Why couldn't we just get a pony movie?

No not E.G.

Why couldn't we just got a movie about the cast as ponies, doing ponie things.

see this?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Little_Pony:_Equestria_Girls

70 min run time.

That's over the length of 3 episodes with an on going focus.  I truely believe DHX aka studio b has a panic attack when they have to go over 22 mins.

It's why two parters start to fall apart in the later half.

Hell it's why Equistrian girls kinda goes of the tail in the end.

Now I prefer adventure myself,

but imagine if we had a solid slice of life movie?

Imagine a movie like pinkie applie pie?

Just think about that.  70 mins of in depth look at pinkie pie.

and not the dumb pinkie pie.

Imagine 70 mins learning about equistrian history?  I mean sure their's be a reason for it, but their would be time to give out details.  I imagine this would be twilight heavy.

Imagine the wonder bolts shown as something other than jerks, cause, for once the writing staff would have the time to do it.  Maybe wrap up rainbow dashes interaction, or resolve it for crying out loud.

How about 70 mins to have the cutie mark crusade end?

that's movie worthy right?

Rarity get a massive conflict to get a shop in canterlot....

granted with her having a princess as a best friend and a national hero,

you'd think she could just get one,

that would be something?

To be fair I don't think they could do alot with flutter shy,

and unless the apple family went for some deep feels about the parents it would be retreading old territory.

there's so many other things besides humans.

While a movie would certainly be really cool, it seems like they would have to make it pretty much a long 3-part episode, considering how many of the 2 parter's in the series already feel almost like a movie anyway.... At least they do for me...

Thank you Apple, I love it so much!

Normally I would just post the picture, but as it seems, it is too big to put in the signature here, so here is the link to my MLP personality test results:

Because then Hasbro couldn't get a foothold in the teenaged fashionista doll market.

They want a piece of that pre-teen girl, hair/make up/clothes, "additional accessories sold separately" pie.

Yeah an actual pony movie would be cool but I just realized something. Besides Equestria Girls, I haven't seen a theatrical release for a movie off a show since 2007 with the Simpsons Movie.

That's because it costs a lot more to distribute movies to theaters, and T.V. shows, even if they're popular, have a hard time bringing in consumers that aren't already fans of the show. So why bother? Just make a movie like you would a normal episode, with a bigger production budget, and broadcast it into the homes of people you already know will watch it.

Because we'd have to give up EQG.

Though... I think a movie would make a great finale. This has been discussed before.

The main problem is that  it's a girls' series. It's okay for action figures and apparently friggin' board games to get movies--big budgeted blockbusters at that--but girls' toys, no matter how popular, get made-for-TV/direct-to-home-media specials (I hesitate to actually call them movies) with mediocre (at best) animation, annoying voice acting, and saccharine, shallow, flimsy so-called stories that double as advertisements.

Right, Barbie? >_>

The thing that really strikes me as funny/ironic/hypocritical this talk about money is when you think about how Hasbro has made hundreds of billions from movies for Transformers, GI Joe, and even Battleship, so why not a franchise almost as popular? Even Generation 1 got a (crappy) movie back in the 80s, so why not a superior reincarnation??? :o

Well i had heard from people like the mysterious mr enter (yeah i know terrible source)

Equistrian girls was suppose to get it's own cartoon.

Why didn't hasbro just do that?

Have it's own spin off series.  I mean be honest we'd all give it a look.

but i hardly see why it had to be a movie.

I kind of got the impression that Equestria Girls was not so much a movie, as it was a made for TV movie that  received a very limited theatrical run.

If you look at it that way, it's a great format for exploring the EG universe as you can make a MFTVM once a year instead of having to devote the resources to a full spin off series. FiM doesn't need that since it already is a TV show.

I think I'm going to have to agree with what most people are saying about a FiM movie.  I'm not opposed to the idea by any stretch of the imagination.  But I don't see a movie (theatrical or not) really adding anything to the dynamic of the show that isn't already there.  If anything, we should be cautious around the idea of Hasbro doing a FiM movie, because more often than not, movies based on their franchises are used to promote new toy lines, as has been the case with Equestria Girls.  Love them or hate them, you can't really argue that those movies weren't made to promote new toys.  So the same could end up being for a FiM movie, and it's possible that the show itself could be affected as a result.

Well the problem with some of these ideas is that there stories are really simple and only focus on 1 or 4 characters. That and I think it would be harder to make, Pinkie Apple Pie, even longer. They would always need to find some way to make it longer to the point where it would just be filler. That's kinda why I think most episode would not be good 2 parters. Because they would need to make it longer. Now yes they could have a really go deep into Pinkie Pie, but some kids might find that boring and some may just not like that idea. I mean it sounds like a boring movie. So if Hasbro did that and the movie tanked, they would most likely never make an MLP movie again.

For MLP to get a movie it has to be a story that can not be told in half an hour or 22 minutes and it has to involve everyone.

As for why not make EQ a show. Maybe they just wanted to see how it did before making it into a show. See if it would make them money.

I was wondering why we don't have a pony movie too.  One of my gripes with the Apple family story is that, as a TV Y program, it can't be told as thoroughly as it should.  A movie would be free of that restraint.  Maybe Applejack's parents died doing something important to protect Equestria?  Their sacrifice saved the day then but the threat has returned and now the Mane 6 have to confront the something or someone that cost Applejack's folks their lives.

I'd love to see AJ out for some payback.  B)

To me, a pony movie would seem like something that'd work best as a series ender. I don't think having pony movies sporadically between seasons would really add anything of value to the show's continuity, and even if they did, their production would pull quite a bit of resources away from producing the actual show. Of course, one could argue that the EqG movies are also pulling resources away from the show's production (after all, why else was se03 so brief?), but, well, nobody ever said those movies were necessary either.

Basically, I'm just concerned about preserving the quality of the show itself. Save the pony movie for the culminating adventure to wrap up the series 5 years down the road, I'd say.

I have been wondering this too, I so want a Friendship is Magic movie, as opposed to another Equestria Girls movie, yet I can not help but notice maybe they are staling for time. It would be the first movie to feature the ponies since the full length fiascos that was generation three, and Hasbro has had difficult times with new Care Bear movies, never even topping the success of the original 1985 film, so it could be a business decision to hold until something good is pitched by the executives, besides the bronies can be a tough audience, I mean just look now and see all the strife vented at Hasbro, can't really blame them if the fandom is that bellicose. Now, there may still be a pony film, we have possibly five years to see if one would finally come our way, whether it is a good film, or just fair good things come to those who wait, for now let us continue to watch the show, and honour the new Equestria Girls movie with our attention before we critique or review.

I agree that a pony movie would just be like a three part episode, and I don't really think it's all that necessary to be honest.

Also, I don't believe that Equestria Girls was created solely due to greed. Hasbro is obviously attempting to make more money from it, but they could very well be using this extra money for FiM.

Because they want to hold that over our heads a bit longer.

In all seriousness, Hasbro has to think about all it's toy lines.  MLP is already selling well, but EG is not.  They want to take another stab at the movies to see if they can spark interest in the line.
