  1. It's possible that they might be mentioned in some historical records of their sisters, but unless they did something great that we didn't get to see, they would probably not have become historic figures in their own right. Though for what it's worth: An early draft of the G5 movie starred a pegasus with a half-functional left wing. That got me thinking that if G5 were to give us another handicapped pegasus, it'd be cool to have them using some piece of technology to help them fly, with some reference to Scootaloo having been involved in its initial development.
  2. I've seen isolated cases of people displaying unhealthy attitudes, but it was always followed by others telling them to knock it off. Everything points to the fan community doing a much better job of discouraging toxic behavior than they're often given credit for.
  3. I kind of doubt Hasbro cares all that much about which generation IDW wants to focus on - if they wanted to sweep G4 under the rug to make way for G5 (as some have speculated), we probably wouldn't even be getting Generations. It's somewhat more likely that with things as they are, IDW just doesn't have the resources to maintain regular G4 and G5 comics simultaneously, even if there'd be ample demand. We'll see what happens when they've recovered from the pandemic.
  4. I don't suppose there was any mention of potentially picking it back up once things recover? The end of the last issue seemed to pretty strongly imply they wanted to at least keep their options open.
  5. Also, Applejack and Rainbow Dash arguing over who was more committed to putting a stop to their arguing got REAL annoying REAL fast.
  6. If the non-pony species never lost their magic, then the ponies regaining theirs could just as easily end up being the only thing that lets them defend themselves from the next Big Bad to show up. Plus you have to weigh all that against their quality of life. The earth ponies were living in constant fear, buying useless Canterlogic products to fend off a nonexistent threat (and if Sprout hadn't gotten it in his head to launch a pre-emptive strike against the other tribes, chances are somepony else eventually would have). The unicorns were still in a funk over losing their magic, their society having mostly stagnated. The pegasi appeared to be doing a bit better, but they were still shaken up when it was revealed that the royal family couldn't actually fly.
  7. Sunny's father had collected actual artifacts from the G4 era, so the actual events of G4 are, as was emphasized in the early press releases, in their distant past.
  8. I don't exactly have a favorite as such, but Izzy is the pony for which I'm most looking forward to seeing where the writers go with her. Sprout as well - will he find some way to win the others' respect, or be stuck in a rut of "cronic screwup butt-monkey"? Either path could provide hours of entertainment.
  9. Hello Scootaloo, Remember that time you heard the story of an earth pony who invented a set of strap-on wings and got into the Wonderbolts? And you helped build a replica of his invention which let Rumble fly in an air parade despite a sprained wing? Think you might make one for yourself? Also, would you actually be interested in trying out for the Wonderbolts if you could find some solution to fly on that level?
  10. 1. No more brazen character assassination ("Spike at your Service". "Non-Compete Clause", "2, 4, 6, Great", and the like). 2. Newbie Dash: Keep the message about learning to be a team player, ditch the hazing (as the scenes where Rainbow Dash awkwardly impersonates her friends). 3. Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep: Rewrite it so that Luna's dealing with her past as Nightmare Moon doesn't amount to self-harm. 4. No beating around the bush with Scootaloo's wings. Want to do the "disability representation" thing? Get her a proper in-universe diagnosis and let her partake of one of the multiple examples of aeronautical engineering displayed across the series.
  11. Let's see now: Spike at Your Service: Spike being rendered grossly incompetent for no other reason than the plot demands it? That was downright cringe-worthy. Newbie Dash: Rainbow Dash imitating her friends in some half-assed attempt to stand out was even more cringe-worthy. Delivering an otherwise legitimate message of being a team player by way of condoning hazing and brushing aside Rainbow's traumatic flashbacks didn't help matters either. What About Discord?: Discord's humor was based entirely around jokes that the audience couldn't get. How the writers thought that would be entertaining is beyond me. Non-Compete Clause: So Applejack and Rainbow Dash can't be bothered to set their competitive streak aside, even when the safety of their students is at stake? Horse apples. Plus them arguing over who was more committed to putting a stop to their arguing was downright painful to watch. 2, 4, 6, Great!: Rainbow Dash being disappointed about being assigned to the cheer squad when she'd likely be more interested in actual athletics was understandable. Her openly disparaging the very concept of cheerleading to said squad, including students who have her as a teacher, and showing zero empathy until being explicitly called out on her behavior? That was unforgivable.
  12. It'd be hilarious if it turned out the other species were still maintaining healthy relations with each other, but backed off from the ponies after the tribes broke up.
  13. Then again, there was a statement from one of the staff to the tune of "If you see something that looks unusually advanced, assume it's powered by magic". If they'd been relying on magic to run their machines, they would have had to invent a lot of stuff from scratch when the all the magic went AWOL.
  14. There is the Cloudsdale flight camp. Plus Ponyville has enough pegasi that they might possibly have something available locally. As for Scootaloo, if it were simply a matter of her having somepony to teach her to fly, one would think Rainbow Dash would be taking care of that (some fans have speculated that that's what attracted Scootaloo to Rainbow Dash in the first place).
  15. Plus the fact that when Sprout took over as sheriff, he immediately got to work on launching a pre-emptive strike against the other tribes. Even if he hadn't, some other pony would eventually have gotten a similar idea. Also, the pegasi were only okay with being unable to fly because they thought the royal family could still fly, and therefore defend them from an earth pony or unicorn invasion (somehow) - if magic hadn't been restored shortly after their lie was exposed (which could easily have happened without outside help, if their rigging were to malfunction), who knows what would have happened over there.
  16. At least that could be explained by the forest relying on magic of its own to grow.
  17. I'd introduce them to the comedic stylings of MST3K with the episode "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians".
  18. I've always thought it would be cool for Scootaloo to take her mechanical skills and get into prosthetics - start with getting herself a new pair of wings (like what we saw on an alternate Rainbow Dash in "A Cutie Re-Mark"), then move on to helping other creatures. Maybe even give Kerfuffle a tune-up one day.
  19. I had always assumed that it was the other way around - that the brony community became what it is because the show was, at the time, one of few shows aimed at girls that was of sufficient quality to achieve meaningful all-ages and gender-neutral appeal.
  20. Ummm... not quite. It's based on a highly specious interpretation of an obscure Old Testament passage, one not shared by any other branch of Christianity. Either way, you're talking about human sacrifice - by any level-headed standard, a perfectly valid reason to file a religion under "wacko cult". What about the stuff Jesus spelled out in most of the New Testament? "Love thy neighbor" and all that. And playing the "If you do the crime, you do the time" card when the so-called "crime" essentially amounts to no more than a difference of opinion is, by the standards of basically anyone other than religious fanatics, utterly unconscionable - especially when directed towards a family member.
  21. I had a Diamond Rio, one of the first commercially available MP3 players (and most likely the first one to achieve widespread commercial success). To get an idea for how old we're talking about: it connected to the PC through a parallel port (what printers plugged into before USB was invented). I also had a first-gen iPod, from back when you had to use unofficial software to connect them to Windows PCs.
  22. Before the pandemic, I'd generally fly about once or twice a year for vacations or trade shows. I've even looked into building my own plane eventually: http://www.eaa.org
  23. Same here. I don't care what anyone else eats or don't eat, so long as they remember that if you want other people to respect your beliefs, you have to respect theirs.
  24. Deep-fried spaghetti and meatballs on a stick, at the local county fair.
