I have functional ear muscles; I'm wiggling my ears as I type this lol.  When I hear a high-pitched noise, I have a tendency to prick up my ears.

I would actually love a tail for this very purpose. Something like a cat tail that i can vibrate when excited or twitch when irritated or swish when playful.

That reminded me of a joke comedian Jay Mohr did about Christopher Walken.  I think Walken supposedly asked Mohr which he'd rather have: the ability to fly or a tail.  And Walken really pushed having a tail lol.  Paraphrasing: "You could wag it when you are happy.  Flying?  You could always take an aeroplane..."  And so on xD.

Most other mammals have expressive ears that they can move to show emotion and pick up sound.  I've always wished humans had ears like that.  I mean, it would look really strange if people could suddenly move their ears, but I'm talking about what if humans evolved to have mobile ears like horses.  I love the idea of being able to flatten your ears when angry or upset, or prick them up when happy or excited.  I figure it would be voluntary.  Like, you wouldn't have to move your ears, so if you don't want others to be able to read your emotions you could remain immobile.  But I love the idea of that whole other dimension of expression.  Thoughts?

But what purpose would they serve? We can already talk, and those who can't use sign and written language to communicate, not to mention also communicate through body language. Expressive ears would just be overkill. I guess it would to move our ears around, but eh.

OMG, YES.    But... only if they were fur/hair covered, like cats or ponies.  Hairless would be a little... I dunno... creepy.  Like a rat tail.  Not really into that.  Kinda off putting for some reason.  But yeah, I agree, expressive ears and tails would be great.  More expressiveness would be awesome.  In other news, I can't believe this old thread came back!  Pretty funny.  I forgot I made it.
