I'm also pretty close to the finish, chapter fourty-three. I think.. I started reading approximately five weeks ago :P

I have to say, at the beginning, I felt a bit cheated... Yes, the story was pretty nice and interesting, but the basic quality of the writing wasn't really that good... :/ There were many basic mistakes that shouldn't be in a story, for example Kkat broke the Chekhov's gun -rule in about every other paragraph, and the parenthesis-usage -mistakes are still driving me crazy xD I actually thought several times about stopping, but then I decided "NO. I will read this now that I've started." And so, I almost have :3 And I'm not as thoroughly disappointed as I thought I'd be. AND it got me into playing Fallout myself ^^

It's a great story with a good plot, but I honestly think people give it way too much credit...

Oh where to begin...

Fallout Equestria... I love the concept... I hate the story.

I love future-istic post holocaustic stories and I love the Fallout games but this story- just falls flat with me. I enjoyed the first 20 some odd chapters but the second half of the story really killed it for me and I have never been able to more then skim through the last few chapters. This story was way too long and just drug on over repetitive issues.

First, the positive

I like how Kkat thrust an entire world of colorful ponies into the most darkest depths of humanities worst

His execution of events of the past that lead to the futures present was really good for the most part and I really liked most of the characters...

All but one...

The negative:

My biggest gripe lies with the main character herself... I absolutely hate Little Pip

This story is based off a game and reads just like a game and in this game the difficulty is set on super easy and and the AI on triple stupid.

(Of my opinion) You cannot base a character on couriosity and luck.... that to me.. reeks of author intervention.

This character goes from absolute world knowledgeable virgin and in less then 6 months become goddess of war and is practicly handed everything including skills that takes a lifetime to achive and got away with events that would get anyone else killed in a heartbeat.

Sorry but the more it dragged on, the worse it got for me

Well this is only a fraction of my views on this story but I don't want to get into spoilers so I'm ending it here.

Again.. I like the concept and if this story would have ended around the mid 30s I wouldnt be as upset over it

I personally loved Fallout Equestria. I am a big fan of the Fallout games, and although MLP and Fallout seem like an odd combination I think they work well together.

FOE was the first MLP fanfic I read, and it is probably what caused me to really start getting into all the fan created content for MLP.

I hope that they keep working on the radio play version of it that is being made, because what they have gotten done so far has been great IMO.

It's a character from a really awesome web-comic called Not a Villain. That's what the main character looks like in real time as she lives in a post-apocalyptic future.

I think a game would be far fetched but great! I actually think somepony on YouTube made a little movie, or is going to. 2013 fallout Equestria trailer I think. Don't have the link off hand sorry :(

Holy sh*t, can we, like, talk about Fallout Equestria for a second?

Like, for real.

I normally shun fanfics like the plague, but the curiosity caught the better of me.

I started by reading the comic version of it (I loved that too), but it ran out fairly early (when she saves Ghoul-Derpy).

So, I said "YOLO", not wanting to wait, and started reading it. I'm hooked, now.

I love the violence, the depressing aspect of it, the concept, the story, the characters (especially Littlepip), the dark humor, the whole shebang.

The part where Littlepip was torn-up by fever but was overcome with devastating horniness caught me off guard x)

Funny, this story was actually how i was introduced to the fandom. I didn't even know what i was reading the first several minutes. Just imagine how surprised i was when they started talking about magic, cutie-marks, and what not. I was like "Wait, whaaaat?". The writing was so compelling that i kept reading on and on. I was reading it between breaks at my workplace to kill time, but it was so good i started reading it in my free time at home, too.

Had to watch the show around ch. 15 i think, it started getting on my nerves because i couldn't comprehend most of the references they made and the concepts they imported from the show.

I'm planning to re-read it sometime in the future.

I read the story a while ago, and it's fantastic, but I have read some other fanfictions that I enjoyed better. Nonetheless, it's an amazing read that everyone should read, and if you liked the original the spin offs are great too.

I absolutely loved it. Read through the whole thing twice. I would have read it again, but it takes up so much time. I'll probably re-read it again later though. It actually is what convinced me to play the Fallout games and I love them too. I would actually say that this story is not only the best fanfiction I've ever read, but is better than most real published novels out there. It's just fantastic.

The typographical errors can be a slight immersion breaker for me, but the writing is still very good. And I respect Kkat for wanting to keep it as it was, even with the errors every so often.

Someone wanted a discussion and I’m willing to discuss this issue.

Again, I don't mind the story in it of its self (although I'm not too crazy over the whole Steelhooves thing near the story's end.)

What drives me bug-eyed is how this fandom throws walleyed fits over Mary-Sue characters, except over the biggest Mary Sue character in the whole fandom and I’m talking about Little Pip.

Here is a list of things, and I really hope someone contradicts me on these.

To Summarize, I want to point out story length... (as in time line wise). Everything from story beginning to story end, in the present settings all takes place in about a 6-month period. From which our main character manages after leaving her only home where she literately grew up under a rock, then in turn saved the whole world from the past 200 years of self-induced insane anarchy, and managed to wipe out all the main players through the sole use of luck and curiosity (which alone absolutely screams Mary Sue).

One of my biggest problems is that only hours after she leaves her home (a virgin in the ways of the world) who has never harmed so much more than a fly on the wall and didn’t even know how weapons worked, has quickly learned how to kill merely by watching someone else. Her only excuse is that she’s a fast learner and to a point, I can believe that. But even then after the initial contact, she suddenly an expert with all weapons and don’t give ne no crap that’s it’s all in that damned PipBuck. That’s the first thing I will point out as being total BS cause target assist or not, it is YOU, who is pulling the trigger. If she had been born into the outside world, where she grew up with all the violence and honed a skill of fighting then this would be believable. But it’s not and this is the first point of Mary-Sueisim her only real world skill was in lock picking. Now I’m not saying that you can’t take some young kid, put a gun in their hands, and say you shoot that person over there because if you don’t they will kill you. Ask any veteran (of which I am one). It happens… but they’re not a trained killers overnight. It takes years to be able to get where this character has even in the worst war time scenarios

This brings me to another point, the over powered magic, again, (Mary Sueisim #2) Within days, she is managing feats of magical strength that it’s taken other who are specialized in heavy lifting years of intense train-ing (pun intended) and uses it to miraculously and conveniently, to crush her first major opponent of the story. And it’s this sudden ability to levitate massive heavy objects and in many cases still manage to expertly shoot and kill at the same time. (Yes its magic and nobody aint godda splan shit)(don’t waste your breath on internet meme Bullshit, I don’t care and will ignore it as droolie drivel.)

These are my two biggest bitches about her as a character

Some more minor yet irritating facts, was that the character was designed around two distinct natural genetic flaws, 1: she’s the runt of the litter and 2: she has 200 years of inbreeding. Both of which would be a serious item in any natural settings of a story of this magnitude but are divinely overlooked by the author and ignored by the fans. Which makes this Mary Sue point #3.

Now all that said, I say that I am not trying to start a flame war or anything only making observations points as I see them.

I want someone to tell me where I’m wrong.

And again, it’s not that I dislike the story but the way the main character is written and the ways that the fandom just blindly exonerates it astounds me to no end.

I finished Fallout: Equestria last night. I have had so many things to do this summer, but I'm glad I decided this would be my summer reading. One of the best reads I've ever had, this silly pony fic has moved me in ways no other piece of fiction has. Seriously.
