Mine would have to be a sad one, even if it is so sad. I read My Little Dashie, but had to read the alternate endings for it too (I was too sad otherwise). I read Today, Tomorrow, and Forever, actually just because of this thread, and that was my first fanfic I read ever. I am a huge fan of Vinyl x Octavia fanfics, and read all the ones that I can get my hooves on. My favorite would be either Vinyl and Octavia: University Days, or "Playing With My Heart. Both can be found on FIMFiction.net. However, I don't like ships involving the Mane 6. We know them too well for them to have anything but canon relatiionships (and even those can be bad, with the Flash Gordon x Twilight thing having happened). But still:         VINYL x OCTAVIA FOREVER!!

I'd like to promote an underread story (not my own) that I think is quite decent:

 

Wings Against the Sun

 

Princess Celestia learns that, after a royal wedding, a Changeling invasion, and a investiture of a princess, Equestria is running short of money.  A small loan from the neutral banks of Germaneigh would take care of the problem, and Celestia sends Luna and Twilight Sparkle to negotiate for the loan.  Unfortunately, the Griffin Kingdom would love to see Equestria go bankrupt, and will stop at nothing to see the loan fail--including murder.

 

Nobody said being an alicorn princess would be easy...

Dont go to Rainbow Factory. Story is terribly writen. Makes no sense. No ending unfortunately. But there are some continuations to it that make it good though. Good ending.

I would recommend A story on fimfic called My roommate is a vampire.Its a very funny and kinda heart warming ship fanfic between Octavia and Vinyl.It is still my favorite fanfic after all these years.

"You Brighten My Day" by JaydexTheShadowKnight. I highly recommend reading this one It's a Celestia x Human shipping which is very well written yes it has some clop in it but well worth reading in my opinion.

Hiya everypony! So, as we all know, Season 4 is just around the corner, but it's not here yet. In the meantime, I've been reading fanfics. But, I don't know how to find fanfics that would be to my taste. So, I turn to you guys. I am looking for recommendations of good fanfics to read. I am looking for well-written romances, with minimal clop (some is okay). Any shipping is fine. I just want an intriguing romance.

I am not recommending fanfics. I am asking for recommendations, and recommendations of a specific sort.. Nopony is going to notice my post, or specifically respond to me. They're just going to post their favourites in general. Basically, its a difference between making a suggestion, and looking for suggestions. This thread seems to be concerned with the former, and not the latter, which is what I am concerned with.

 

I am just concerned that my request won't be acknowledged, because that's not the point of this thread.

I think that 'cupcakes' is an important fan-fiction to read as, although it made me feel sick, you need to read it to understand some comments that people make. I also thought 'My Little Dashie' was well written and the ending made me cry.

@Veggiebrony- Speaking of My Little Dashie, someone made a comic version and sequel, both actually thumbs-upped by the original author.

P.S.- Evidently, Dash's "father" resembled Ichigo Kurosaki all along.

As of now(I really need to get caught up, my reading list is huge and my inbox is full of updates):

 

Silent Ponyville(but you may want to skip the last couple chapters of the Silent Ponville 3 and consider it unfinished, the ending is a horrific train-wreck because the author bit of more than he could chew with the final installment of the trilogy) 

 

Creeping Darkness(Very nice Alan Wake crossover, it manages to strike a nice balance between the dark tone of the games, and lighter tone of MLP into something very Disney like, I'd compare it to reading a YA novel) It's also from Pen Stroke of Past Sins fame.
