue how exceedingly rare it is to even go below freezing, let alone for SNOW ON CHRISTMAS in far south texas?! SERIOUSLY, IT WAS A DAMN MIRACLE. prior to 2004, the last time we saw substantial snowfall was around 70-100 years ago. Most of us had never even seen snow before. It wasn't even gross snow. It was perfect, it looked like pure, glittery sugar and was fluffy/crunchy.

Really, I just don't care. At this point in my life I don't really expect presents anymore. I hate it when people get all up in arms about what it should be called. You know, if someone says Merry Christmas, why the fuck do people get so offended by it? How was that person supposed to know? I understand people getting upset when the other person gets defensive. But really, don't be an ass about it. That goes for both sides of this argument. If someone says Merry Christmas, and you don't celebrate it, you can respectfully say, "Sorry, but I don't celebrate Christmas. My family is x." And the other guy could just be like, "Okay, that's my bad. Sorry about that." It's awful that we can't be like this. I mean, I like getting the kids presents and all. That's great. Kids love this time of the year. But really, I don't care about this time of the year except for the beauty of the autumn leaves and the winter snows.

Gonna say it outright: anybody who doesn't like Christmas is a Grinch! :P

I love Xmas for how much cheer there is. Nice cozy fires, pretty lights sparkling with the snow, garland wrapped around everything and a nice Lionel train set handed down from my Grandfather. Xmas isn't about the presents or the decorations, it's about bringing people together and having a joyous time.

Christmas is probably one of my favorite holidays.

Not only do you get amazing things, which that's mostly what people only look forward too, but I get to spend time with my wonderful family. Opening presents, watching my siblings open theirs. Having some hot cocoa with my family by a fire. It's a relaxing time of the year when everyone is happy.

I usually put my Christmas tree up at the end of November. xD I'm crazy, right? :P

Yay, presents! But much more importantly, yay for winter break! Getting to lounge around (mostly) is the best part of Christmas. Being back home with plenty of free time to hang around with family members (only the cool ones though) is what brings me the greatest joy during the winter holidays.

Oh, and yay for sleeping on the couch in front of the Christmas tree, trying to catch "Santa Claus" bringing in presents. It's become sort of a tradition at this point. I'm surprised that in all these years, I still haven't managed to catch him wacko.png.

I usually love Christmas/Christmastime/Winterthing. However, I've been working in retail for four years, and that kinda takes the shine off, to put it mildly. ;P I'm sure once I get out of retail hell I'll go back to loving it.

It's great and fuzzy and wonderful, as everyone else has mentioned. I find myself often getting sick of Christmas's joys such as music and decorations though, by the time the actual day comes. Can't even enjoy Thanksgiving, let alone its' entire month, without every media source and store bombarding you with Christmas crap.

I think I've actually gotten extremely bored of Christmas music over the years, honestly. If it weren't so goddamn commercialized then maybe that wouldn't be so.

Honest;y, I think I just like the word itself; hearing it add reading it. Such a nice sounding word. wub.png

Oh. The day itself isn't half bad either, though. Family, warm fire, good food and gifts, the whole shebang is great.

But that word

I love Christmas beyond measure, no lie. My favourite time of the year by far.

And it's not just the presents, it's the kind of feeling in the air... I don't really know how to describe it, but it's like you can feel the happiness of everyone around you, and the cheer of the whole occasion. Its also a time to worship God, which I'm all for. It's a wonderful thing, I just love it. :)

I love Christmas because of that heartwarming feeling of winter clothes, Christmas decorations, family, and I have winter break that year :) Plus it's the time where I can sit back and relax and not worry about school for 2 weeks :D

Christmas is by far my favourite time of year. I remember Christ's birth and life for one thing. Then there's Handel's Messiah and Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite whose live performances I look forward to every year. Then there's all the caroling I do on the piano with my friends and family! And the gifts! And the... mistletoe? Maybe. Just maybe :3.

So yeah. Christmas is the best time of the year.

I originally put Meh but changed it to Love it. I remembered all the happy memories I have of Christmases gone by. How I couldn't sleep the night before, the thrill of seeing the presents nicely wrapped. But it's not about the presents it really is. It's about family. Every Christmas my Grandparents and Uncle would join us for Christmas lunch and celebrations.  It was great biggrin.png

While I don't call it Christmas, I still adore the winter season and holidays. Decorating the tree and thinking about what the season really means to me is always something I cherish. But spending time with loved ones is even better. I'm finally home for school for a month after what feels like eternity, and it's just wonderful to spend time with my favorite people. So overall, Yule is my favorite time of the year and I look forward to it :)

I've chosen "other" so I guess it's time to explain- why. Well, let me put it this way. Now a days christmas are awfully commercial and too many people care more about getting expensive gifts than about being with their families or friends. At least that is how christmas look in Poland. And all this "shopping frenzy", aren't there more important things to do on christmas than sitting in shop for whole day because there are numerous "discounts" (that are fake actually, at least in Poland. Once again at least in Poland :P ). This is thing I dislike about christmas. And it really takes away amazing atmosphere of christmas that I felt when I was "little filly" :P

On the other hand there are people who still know what christmas is about. They are not in my family sadly, but one time I was abroad and spent them with my friends family. Atmosphere was simply beautiful and it was obvious that his family members were really close to each other. It is how I would want my family to spend this time. And it is how every family should spend it. That is of course my opinion. If someone disagrees- fine, I am ok with that :P Anyway this is thing I like about christmas. It almost does not exist in my place anymore sadly. So yeah, overall I can say that my opinion is... mixed :P I suppose this word will do :)

I love Christmas mainly because I get to spend the entire day with my brothers. I don't necessarily care about presents. I just care about seeing them and having a blast. Being together with my family and forgetting about all our troubles just for one day so we can have a wonderful time together. It's very nice. That's why I love Christmas. smile.png

This is one of the most beautiful posts I've ever seen.

For me, its exactly the same. Seeing family on Christmas is the best part.

I have so many memories of this holiday from when I was younger. Waking up in the morning, and walking into the dimly lit living room to see a majestic tree with a ton of colorfully wrapped presents underneath of it. I know it may sound corny, but to a kid Christmas can be magical.

I voted "Other"

I like Christmas, but I understand the values behind it, not the values the malls and big box stores want you to have.
I also know that it is not originally a Christian holiday, but a pagan one, which is more my thing. It was a feast, in celebration of the Winter Solstice, which actually would have been celebrated on the 21st historically, not the 25th.

I'm pretty neutral about Christmas, to be honest. I don't get many good gifts or anything, and it usually don't throw Christmas parties or anything, so for me it's not that big of a deal.

I used to love it as a kid! Now all it does is bring me down and remind me of how all of my childhood happiness has slowly died, as I could do nothing but watch it fade away, and hope for a miracle that never came, and that now the only thing left of it is the memory that I can only wish for to come back and glue the pieces of my shattered soul back together.

I feel grey about Christmas, I generally do not celebrate it and just don't really care about it. Where people go "OH GOD YES!!!!" I go, "Meh."

My opinion.
