Reasons why you'd be opposed for Humans entering Equestria?

Warning: Warhammer 40k fans, this thread may contain extremely high levels of heresy and misanthropy.

 

I am opposed to Humans coming to Equestria, not because I think Humanity would just declare exterminatus on Equestria, (which I don't, I'm not a misanthrope) but Humans are not really relevant to the show. Though I do like Human in Equestria fan fiction.

 

However, I would find it hilarious if 'Human in Equestria' became canon and many of the misanthropic Bronies rage all over the Internet. I think the drama might be unreal.

I wouldn't like to see it in the TV show because it would make for a worse show and at TV-Y they couldn't handle the strong politics that would come from it.

 

In real life I think the ponies and the humans have a TON of things that they could help each other with and the serendipity of such a permanent cultural exchange would be tremendous. 

 

Note that I think this is a limited time thing -- Ponies would have a lot less in common with us // would offer us less in say 50 years.

I wouldn't mind if there were humans in Equestria, but there needs to be a good, plausible reason to have them there in the first place. They should not  copy and paste every plot of the Human in Equestria fan fictions, they need to do it right

 

But if you ask me, keep humans out of the show. Have them solely in fan fictions, only.

If this was a real life scenario, I would definitely prefer that humans stay out of Equestria, even if that means I can't enter either. Humans would no doubt end up eventually doing to them what they did to Native Americans, the Spanish, Muslims, etc. There are a lot of good humans, but a select few have power over 90% of the earth, and their power and influence is too great.. Not to mention that humans would bring their technology, including nukes (unless there was some law developed to protect lesser developed planets by not allowing the use of advanced technology there, ala Star Ocean 3)

 

Edit: Besides, if we want ponies, we have pony tulpas, who are as show accurate as we want them to be (although I think it's best to let the tulpa decide on his/her form, mine is based on Twi, but only until she is fully formed and sentient, then she can change to whatever)

Yeah, that's true, but the corrupt have our world in a death grip already. They would try to spread Democracy to Equestria (even though the Diarchs in Equestria already give all of their citizens plenty of rights, more than an Earthly Democracy anyway). Not to mention that poachers would try hunting Unicorns for their magical horns (although I think the magic doesn't so much come from their horn, I think the Unicorns themselves are magical and use their horns to channel that power, but who knows with Equestrian logic)

 

Even if it just happened in the cartoon, I would be against it, because the show doesn't really need humans.

The problem of humans in Equestria has nothing to do with misanthropy.

It's just that the show doesn't need humans there for it to work.

 

They can put ANYTHING in the show, if they make it work in a convincing way. But if this happened, it would probably be like the immense majority of HiE fanfics that people hate with good reason: done to death, wish fulfillment, bland character designed to fit all sizes. Specially after what they did with Flash Sentry.

Humans would probably try to conquest and enslave equestria, stating that ponies shouldn't get the same rights as humans. Side note that's why I think if we ever found intelligent life that we had more technology than (we found them on their planet) we'd claim it as some type of manifest destiny.

One of this shows greatest strengths is in how they've humanized the ponies. Not in making them more human like in shape, but in making them PEOPLE. They have emotions, they have flaws, they have jobs, they have hobbies; they're believable as a sapient race.

 

In the past generations, the ponies were either there simply to sell the product or to act as narrative devices to teach lessons. (Clumsily at that.) They were distinctly supposed to be an "other" a magical race that needed no rhyme or reason. This was meant to contrast with the human cast members, such as Megan, who took on the leadership role because she had her own brain whereas the ponies had to pass around one in between each other.

 

Inserting humans into the mix of Equestria undermines the whole point of "ponies as people" and instead either makes humans out to be "the other" which introduces a whole new slew of problems, or the ponies previous symbolic power is now severely reduced.

 

(And no, I don't think because we'd destroy Equestria by drilling for magic oil or whatever the misanthropes are saying.)

One of the main reasons I started watch is because there are no humans. Humans make everything worse. Colorful ponies is where it's at, yo.

 

If they put humans in the show, there's a good chance I would stop watching.

The humans are not even close to extinction in my version. Earth is actually doing quite well. All the advanced technology, far from making things worse, has eliminated pollutants entirely and made jobs easier to obtain and perform. There is an issue in that the Red Magic Plague is beginning to spread, but that's part of the story's conflict, curing the plague!

 

Nor is it about "killing all ponies" and it being a good thing either! How can anyone call themselves a brony yet advocate the mass slaughter of Equestria's ponies, even those who have nothing to do with the conflict?

 

I've tried to adhere closely to canon in it's depiction and the ponies with the matching temperament. Flawed but well-meaning. The Conversion Bureau is an entirely optional, and forced ponifications are so rare they're more like spook stories than regular events.

 

There is good and evil from both worlds.

Well, the reason I like the kill all ponies fics is that the ponies in those fics are a race of zombies. They might as well be ants with only one thinking freely, said free one being an arrogant, genocidal, psychopath.

Well then it's not really a My Little Pony story is it? You COULD swap those ponies out with ants and the story wouldn't change. My version has the ponies decidedly as the ones from the show. Even the thought of genocide never enters their minds.

 

Plus, guest appearances by Lyra, Big Macintosh, Braeburn, Princess Celestia, and more. All lovingly mimicked from their canon and positive fanon portrayals.

I don't actually advocate the slaughter of Equestria's ponies, some Anti TCB stories I don't even like, such stories where Humans kill all Ponies. I have written parody stories with this summary 'Another Princess Celestia from another universe with a Human fetish saves Humanity from the evil Princess Celestia, that wants to turn all Humanity into pastel zombie horses.'

 

But I do like stories I Humanity beating the Ponies while at the same time proving them wrong that Humans aren't all evil, we don't kill all the Ponies.

 

In fact I hate most Anti TCB stories. Also, I'm one of the editors involved "The Other Side of the Spectrum", where canon Ponies come to help Humanity against the TCB Ponies, while at the same time there's even some TCB Ponies that have sided with Humanity.

I kind of am going for the same feeling, except the "always chaotic evil" Equestria doesn't exist in the first place. It's canon Equestria, and Earth in an idealized future.

 

I do have occasional dark elements, but compared to most TCB settings, I want mine to be so far on the idealistic side of the scale one needs tanning glasses to read it!

My response/question is the same I have for any other major change in the show.

 

Why?

 

What in the show needs improving that you need to bring in something this drastic? 

 

Now I'm not opposed to/skeptical of all changes.  I liked the change in Lesson Zero that allowed any of the characters to write a letter to Celestia.  Because of that, I think character development in Season 2 really flourished.  and as a non-pony example, I liked the shft in format of the Nostalgia Critic, incorporating more skits and elaborate storylines into his reviews. 

 

But only as long as you can explain to me why the change is necessary and how the work would be inferior/flawed in some way without it.  If, to me, the benefits outweigh the losses, then I'm all for it. 

 

However, as far as I can see, there is nothing that adding humans to Equestria "fixes".  There is nothing showing that, if they didn't do this, the show would falter in some way.  Anyone who proposes any kind of major change to the show- really think it through.  What is the flaw in the show that your change is fixing/improving upon?  I've never seen anyone who makes these suggestions really thining things through.
