  1. That’s probably it. It just threw me off as I thought she lived in Cloudsdale, but close enough to be minutes away from Ponyville.
  2. I enjoyed the episode, though as others have said, Shining Armor and Cadance should have least been mentioned before. Even knowing that Twilight was right, I didn’t really feel all that bad for her. She handled it complicated wrong, did it at the wrong time, and was smiling the entire time. That Shining Armor was getting headaches was even “overheard” by her. She may have known that magic doesn’t work like that, but she was also just looking for issues. The ending... It makes sense, but it also feels like they wrote themselves in a corner. Maybe this episode should have been a three parter. Poor Luna. Someone needs to plan for a night wedding so she can attend. Maybe it was back in the day, and only that one area disappeared for a thousand years. The rest of it was conquered/settled by others. The “empire” bit now might just be politeness to the ponies that lived there.
  3. Er, my headcanon is that this entire episode was Pinkie’s dream. That explains everything. Really, I know it’s supposed to be a fun episode, but the behavior of the eaters is just horrible. I feel bad for the Cakes. I did like... “Stop, thief! *Bang!* Are you alright, thief?”
  4. I didn’t really like that Twilight was the only one who didn’t like the column from the start. It makes the “ponies getting mad the CMC” scene all wrong. Twilight and Rarity (since it seems her diary was posted) were the only ones who had a reason to be angry. Rainbow fidgeting for the pedicure before giving up was cute. Still, the episode was enjoyable to watch. I’d give it an “Okay.”
  5. I enjoyed this episode. The wing power numbers seemed strange. It seems like each pegasus should average one. Fluttershy is a great flyer when she needs to be. I liked the montage with an improvement that...probably really wasn’t much of an improvement. She clearly wasn’t at her best in that first test. It’s pretty realistic though. As for Spitfire. I do believe she should have joined in. The task seemed to be more important than Ponyville pride. Also, I thought Rainbow Dash lived in Cloudsdale. Should she be part of this contest? It seems like Cloudsdale would have its own event. Maybe since the water is going to Cloudsdale, the pegasi each pick what city or town below they want to represent.
  6. I didn’t like that either. I think (hope) Spike just joined the wrong crowd though. Better dragons would avoid those creeps. Not that Spike should have risked it, but would smashing a phoenix egg kill it? It seems like the baby and egg would just reform. I don’t like Spike taking the egg home. He just kidnapped someone’s baby. I know posts above have given reason for his actions, but I have not seen a reason that works for me.
  7. I wonder if Twilight really can read two books at once, or was she just being desperate. When future Twilight first showed up, I first thought something happened to her purple fur, like it burned or something. It took a second to realize it was just an outfit. Pinkie Pie makes this episode. That is one prepared pony. To quote SF Debris, “I’ve been wondering if she did this before or after Twilight announced the pending disaster. If her response was to prepare for any ball or eyepatch emergency, or if she thought such an emergency might crop up and better be prepared. Either way, you got to admire the girl’s foresight. No eyepatch pun intended.” Pinkie Pie looks strange in her ninja costume with her mane hidden. It just looks wrong. I didn’t mind the scene being repeated because we see it differently now. Of course, that only works with the first time you have seen the episode.
  8. It’s probably wrong, but I enjoy Fluttershy when she’s mean. It’s just so not Fluttershy, and she’s funny. She doesn’t really have a good reason here, despite what Rarity and Pinkie believe. I didn’t like them continually calling Iron Will a monster, but I suppose that’s easier than facing the truth. Fluttershy’s insults were 100% her fault. Angel was horrible. I suppose it was as over the top to make a point. Otherwise, that’s horrible behavior that Fluttershy has had to deal with for years. I liked Iron Will. He did have a point in that Fluttershy seemed to benefit from his services. Does it really count though when he picked her out of a crowd and used her as advertisement? I mean, even if she had been 100% satisfied?
  9. I had the same thought. It’s the only Star Trek I won’t rewatch because it was just episode after episode, year after year, of being disappointed.
  10. As annoying as Pinkie Pie was to Cranky, I still enjoyed this episode. His initial backhanded compliment, “You’re smarter than you look,” doesn’t do him any favors. I enjoyed the toupee scene because Pinkie herself told the others it wasn’t funny. She was just trying to help. That second toupee was awful though. Pinkie does need to learn to take no for an answer though. Poor Cranky. It seems like he wasted much of his life. Matilda appeared to have had least lived happily until their reunion. I get the impression that he just became more and more bitter.
  11. Love Potions are just creepy, so I am glad they went with that, but in a humorous way. I enjoyed this episode. I also sort of like Big Mac and Cheerilee getting together after without any influence.
  12. I enjoyed this episode, but the end was a bit over the top for me. Rainbow Dash could have easily just said, “I left something in the room. I want to get it.” She wouldn’t even have to say what it was. Surely the hospital would let her retrieve her own stuff.
  13. I didn’t really like the episode for this reason. The Apples were just arrogant and foolish. The episode seemed to be anti-technology, but if they wanted a “love and care makes good food” message, then the cider (before the quality meter was changed) should have been worse. Otherwise... Flim Flam Brothers: Then we’ll be competition. Applejack: Go ahead. FFB: We need your apples. Apples: LOL FFB: Then we’ll go get other apples. Apples: LOL FFB: 50/50? AJ: No. 75/25, like you said, but WE get the 75. FFB: 60/40? AJ: 75/25. FFB: 70/30? AJ: 80/20. FFB: ! AJ: FFB: 75/25? AJ: Deal!
  14. I’m a bit of a swearer, but I keep most of it that myself. My husband hears a lot because he doesn’t care. I don’t feel the need to censor around him. My sister makes a big deal about it. She doesn’t get mad, but she’s so highly amused by even small cuss words. “My little sister is cussing?!” Now picture that in an overexcited Pinkie Pie voice. It’s annoyingly. I avoid it with children or the parents at school, but it slipped out in front of another parent once. I apologized and moved on. He didn’t seem to care. My son and father heard it the worse from me on a predicted six hour hike that turned into an eleven hour hike. I muttered to myself many times. It helped with the pain. My son was amused by it. My father was practically bragging about it later.
  15. In her defense, she seems to suck at her job. Awww. That’s cute. ——— The end was predictable, though Applejack did better than I expected based on her behavior. Er, Applejack, the first meal you have in the day is breakfast. The meaning (break fast) is in the word for Celestia’s sake! I want to see a pony toilet. That outhouse didn’t look quite big enough to er, really “go” comfortably. Horses pulling horses will never not be strange to see. Was Applejack whipping them? I know she really wasn’t, but that’s the feel I got from that scene. Love the train having just that one little section blocked. Lastly, the Derpy scene. They dubbed out her name, but it lives on in closed captioning. I actually thought her name was still there until I saw the complaints here. I probably just read her name and thought Rainbow said it. I watched the original scene on YouTube. I find myself liking the new voice better. Since I saw that first, Derpy suddenly sounding masculine was just wrong. The voice itself sounded more...stupid? Like the voice actor was playing what he thought a low IQ character should sound like. I like innocent, charming voice better.
  16. I like that the other ponies didn’t try to come up with some lie about why they couldn’t babysit. They basically just had other plans/didn’t want to. Why didn’t the Cakes ask Pinkie to help them deliver cakes so one of them could stay home. They obviously didn’t trust her with the kids, and I don’t blame them. Pinkie is unpredictable. Pinkie “learned” about being responsible, but like others say, those kids were too overpowered, or rather, too much control over there abilities. Pound Cake (if they wanted her to fly), should have been crashing into everything. If they don’t want to show a crashing maybe, just have him fly randomly around the house. Pumpkin Cake should have just been doing random stuff, and perhaps accidentally scaring herself and Pound. Also, that house was not foal proof. The twins cheering up Pinkie was cute. Children, especially including young children, can be surprisingly sweet when you are upset. I wonder how fast ponies age though, since they’re first word was at a month old. What if Granny Smith is just 30 years old?
  17. Granny Smith and Apple Bloom look adorable in those bunny costumes. Given how particular the zap apples are, I would suspect there is more to discover. Am I The only one who thought Granny was saying zab apples? I liked Granny’s story, but there were too many antics to get there.
  18. A good way to show history without alienating the audience. It was fun when we saw what was on the set versus what we were seeing. I do feel like the mane six are just bad actors since the personalities were too similar. I wonder if the writers thought they were avoiding confusion. The only other issue is that the pony Twilight was playing seemed to just randomly pull the explanation. The scene would have been just fine without her explanation. Maybe that was added to explain to the pony kids watching the play. Otherwise, it could have been explained at the end of the play.
  19. That’s interesting. I am not current, but I’ll get there.
  20. @AlexanderThrond I think you said just about everything I wanted to say about this episode. The dragon aging thing is very strange. Spike is a “baby,” but he clearly isn’t one mentally. The Rarity/Spike thing still doesn’t work for me though because she is grown, and he looks like a child. In addition to that, I hope we see the Wonderbolts in action (outside of shows) without completely failing at it. Spike trapped them way too easily.
  21. That’s right. Girls should play with things for boys. ——— Alright, as for my actual answer. It depends on how gender neutral you mean. Genders do exist after all. It’s not neat little categories, but various scales and graphs. Personally, I think it’s best to raise a child as best you can with how you think they’ll be until they indicate otherwise. You can certainly expose them to all toys and such as they grow up.
  22. I liked this episode. I was internally cringing as the episode went on, waiting for the big humiliation to fall. It’s great that she learned her lesson without it. Twilight loved the dress, and that really was more Twilighty than the original design. Fancy Pants seems like he’s setting up Twilight to laugh at her, but he liked the dress too! It looks like the snobs Rarity first met might have also learned a thing or two.
  23. This would make a lot of sense, and we have seen Twilight can get crazy enough to do this. LOL. Pretty much. I’m curious to see this fan fiction now. I’ll check it out. Rainbow is my favorite pony, but she’s arrogant enough for this lesson. The episode took it too far, such as patting herself on the back or delaying to save people. It’s like Rarity’s over the top vanity when she had wings or Pinkie and Twilight going crazy. A Flanderized character is bad for the episode. It’s worse with Rainbow because she’s arrogant enough already that it wasn’t even necessary.
  24. It depends on what you are looking for in a pet. Wanting one that flies makes perfect sense for a flyer. I wish she had taken the falcon. Tank winning was just too predictable. Besides, he seems to knock himself around a lot in future episodes, and that’s just no fun to watch. I know Rainbow crashes a lot, but it seems wrong with the tortoise. Twilight making a comment on Rainbow not knowing what pets are for is pretty funny since she got hers as an extra helper.
