Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!
alpinefroggy replied to Zach TheDane's topic in General Discussion
Laymen's understanding. X is sinful because of y. We must separate ourselves from x. Then a disconect that you must still treat people of x or partaking in x as humans and respect them but human nature sullies this and creates situations where because x is sinful we must therefore discriminate. But then then the christians are being sinful as well with a misunderstanding of the teachings. Human nature is atrocious sometimes- 3,311 replies

Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!
alpinefroggy replied to Zach TheDane's topic in General Discussion
Atheists are very cantankerous individuals sometimes. For a reason I have observed being that they feel lied to. If they deconverted they went from believing x to now believing x to be a lie or untrue or at least not proven. Not saying christianity is a lie or untrue. Especially if the religion was fundamentalist or cultist. One can feel lied to and be resentful of this religion they deconverted from. Regardless of whether they were justified, regardless of it was for good reasons and regardless of whether their decision is actually true. That's my observation as a nonbeliever- 3,311 replies

Having an existential battle over gender identities. I realized I didn't really identify as male. But not trans either. Very nonbinary. Feeling a bit screwed up but working through it. Cheers my friends.

The midnight snack gnomes woke me up and made me eat some chocolate chips out of this gigantic Costco bag. -

Is there anyone here who isn't into Pokemon or Anime?
alpinefroggy replied to CosmicHooves's topic in Media Discussion
I have no interest in anime but I do like Pokemon a great deal. I would play the new games on the 3ds but can't justify the money to pick up a 3ds just to play -
Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!
alpinefroggy replied to Zach TheDane's topic in General Discussion
And I am a very secular audience and you are right the faith idea doesnt hold a lot of water to me. Such personal experience is necessarily first person and regardless of their nature, can't possibly be justifiable for me.- 3,311 replies

Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!
alpinefroggy replied to Zach TheDane's topic in General Discussion
Be careful with that definition, taking the leap from things are probably true to therefore that thing is true in this context is dangerously close to a logical fallacy called an appeal to probability. Just because you have demonstrated something to be remotely possible has nothing to do whether it is actually true. It is the nature of the logical fallacy that it does not necessarily follow that because something is likely to be true that it therefore is. It is likely that tomorrow will be sunny, therefore tommorow will be sunny. Not false but also not true, more is needed. Personally I see faith from the secular definition more often then I do from something a bit more hand wavy. In a religious sense you could cite Hebrews 11:1. Though I find that definition a bit wooey. I also have though about as the position confidence or belief in [insert god, event, holy book here] as the sense of confidence that one gets that x exists or is true in a vacuum. It is a position that is held at its base without outside support but that does not necessarily mean such support does not exist or is just currently unknown.- 3,311 replies

I got the same score. I find them novelties but accurate representations of intelligence can vary so wildly. I mean I can learn a lot of stuff fairly quickly, but I don't consider myself to have a high ability of abstraction and "outside the box" thinking. What does that make me?

How did people react to you being a brony or pegasister?
alpinefroggy replied to Altastrofae's topic in Sugarcube Corner
Didn't care or asked a few questions and expressed that it wasn't for them and moved on. Very few people find it super intriguing. My dad who bugs me about it and had fun with me when I went to babscon. He even knows a few of the mane six And then a guy at my college who knows very little about ponies and kinda is just odder out by the whole thing but ultimatly doesn't care. -

Not a Christian but... Perhaps you can hide the candy and still try to pull the same trick. Personally I think this is a very clever and hilarious way to get them to realize the lesson.- 3,311 replies
