Anything you wanted to know about drugs but were too afraid to ask

Recommended Posts

Hey y'all, just like the title says I will be taking your guys' questions about drugs. These questions could be anything, "what does this drug do?," "what about the laws about this drug?," "What are the consequences of this drug," etc. If you think of it I will answer it.

Now you may be asking, why should I ask this guy, what credentials does he have? Well although I'm not proud of it over the past 3 years I have cataloged in a list over 28 different drugs I have done (there may be more I missed). These drugs come from every different classification of drug you can think of, so if you ask about a drug either I've done it, done something similar, and/or been around the drug and people on it a lot. This begs the question, hey what drugs have you done, to that I will answer your question is you ask if I have done a certain drug, but I ask that the question has some weight to it other than just being, "Have you done x."

Now for the good news :) Before you start telling me I'm dumb, I should clean my life up, etc. I have been clean of hard drugs for about 7 months now and from marijuana for almost 4 months.

Is this a question you should be asking on a forum like this? You are talking about illegal activities after all!

He's not condoning or supporting their use. He's just providing insight on them from experience, to people who want to hear an unbiased opinion on the topic(or so that's how I see it). I don't think there's harm in that.

Maybe the “what does this drug feel like?” question is questionable, but on a whole I do think this is a good topic that people should be talking about and thinking about.

Knowledge on illegal drugs is probably a good thing, because illegal drugs are a choice at the end of the day, and having the facts gives someone a good reason to choose to do them or not,

As opposed to the bad reason like those who have no idea about drugs who go around saying “all drugs are bad” or something stupid and childish like that

Anyway rant over :)

That’s my opinion anyway

This topic appears to be of a controversial nature, and is likely to generate intense debate. Thus, it has been sentenced to the Debate Pit.

I would also like to add that this thread is going to be watched very closely.  My personal thoughts on the subject are that a frank, honest discussion about drugs can be helpful.  A lot of stupid things are done either out of ignorance or curiosity.  Strictly talking about drugs and what they do is OK.  But if anybody says they are going to try this or try that will, at the very least, bring this thread to a screeching halt.

I've done a bit of research into certain drugs too, but I suppose you can never truly understand the effects until you actually try them... The only drug I've ever tried was a hallucinogen and, well, I have no desire of taking it again.

I've wanted to know about the actual effects of drugs such as cocaine and ecstasy. Is it intense?

Sorry to be yet another asshole that is quoting you on this, but I think that this topic could potentially be a good thing, it could give a lot of people a good insight on why NOT to do drugs.

Permit me to put this here: A quote from Cinderscribe on a topic i made about new rules regarding drugs/alcohol

Hard drugs - No need for any discussions about this. It's so rare for them to ever be necessary to discuss that the tradeoff of banning discussion of them seems much more beneficial than harmful. Ban.

Alcohol - Not so sure. It's a part of life to a lot of people (myself included) and I really don't want to risk a ban for mentioning it in passing. Kid's grow up around the stuff anyway - acting like it doesn't exist isn't going to help them. I think the key part is to not glorify it - but enforcing rules on something like that is difficult. Meh.

a 13+ forum based off of a kids tv show is hardly the place to be discussing things like drugs...

I have a feeling you can't answer this question but it's one and my friends came up with a while back. If you took several drugs, like at least a dozen, but all at small enough doses so they added up to one doses worth, depending on the drugs would the combined effects of them and how they increase in potency when more than one is used, would it be lethal? This isn't exactly specific but still it makes you think.

Sorry for the hijack OP.  ;)

What was your experience with LSD? What was it like for your senses, especially visuals?

For me LSD is more about the feelings and expansion of consciousness rather than the visuals. I always feel very connected to my environment and very sensitive to even the smallest sounds. It be can be very disorientating as it heavily alters your perceptions. The most persistent visual I see is a 'breathing' effect on anything from walls, curtains, bushes, etc. Anything that isn't actually moving will appear to be waving slowly. See below for pic. Closing your eyes is a different story...

Okay...what kind of hallucinations does one get from LSD?

It doesn't so much make things that do not exist appear, but drastically warps what you do see. This picture is the more accurate depiction I could find. Two people using the same dosage from the same chemist may experience different visuals as no two people are exactly alike.

I've wanted to know about the actual effects of drugs such as cocaine and ecstasy. Is it intense?

On a smaller dose they aren't intense (but definitely pronounced); in my experience a dose 'medium' and up can be overwhelming, especially with ecstasy.

It all depends. Some drugs, like LSD and ecstasy, combine really well to make a fun trip. Some, like, alcohol and benzos, can kill you. Before trying ANY combination, look it up. There's a thorough chart Ill post when I get home.

Its not so much the amount that can kill you as the combination. You could do cocaine, heroin, pot, and drink some beer and be fine, but mix even a little bit of the wrong substances and you're as good as dead.

I've always wanted to know what effects you could get when you mix marijuana and cocaine together.

Well the combination depends on the amount of cocaine you mix in with the marijuana. Just a little bit and it adds a little pip in your step along with the high from the weed. A lot more and it's like doing a lot of cocaine, feeling you could do anything and totally wired, but with a little bit of the edge taken off by the marijuana. Don't do cocaine, don't just don't, you will eventually get addicted and if you do have money to buy cocaine it's really hard not to buy it again if you buy it once. You may find yourself waking up one day and find yourself with one line left, addicted, and broke.

What was your experience with LSD? What was it like for your senses, especially visuals?

I have only been able to find real acid once, and it was the first time I did any psychedelics. First of all it is definitely a commitment and before it's over most of the time you want it to be over because it lasts 12 hours. On the senses I didn't do very high of a dose and the visuals weren't too spectacular and in fact I ended up having a bad time because it got dark. Psychedelics are one of those kinds of drugs which I think are the most dangerous, not in terms of addiction, but just someone's overall mental health. Too many times kids try it willy nilly thinking it's going to be like the movies and what ends up happening is a total opposite dark experience and sometimes people can't handle it even after it is over.

Is this a question you should be asking on a forum like this? You are talking about illegal activities after all!

I think the main purpose I wanted to give in this thread is to be straight up with people who have questions and not have to go through things if you asked someone else (mostly that if you ask about drugs people sometimes assume you do them, even if you are just curious). If you think that I am glorifying drugs or telling people to do drugs you are sorely mistaken, if anything I want people to see my answers and understand how stupid I was and how dangerous they are. I don't think people should do any drugs after what I've been through and that includes marijuana. Marijuana is definitely a gateway drug and don't let people tell you it's not. Every single person, including myself started with it, and eventually we all moved on. It's like video games, would you play the Nintendo 64 the entire time or would you move on to the Xbox 360? I really hope people get their answers here for their questions, but I really don't want anyone to try what I've done or anything like it.

Agreed.  Even as is and without going into graphic detail about personal drug use this topic could be deemed over the line and locked at any moment.

Now lets just say...hypothetically...if I wanted to put my two cents in with an anecdote of past experiences I...hypothetically had. Would this be in any kind of violation of the rules?

I suppose talk about a prior hypothetical experience is OK as long as it doesn't lead to hypothetical current or future use.  ;)

Marijuana is definitely a gateway drug and don't let people tell you it's not.

The pro-legalization crowd says marijuana is a gateway drug to hard narcotics because the only way to get weed now in most places is on the black market.  Legalized outlets would, at least in theory, limit consumers' exposure to the bulk of the illegal drug industry.

There's something I've always wondered about marijuana.  I know it can be detected in the system days after it's smoked.  But how long does it impair one's ability to drive, operate machinery, and so on?  People who drink alcohol can find a general guideline for how long it takes the effect to wear off.  Does anything like that exist for marijuana?

I don't know what authorities are going to say to the family when the first person dies in an accident caused by somebody high on legal weed.  But then again I don't know what they said at the time of the first drunk driving accident when Prohibition ended either.  :/

On the first point I don't think legalization would really bar much of that. If anything I think that by legalizing marijuana harder drugs than marijuana but still soft will fill the gap of the go to illegal substance. I am not opposed to legalization fully, but I do have serious reservations about it. First of all medicinally I think it's great for specific ailments, I am not a supporter of marijuana used as medicine for mental illnesses because I know first hand and with others it may quell symptoms for the short term, but in the long term on exacerbates them. I think if it were to be legalize the main thing I'd have a problem with is it becoming socially acceptable to the point of underage drinking (not by 18-20 year olds, but >18 year olds) it would be commonplace for kids to think it's ok because it's legal at a young age. Marijuana may not have many bad side effects and has virtually no effect on adults, but studies have shown that smoking at a young age can seriously hinder the development of their minds. There are still pros to full legalization like better regulation on what is sold (rather than possible laced and tampered marijuana), taxation for revenue, as well as not treating marijuana addiction or offenses as crimes, but a social issue.

To the second point marijuana isn't actually as big of a threat for driving as people think. I'm not advocating driving while high, it's not smart and can lead to bad things. However, it is nowhere near impairing as alcohol and the NHSTA released its yearly review on driving safety and found that marijuana has little to no effect on driving compared to a sober person. Now that being said everyone is different and for some it may be not too bad, but for others terrible. The easiest solution is not to do it. Now this kind of blends the next point as the way to find if a person is legally impaired by marijuana can be difficult. For example, in Colorado being impaired while driving under the influence of marijuana is having 5ng/ml or higher THC in the bloodstream. Now that may simple like 0.08 is for drunk driving, but marijuana works differently. With marijuana tolerance plays a big role in impairment, a person who has never smoked or rarely does could be very high and impaired and only have a 2ng reading, while a consistent everyday smoker could not be high at all and still have above a 5ng reading. I think that in order to assess someone's impairment with marijuana will have to be more of a judgement call by trained officers in drug detection (which they already have, it's pretty cool, these officers go through training and are able not only to see if you are on drugs by looking at you, but also what drug you are on with incredible accuracy).

Well I can say this about my past experience with drugs. It's hell on your wallet.

K-2 and other synthetics marijuana is something I don't want to ever mess around with again. People have been reported to die smoking that stuff, and you don't know what kind of high you are going to get smoking different brands.

7-H for example gives a much more cleaner and crisper high. Brands like Venom or Walking Dead are completely different. It's sends your mind into a scary place and really warps your sense of perception. I don't know how to describe it in words, but my best attempt would be to liken it to sitting on a fence between Nirvana and the gates of Hell during a temporal vortex, not knowing which way you're going to fall. It was unpleasant.

It impairs you far more than marijuana does as well. Rode back seat with a guy driving a truck, high as a kite on venom. I'm never doing that again.

Then there's meth. That's a hard drug you don't want to do. When I first tried the stuff, my jaw took on a life of it's own and I couldn't stop it from moving to save my life. You can't just sit still an relax, you got to do stuff. To be honest, I've seen some productive tweakers, I mean really, no one can clean a house like a couple of tweakers can, no one.

But that's the problem. The high starts to wear down, and soon, instead of being productive you just get 'stuck' doing repetitive things that go nowhere. I was at the low end of my high and I was trying to make an sculpture out of playdo and my buddy had to come in and stop me because he was worried that I was going to work my fingers raw. I never finished it.

After the 'fun' part of the high is over you go through a burnt phase that lingers for a few days. After my first night on meth, after I finally went to sleep and woke up the next day, I was off. Real off. Stupid as hell.

When on meth, you have to watch out for over amping. You'll get dizzy and have to drink lots of water. There is also a problem with eating...you won't want to eat at all. Which can be dangerous after a long time. A lot of meth heads are skin and bones for a reason.

Meth tricks you into thinking that you aren't tired, when your body really is, and I know people who stay up for nights and nights in a row on the stuff. Other issues I had on meth, was freezing, even if it was 70 degrees outside. It really screws around with your temperature. I don't know if actually changes your body temperature for the higher or the lower, or if it just makes you think you are colder, but it's not a great ride.

The worst thing meth does to you though, is how it affects your mind. From what I've found, long term users are imbecilic, delusional, emotional, and sometimes absolutely bat shit crazy. It's a dangerous drug, associated often with dangerous people, and if the drug doesn't kill you in the end, the people that it involves you with will.

It's also really hard to stop once you're really hooked. It's not as addicting as Heroin (no experience with that) and I know users that may only do it once a month. But to really really stop...like forever. That's hard. Cause as soon as you see your buddies walk in the room with a pipe, you're going to want to join in the 'fun'.

But screw that. Your buddies on meth, are not your buddies. Walking into the meth world is walking into a shit load of drama, lies, and bullshit. You don't want any of that.

And if you start shooting up...you can forget about control. I never shot up, but an older lady user saw me once and took it upon herself to drill it in my head to never ever ever do it, or else I'd never stop using meth...after her warning we smoked a bowl and I went to work later next day worried that someone was going to be able to tell that I was tweaking.

I've been drug free for almost a year now. No meth, no pot, not k-2, no nothing. I'm not ever going back.

Meth makes you a different person, confuses what's real, damages your mind, damages your relationships with your family, damages your finances, and damages the soul. Everything in it is a poison. Everything.

I have never taken illegal drugs and I've never took anything I was prescribed for fun, but this is an issue very close to my heart and if I can convince one person out there not to get mixed in with this kind of stuff, I would feel a great sense of achievement.

At a young age I was prescribed Lorazepam, An anxiety medication and because I was so young I thought I was being a "good boy" by taking it twice a day.

First thing was not being able to talk, I'd crash into things a lot and fall over when I walked my dog, People would try and help me up but I'd start slurring and scare them off.

Next it was the hallucinations and because they seem so real it's also very scary, I'd see horses and pots and pans with wings, However it never really hit me how scary it was until I started hallucinating on bus and thought we kept crashing, I scared a lot of people and I still hallucinate to this day after not taking them for a long time, Sometimes it's scary white faces that hang around my bed, Sometimes I don't even know where I am or the room i'm sitting in.

Now if you take them long enough you'll get withdrawals, No, It's not as simple as feeling itchy when you stop taking it, I'm talking about spending time in hospital being hooked up to a machine that monitors your heart rhythm, You wont get much sleep either, they have to check on you every hour or so, Make you drink water, Check your pulse, that kinda thing.

So i'm asking you, Not because i'm an anti-drug lunatic but because I have experienced this first hand, Do not play around with Benzodiazepines, Even if you don't become psychically addicted, There's a chance you'll become mentally addicted because of the kind of escape they bring, Which leads to a psychical addiction, They are not a "fun" thing to have to take.

I agree with you completely, this was the purpose of my thread, to answer peoples questions so they wouldn't have to try it for themselves and to try to steer them from the mistakes I made.

You are right Benzos are nothing to mess with, they are fun and were definitely my "favorite" but also the worst you can do, there are so many risks involved with them. First, it's very easy to black out on them and do things that are harmful to yourself and others. Also a lot people don't know that drinking even a small amount increases your risk of death. If someone takes them and drinks even a bit, if you were to fell asleep you may not wake up as they are both respiratory depressants and very easily could stop you from breathing.

Psychologial addiction is a very good point to touch on, people always claim marijuana's not addictive, blah blah blah. But they mistake the fact that even though it's not physical addiction (you will have physical withdraw symptoms if you stop) you can easily become mentally addicted. I remember one night scrambling to find my pipe and my weed so I could get a hit in to calm myself down after going a while without getting high, I took the first hit and I felt all of the weight fall off my shoulders like I just escaped death, its not a way to live your life.

Very good point. It's not just drugs purchased illegally that can be harmful. Many people think prescription drugs are safe because, hey, if my doctor says it's OK it must be good for me! But the instant there are any bad side effects you need to call right away and find out if you can quit taking it without harm. It's a shame you believed benzo was doing you good when it clearly wasn't. And even if you thought those effects were acceptable those around you saw something was wrong and they should have figured out the cause. :/

Here's an objective resource for those keen to do their own homework regarding psychoactive substances of all kinds, not just the recreational ones.

Erowid

As an example (for LSD) - got everything from basic information to effects to people writing about their own personal experiences. Hundreds of hours of reading worth of material, a little something for everyone.

Ah, I am just posting here to tell people that I think this is a great topic :) There are plenty of people who just pretend drugs don't exist, and who simply don't want to talk about it. But knowledge is power, and you need this power never to do it :(

I have smoked weed for a few years. I didn't have many problems with it, and I could quit without any problems. However, one night when I smoked some pot, I suddenly got some heavy panic attacks.. And I still feel rather anxious pretty often. It turned me into a hypochondriac, and that isn't a fun psychological condition to have.

I also want to talk a bit about caffeine, because it is even more socially accepted then alcohol. In the netherlands (and many western countries) it is normal to drink coffee. As a matter of fact, it's almost socially necessary (almost). But as far as I know, most people don't know that it is a drug. Sure, it is one of the safest drugs you can use, it has certain health benifits and chances you die from it are VERY slim, but there are a couple of side effects caffeine has that people don't know about (Especially since a lot of children drink stuff like energy drinks and Cola, so don't know how it is to live without the side effects).

Caffeine is addictive. It's hard to stop taking it, because it can give you a terrible headache. You can't take painkillers to stop it, because pain killers generally contain caffeine. You will also get some heavy heart fluttering. The combonation with caffeine and Weed was propably the reason why I got these panic attacks, because caffeine and Weed can both give you panic attacks. Caffeine also impairs your bio-rythm and it can greatly disrupt your concentration. A lot of people who are heavy caffeine consumers find themselves working all the time, doing small, meaningless tasks, and then they complain they get nowhere with their work.

Well, not everyone reacts the same way on caffeine. Some people are really resistent to the negative effects, and if you don't have any of these problems, just continue drinking your coffee. But if you have some of these problems, and you don't know what is causing it, it might be caffeine.

Something (or someone) is TRULY discriminated against if we can't talk about it

without any fear of suffering prejudice yourself.
