Who wears glasses and why?

I wear glasses because I am nearsighted.  I don't wear contacts because they are a pain and I decided not to get laser eye surgery because it wasn't a good fit for my needs and the idea of a laser in my eye isn't that appealing.

I wear them. I'm near sighted, and I think I have a slight astigmatism.

I'm not straight up BLIND without them though, so I usually have them off when I'm at home. But if I'm doing something that will strain them like draw, read, or watch TV, I put them on.

I'm also required to wear them when driving, as per the note on the back of my driver's license.

I have a little trouble seeing far distances, it's not too bad right now but will probably get worse, so I wear them when I need to see something farther away.

I wear glasses now. I posted a few months back and yeah. Went from being able to see people and all this junk to coming back to school and everyone is completely blurry.

I'm nearsighted, though it was such a huge drastic change that even the eye doctors thought it was weird. Because it was just the stuff on the projectors that I had trouble reading a few months ago, I could see the whiteboard just not anything on a projector. Went for a check up today and I have about 20/15 with glasses and 20/150 without glasses.

I've worn glasses for as long as I can remember. (~14 years? I dunno,) I'm *supposed* to be either slightly farsighted or slightly nearsighted (can't remember which), as the doctors say, but I can't see anything regardless without my glasses, so it's same difference to me. (In fact, if I take them off and look at this, it looks pretty much like a large grey mass with slight little white spaces in some small places.) I had a little stint with contacts for a couple of years, but they're just not for me. Say what you will, I'm no fan of poking my eyes at all.

Because the sun is too bright and hurts my eyes. Yep, sunglasses is all I got, but to be fair I do wear them pretty much every time I have to drive somewhere during the day if it's not raining. It's become sort of like routine actually.

Eeyup.

We're them because I can only deal with contacts for a few hours. Issues with protein buildup in my tears ducts means they kill my eyes after awhile.

I used to wear glasses for nearsightedness, but that was 6 years ago. I wear contacts now and I enjoy using them since I can use cheaper sunglasses in the car or outside.

god my degree is terrible -8.00 and -7.50

I can't wear contacts cause my eyes are as dry as a desert and also because of THAT OTHER THING I CAN'T THINK OF THE ENGLISH WORD FOR

Wear glasses because I have Strabismus (cross eyed, in my case) & thus have "lazy eye blindness" + far sighted.

No way I'm wearing contacts.  Get up & 1st thing you do is stick glass in your eyes?   :( NO FLAMING WAY! I ain't that brave

I am shortsighted as well. But, I have -12.5 and -11 on my left and right eye respectively. So, -8.5 and -7 is not that bad . Trust me.

I wear yellow gaming glasses. They hugely reduce eye strain, headaches and make games / writing alot clearer as well as looking very snazzy! Normally I am meant to wear glasses but I don't unless it's these.;

I'm near sighted. Also probably losing my vision in general unless I eventually have eye surgery.

Yikes.

Actually my own vision seems to be getting worse, so this topic reminded me to schedule an appointment.

I wear glasses for distance.

My eyesight went to shit because when I was a little kid, I used to play my GameBoy Pocket in the car, without any lights whatsoever. And I would be sitting in the car for about 2-4 hours straight (both ways) since my family would drive state to state on a daily basis. So, by the time we would get home, it would be evening at best. Idk how the hell I was even able to strain my eyes enough to see a tiny, unlit screen like that with no lights lol Q.Q

And yes, it was all Pokemon Red's fault, fyi xD (I ended up with over 600 hours in that game).

Now I've actually got better eyesight than average but my parents both have glasses. My mom is in her early 50s and she now needs reading glasses to read fine text in her books. She previously had perfect eyesight but I think her eyesight is now starting to naturally decline from ageing. My dad became short-sighted when he was going through adolescence in the 1980s. He has ever since been wearing glasses most of the time. He has had to take them of in certain situations like when he's on a wild theme park ride or when he was at a bird avery he had to take them off as the bigger parrots where trying to bite his glasses. He can still see very slightly without his glasses but he had explained to me that he cannot recognise faces properly if you're standing more than three meters away from him. :)
