well, my favorite is fluttershy when shes evil (either during Best Night Ever or during Return of Harmony, both are great), but thats not really a character. i like them all about the same, and my "favorite" generally is decided by whoever was the focus of the last episode i watched. but when im forced to decide, i say rainbow dash.

I am very fond of Rarity and Fluttershy, but Twilight Sparkle is my favourite pony. As for why, I'll quote myself from another forum: "for her mind, her courage, her unique mix of childlike innocence and adult knowledge, and for how heart-breaking the scene was when Discord defeated her, however briefly. And the emotional see-saw back up the other side when she reread all the letters she had sent to the Princess.

 

Of course, Fluttershy is still the most adorable of all ponies and Rarity's is still the most interesting and nuanced personality, so I'll probably change my mind again in a week or two."

I actually have trouble choosing a favorite pony. I can identify with so many of them: Fluttershy's shyness and love of critters, Twilight's antisocialness and love of learning, Rainbow knowing what she wants to do with her life and dtermination to get there, Applejack's toughness and stubborness and insanely large family, Rarity's artistic nature and (as seen in Suited for success) inability to say 'no' to her friends, and Pinkie's crazyness. It's so hard to choose just one as my favorite!

 

But I guess Twilight, Pinkie, and Rainbow win out for me.
