  1. Thanks for the fast reply, as well as the kind words. You're correct, that was our song on Cheezburger and EQD. We're hoping to put our stuff on Pony.fm. If the new account issue won't be an easy fix, I'll probably just use this account; it's been working reasonably well since 2012.
  2. My band needs a new account so we can use other areas of Poniverse, so I tried to create an account specifically for it. Unfortunately, the account activation email does not seem to be getting sent. I've tried hitting "resend activation email", but it still isn't working. Nothing has arrived in my inbox, spam folder or anywhere else. The new account in question in DraconequusBand. Thanks for your help!
  3. Today our hard rock/metal band Draconequus released its second music video: a cover of Rainbow Rocks' "Let's Have a Battle". As some of you may recall, the band got started right here on MLPforums earlier this year, and it's been off to a great start. It's available here for free download. Also, if you missed our first video, it was featured on Equestria Daily's Spotlight Music last month. Download the audio of it here.
  4. Right now I'm pretty busy with Turnabout Trio and working on the Draconequus album, but I'll throw my name into the hat for future projects. I filled out the form linked on the first page of this thread.
  5. This is the funniest thing I've seen all day. And yeah, unless you live some place like Pakistan, you can write anything about anyone, as long as it's listed as fiction.
  6. C'mon, brah...how is anyone supposed to hire you if you don't provide links to your previous work? You didn't even say if you're male or female.
  7. It's an interesting question. On a more morbid note, I kind of think the Mane 6 would die as follows: Rainbow Dash at 38, during a training accident where she was training new Wonderbolt recruits. Pinkie Pie at 45 from Type II Diabetes (duh). Rarity at 56 from a stroke brought on by decades of stressing over everything and not taking care of herself. Flutershy at 61 from a heart attack caused by a mouse jumping on her chest. Twilight Sparkle at 77 gets assassinated by her apprentice. Applejack at 89 dies peacefully in her sleep.
  8. *shrugs* My employer paid for my undergraduate degree, and they're paying for my masters as well. There are plenty of ways to get a good education without going into tremendous debt or having to retake classes they took in high school.
  9. Pretty good start. Some things to consider... People are often hesitant to download files, even if they're just audio clips. You could help put them at ease (and make your work more accessible) by setting up a SoundCloud or YouTube account so that you can embed your work directly into a thread without requiring people to download anything. Consider delivering 20-30 seconds of each voice/role. Any less than that, and it's hard to get a feel for what you're actually doing with the performance. Any more than that is usually not necessary, and just takes up peoples' time. Instead of waiting for people to come to you, you'll get more work (and faster) by actively seeking out casting calls, creating auditions specifically for those roles, and staying engaged with the casting director and other potential cast members. Best of luck with everything!
  10. It's kind of funny/disappointing that any producer/director would forward unrelated emails to their cast members. Are they 9 years old or something? It's also easy for actors to take the good directors for granted. At least until they've had the misfortune of working with a bad director. Last year I (and at least one other actor) prepared an audition for a director who failed to specify that the role was actually supposed to be female. Not surprisingly, that project eventually died due to a lack of direction, communication and leadership.
  11. This weekend I will be in the studio finishing up a scene for an upcoming project. While I'm at it, I'll try to put together auditions for maybe a friend if he's free.
  12. When I was 15 or 16, I was being pressured to go down a certain path when it came to developing job skills. I was pretty good at it, but wasn't sure it was for me. My dad put it into perspective quite perfectly by saying "It's not their life; it's yours. Star in it."
  13. Today is Day 1 of what will probably be my most rigidly structured (and complicated) production to date. It might suck, and it might be awesome. Or both. Either way, it's the first time this year that I've been so excited to get started on a new project. Right now the overall idea is to do a cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Only" (With Teeth, 2005), and have the music video done and posted by the end of July. The music will be recreated from scratch in my studio. I'll stay close to Reznor's classic industrial vibe, but with a bit more of the crunchy guitar work that characterizes my own songs. Thematically, it's going to explore two main themes: the Changeling queen's obsessive hive-mind bent, and some of its eerie parallels with locusts and even humans. The video is going to be almost entirely live action. The visual themes will aim for the beautifully grotesque (think: Marilyn Manson): icky changeling "births", lots of plant/insect/society time lapse shots and some other fun stuff. Still, it will be entirely "Safe for Work", or at least as much as a mainstream music video, anyways. I look forward to making more progress in the days and weeks to come, and I'll keep you guys posted.
  14. Yes, but not yet. There are a few more years of work to be done, and I intend to see it through. Finally, when it's done I intend to take one bully long rest.
  15. Is this a trick question? Uh...both. I've offered and accepted hundreds of drinks. I'm not sure how or why it would seem odd. It's like offering or accepting a donut. Both can be bad for your health if consumed in large quantities, but enjoying one or two is harmless.
  16. It's as easy or hard as you want it to be. You have as much or as little free time as your chosen major will determine. Depends on your major. Bottom line: If you want to be a goddamn chemical engineer astronaut, you will spend the next 4 or 5 years sucking on the ragged vocal chords of a miserable, painful, competitive field that *might* grant you the skills to be a genuine hero and/or millionaire. Alternately, you could be an English major and (unless you're in the 0.02% who become successful novelists) you can work retail or as a high school teacher for the next 20 years trying to pay back your tuition loans. That's just my opinion, though. I'm the asshole who got a degree in one field, then landed a job in a totally different field, and skipped around, getting a six figure job while avoiding any student debt whatsoever. It can be done if you're smart and aggressive; it doesn't require you to compromise your principles, either. Just keep your eyes peeled.
  17. I've always had a soft spot for Baraka x Mileena. He's the battle hardened Tarkatan general whose efforts are taken for granted. She's the diabolical, sociopath spawn of a homunculi experiment gone wrong. It's meant to be. plot spoilers: truly grotesque fan art depicting this outcome: ^^ just kidding; it's adorable
  18. My job requires me to travel a lot, so I've slept in a lot if unusual places. Sometimes alone, sometimes with friends. Sometimes in a comfy hotel bed, sometimes in a dusty bed of a pickup truck or the metal floor of a cargo aircraft. About half the time I sleep at home beside my very special somepony.
  19. James Iha doesn't play the electric violin (that I know of), but he used an e-bow for a lot of the Smashing Pumpkins mid-career albums like Adore and Machina:
  20. As a movie, it's not bad. Ellen Paige is great, and I love her to this day. Diablo Cody is "meh"...I don't know much about her, and I haven't seen any of her other films.
  21. Hang in there. We're all pulling for you!
  22. I'll stick to the Mane 6, to make it more challenging. Kill: Pinkie. Pink loud is annoying, and I wouldn't miss her. Fuck: Rarity. She's probably a screamer, but I wouldn't want to put up with her drama on a regular basis. Marry: Twi.
  23. @@TheMarkz0ne, because although he's utterly full of crap a lot of times, at least his tinfoil rants get me thinking seriously about a wide variety of topics.
  24. Sure, chalk me up. My educational background is in computer science, law and psychology. However, philosophy is something that I've always given special consideration, since it shapes our world as least as much as the other areas I've studied.
  25. Not gonna bite. You and I have gone around this block before, and I find your ideas unworthy of further consideration.
