I've seen a wide variety of pics with the faceless one, but just never understood where it comes from or what it represents.

 

So sounding like a complete freakin noob.... I don't get it, nor all the hype about it.

While I guess it's cool to have some more direct evidence that the animators are aware of the overlap between various fandoms and our own, I personally feel this reference is kind of a day late and a dollar short; if there's any creepypasta legend that has overstayed its welcome, it's definitely Slenderman. And Jeff the Killer.
Again, the gesture is appreciated, but as far as a Slenderman not-fan such as myself is concerned, I must put forth once again: Meh.

My biggest complaint on this so far is I only see youtube video's used as "proof"... youtube is as bout as trustworthy for things generally as a seedy tabloid magazine.

But I just checked the iTunes release version.. yep... right there in full HD... Without possible hacked stuff, and no crazy adverts blocking the view...

 

 

 

 

 

The thing that actually gets me though, looking at it.. his appearance is so blazing fast, you have to check it frame by frame... some people really need some hobbies... Theres no other way to catch this outside of a random pause just nailing it...

TBH my question is whats the problem with them? They don't interfere with the show in any way at all (or at least have yet too), and add a little extra for people who do notice them... I still question the Applelicious thing though as all I heard upon rewatching the scene was "I'm apple... uh oh"..  she could've just been about to say applebloom,  as easily as applelicious.

 

Regardless though.. I don't see how these are in any way a problem so long as they remain hidden, blended, or just in the back drop. Making them blatant would interfere with the show, but apparently some would rather that nothing is thrown in? Easter eggs are supposed to be fun, funny, hidden and random, not something you're meant to notice right away.

 

 

Just throwing them in would mean intruding upon the show.  Its also more difficult to squeeze such things in (slendermane and angry cat would've been impossible without having them as plot points, or otherwise meaningless side jokes with little impact on those that didn't know. Ruining it for both those that got the reference, and those that didn't.)

 

So far the references made are seamlessly integrated and executed. Ones that can be thrown in (Pinkies duck face. Even if you don't get the joke, its still funny since she's making the funny face) are thrown in directly and very well. Ones that just wouldn't work are slipped in as easter eggs and don't intrude on the show at all.

But it is done in the similar mood and rhythm as the "Xlicious" videos out there. One cannot confuse this with anything else, even if some parts of it are missing or changed deliberately. They didn't finish the phrase in the show to leave a safety exit for themselves. You know, they can always excuse: "But she didn't say Applelicious".

Can't say I've ever seen these vids, nor looked tbh. Like I said, to me it just looked like a good old fashioned victory dance with a randomly thrown together "I'm awesome" song.
