  1. Last weekend, I drove about four hours to go scuba diving on the shipwrecks in the St. Lawrence river.
  2. The early press releases made a point of G5 being in the same universe as G4. They can't not be expecting fans to be wondering what happened to all the other creatures. Though if this is all about introducing a new generation to My Little Pony, it makes perfect sense start out focusing more or less exclusively on the ponies, and then gradually reintroduce the other species. Personally, I'd be interested in seeing more done with the Kirin.
  3. Even if the stunt flying was always a part of what they did, it's possible that in olden times they had more responsibilities beyond that. If it were Scootaloo wearing whatever it is, then Rainbow Dash might have something to say about that (though she could just combine a modified version of Wind Sock's glider with the thrust from her own wings, so it wouldn't be just the machine doing the flying).
  4. Why is that so implausible? The whole reason we have airplanes is because some guy saw a bird flying and thought "It'd be cool if I could do that".
  5. The way Scootaloo was mentioned in that comic made it feel like the writers were practically screaming "We would LOVE to have Scootaloo fly with that thing, but our hands are tied!" (the comic still being bound to the show's status quo at the time). For most of the series, it was left ambiguous as to whether there was any hope of Scootaloo one day flying all normal-like. If she was undergoing training/physical therapy to that end, then there might not have been any compelling need to fit her for assistive tech of any sort. She might even have been under doctor's orders to abstain from that, lest she develop bad habits that would interfere with her progress towards flying naturally. Though that would account for why, in "Growing Up is Hard to Do" (which, in a crazy coincidence, aired about a month after issue 81 of the comic was published), she didn't notice that her wings didn't grow with the rest of her - she knew that if there ended up being no chance of flying normally, she has options. Out-of-universe, it feels very much like the writers were trying to have it both ways - that is, satisfy both the fans who were holding her up as an example of disability representation and the fans who were hopeful to see her eventually fly. It was stated that the rigid wings on Wind Sock's glider weren't affected by the chaotic air currents like pegasus wings were (possibly taking a few creative liberties with physics, but no worse than what we've seen in the show). As for him being unable to do the kinds of stunt flying we've seen from the Wonderbolts, that was implied to have happened several decades ago - it's possible that they had more practical responsibilities back then, as opposed to the glorified entertainers depicted in modern Equestria. And speaking of modern Equestria: take whatever voodoo powers Tank's propeller, stick it in a ducted fan, and you have a jetpack. It's quite plausible that a skilled engineer (possibly even Scootaloo, what with her own mechanical skills) could develop that into something that would meet modern Wonderbolt standards.
  6. For that matter, that's probably the thing most likely to prompt him to think about divorce, what with Spoiled Rich actively trying to raise Diamond Tiara to be an entitled rich *yay* like herself.
  7. Well, Rainbow Dash was well into adulthood at the time. But you're right to the extent that blowing her stack was not the proper way to handle the situation. The problem is that the episode clearly wants us to believe that her parents did absolutely nothing wrong, as if having good intentions is a free pass to do whatever you want regardless of its actual effect on whomever you're trying to help. The episode would have been much, MUCH better if her parents had acknowledged that they went too far while at the same time having Rainbow apologized for her reaction. Which is how things were handled in "The Parent Map", suggesting that the writers learned their lesson from what happened in this episode.
  8. I've heard it said that the COVID-19 pandemic screwed with the comic industry in general. IDW might not have the resources to maintain G4 and G5 comic series at the same time, even if they could theoretically enjoy respectable sales for both of them. We'll see what happens as things return to normal. One way or another, with the fandom being what it is, one would think it would make no sense to simply toss G4 aside like last year's iPhone.
  9. By today's MPAA standards, "violence" could mean "violence on the level of the Mane Six going up against Chrysalis and Tirek", and "rude language" could mean anything remotely insulting from one character to another (like how one Canadian network censored the word "fools" from "The Cutie Map"). The last G-rated movie I remember that wasn't aimed exclusively at preschoolers was the 2015 Peanuts movie.
  10. Best I can think of is that Novo ultimately came to realize that: a. Twilight trying to swipe the pearl was purely an act of desperation brought on by thinking that she had no other options for defeating the Storm King, not anything remotely malicious. b. Refusing to help Twilight take down the Storm King was NOT the right call. I've heard it said that in the movie, there were subtle hints that many of her subjects were not okay with potentially spending the rest of their lives hiding under the sea.
  11. The sequel starts out by using Quibble Pants to flat-out state that it's not intended to fit within established canon.
  12. So the new pony that recently made the rounds IS a queen. People in other threads have speculated that she may be some sort of antagonist (most likely in the context of working to preserve the status quo because it's the only system she knows), but none of them feel like the sort you'd suspect of being a major villain.
  13. I could have sworn I heard that the writers originally wanted to have Tank actually die and do a straight story about the grieving process, but Hasbro wouldn't allow it.
  14. Maybe not a villain per se, but potentially an antagonist: If she is a ruler, there's a good chance we're looking at the classic "authority figure convinced the status quo is justified versus offspring who recognizes the obvious need for reform" scenario.
  15. The thing is, the world of G5 has apparently been regressed to an even worse state than before the Mane Six showed up. It might not have been anywhere near a utopia, but at least the pony tribes generally got along okay. And then there's the question of how long things have been this bad.
  16. Well, they did say this: Which sounds like they just might be planning more side comics along the lines of "Friends Forever" or "Nightmare Knights", or more crossovers. That and/or leaving their options open for resuming the main series in the future if things go well for them (or if something goes wrong with G5 ).
  17. "A Horse-Shoe-In" had Trixie teleport a patch of swampland from what had to be at least several miles away. Rarity could be doing something similar with her couch.
  18. Twilight's scientific mind seems like it would be quite helpful for helping Equestria move forward.
  19. There's also Rainbow Roadtrip, as well as the IDW comics. Edit: You might also think about checking out some of the better fan works, such as "Totally Legit Recap". I've also been following the comic "A Storm's Lullaby" on Deviantart.
  20. 1. Determine if I still have my human body or that of a native species 2. Find civilization 3. Seek out a pony who could help investigate how I got pulled into Equestria and if going home is an option 4. Explore the area, meet some ponies, get a sugar rush at Sugarcube Corner, that sort of thing 5. If it turns out I can't/decide not to return home, find myself a nice engineering position (I have also thought about getting into prosthetics at one point - perhaps Scootaloo and Kerfuffle might be interested in my skills).
  21. Yeah, studying magic seems like it would be stimulating enough to distract from the lack of internet in Equestria. Unless of course "alicorn" is an option - being able to fly is nothing to sneeze at.
  22. Not necessarily - one way or another, one would expect there to be some form of law enforcement somewhere.
  23. If we're going beyond ponies, I would imagine Gabby might like a belly rub. Probably none of the other griffons we've seen on camera, though.
  24. Yeah, there's no way Hasbro would greenlight anything that would be so awkward in light of current events. It seems more likely that he'll end up being someone who at least wants to be a good cop, but is stuck working within a badly dysfunctional system.
