Will the show REALLY be able to last the next 5 years?

  1. 1. Is five years too much time, not enough time, or enough for the show?

This is in terms of the show's quality, not if the show will survive or be canceled, since its continued success on that part is almost guaranteed.

So, by now, everyone has heard the news from last year that Hasbro has a plan to continue the show for another five years. A lot could happen in five years.

MLP has been known to avoid stagnation by changing things up. They threw us Twilicorn and a story arc for Season 4, and character development lasts rather than being reverted.

However, there are many things that could endanger the consistency of the show's writing. The ever-changing nature of the writing staff is one possible gamble. Another could be Hasbro forcing another thing in the show that would harm the dynamic that has been built up. A possibility is the fact that most of the possible morals and character development could be used up before the end. Though you can change to stave off the effects of time, there is only so much that can change without sacrificing what a show like MLP is all about.

So, what do you see for this show? Do you believe it really is strong enough to continue to give us 5-6 more seasons like the 4 it already has, or will something go wrong before they get there?

Call me an optimist, but I trust the writing staff, even if it's ever-changing. I've yet to be disappointed by anything at all in the show, and they've handled every curve ball that Hasbro threw at them pretty well, so I think they'll make it just fine.

Some shows have been capable of keeping quality high in the past for that long(see Simpsons S1-10, the entirety of King of the Hill). It's difficult, but not impossible

The show has gone through one "low point": Alicorn Twilight. Remember? Everyone started complaining that the show was jumping the shark or what not. And what has happened? Nothing. Everything is still really cool.
Oh, and remember Rainbow Power? People were gonna stop watching the show because now the Mane Six were "too OP" and blah blah blah. And the season finale was. awesome.

I trust the crew workin' on MLP: FiM. They still rock everything Hasbro throws at them. If they continue doing that, then they'll be just fine for the next 5 years.

The show is, at least now, in an upturn. It started out fantastic in Season 1 and has arguably gotten better coming through Season 4. And from what I've seen in that time, I've got no reason to believe the writers can't keep that upturn going.

Well, thus far the writing staff has shown they can keep things fresh and entertaining while still delivering good and relevant morals for kids to learn from.

Was season four perfect? Far from it, but it can be argued that it is the best of the seasons so far. No one, though, can argue against the ambition.

I believe they can pull it off, but it will be difficult. We'll see what happens.

way too short to end it on season 5 think about other shows that started in the 20th century they are still going I've seen some shows go onto S17 as long as the Brony fandom stands MLP will also stand I doubt they will end the show this revolutionizing so early i can predict it ending sometime 2020 unless something happens to any of the actors/actresses so the fandoms gonna be here for awhile and even when MLP is gone I'm a Brony for life

I do think the show will be able to last 5 years, the question is, so will the quality? The last hing I want from the show that we love is that it ends up bad. Of course, I'll be more than happy if they manage to keep the quality in all that time, but I hope they play it safe and leave it at that

By the law of averages they will eventually have another "bad" season like s3. You can't keep going on amazing forever, and eventually they are going to mess up, but in the end I feel like the good, strong, quality episodes will out weigh the 2 and a half or so seasons worth of bad episodes we will have accumulated in the running time of the show.

"What are you trying to accomplish, putting yourselves in danger like that? Trying to see "justice" done? Is that really justice, though? Aren't you just doing this because you want a little spice in your boring lives? What's the difference between that and a criminal who gets his kicks by murdering people? You see what I'm getting at? There's still a lot of time left. Give it some thought."

I'm sure they could pull it off in the long run. Season 4 was amazing, and I'm sure season 5 will be, too.

It's possible. Series have pulled it off before. Of course, if the show ends up continuing after that, who knows how long it can keep its quality? Sure, quality is a subjective notion, but the majority of series that have been going on for more than a certain length of time, have long since treaded into fans only territory, meaning that only existing fans of said series are able to get much enjoyment out of current entries in the series, regardless of the medium, and it no longer rests on its own merits for the uninitiated.

Will MLP:FiM stick around long enough to go down the path of appealing only to Bronies? Maybe. That's all statistically based though. Superhero franchises, for example, have defied all odds, and though not everything in those franchises is pure gold, they've been going on forever, and yet, still maintain their quality. They're exceptions to the rule though, and I highly doubt FiM has decades worth of awesomeness left in it. That said, 5 more years of quality is definitely in the realm of possibility.

Maybe. As popular--and more importantly, profitable--as MLP is, they'll keep it going as long as possible.

The thing we have be concerned about is if the show takes a dip in quality and turns into a "zombie show" like so many animated sitcoms and long running anime/manga.

I have some faith in the creative staff. Twilicorn, Equestria Girls and Rainbow Powers were cause for concern (though the Herd kinda blew things out of proportion), but those worked out rather well. It takes quite a staff to make good material out of shark bait like that.

So the way I see it--
