I think something like a comic reference when Starswirl appear from the mirror. Or even a possibly reference to Equestria Girls. Either way im sure there will be a lot of drama in S5. Especially since VA actors spoiled that Derpy will have a speaking role in one episode.

Will this season bring the CMC cutie marks? Will we see Rainbow Dash parants our even better Fluttershys? How know's what they give use, honstly now when Twilight is queen.. oh i mean princess of magic with her own club house, the story can really go anywhere i suppose. But maby they even try intreduce something new?

I want a decent villain as well, and stop reforming them! I think the only villain I ever really thought had a cool backstory was Nightmare Moon.

There are a few major spoilers for season five:

 

*Episode 100 will be about background characters

 

*A luna episode (although that may be a rumor)

 

*Maud Pie and Coco Pomel will return for a episode

Given what we know so far, the new castle will play some kind of role, as will that society with identical cutie marks. The castle itself will probably play into the overarching premise of the season, but it is mostly an unknown at this point. Will we get some developments that we've been waiting to see? CMC Cutie Marks? Scootaloo flying? Rainbowdash graduating Wonderbolt Academy? Will Twilight's role as a princess finally take root, effectively tying her up with responsibilities? Will this season be at least as good as the last? We don't know. What we do know is that things are changing, and maybe that's just what the series needed to keep it fresh.

As we get into the holiday season, it seems to me that, over the years, a lot of shows have episodes based on Dicken's  Xmas Carol or It's a Wonderful Life.  Well, I don't think any of the mane 6 need to learn about the true meaning of Xmas, but I suppose the CMC could be in a school play about it.  As for "My friends would be better off without me", Spike would be the most likely to feel like that.  Dash would NEVER think like that, or Twilight.  I suppose none the mane 6 would think that (they've saved Equestria too many times).

 

It's probably too late for 2015, but for 2016 try this.  Trixie starring in a pony version of How The Grinch Stole Xmas.  Hey, I NEVER for 1 minute bought the idea that she reformed.  The only thing she's sorry about is, she is sorry she got caught.  (The amulet made you evil? And how, exactly, did you end up wearing it?  A total stranger jumped you & forced it on you at gun point? No, you knew it was wrong & you CHOSE the Dark Side Of The Force.  You went looking for trouble & found more than you could handle.  Cry me a river, but don't look to me for sympathy)

 

Also, I suppose she might team up with Gilda the Griffon.  Gilda strikes me as the type who might hold a grudge & likely blames Pinkie and/or Dash for what happened instead of accepting responsibility for her own actions.

I have an idea for a CMC episode. What if all three got their Cutie Marks LAST YEAR? Each didn't know that the others have too, and were afraid that the Crusaders would break up. To that end, they all dyed their flanks to hide them!

What I hope is that Twilight will struggle with being a princess and that Queen Chrysalis will return. Those are my biggest hopes for season 5.

In one of the MLP chapter books (Twilight's), Trixie did team up with Gilda.  Unfortunately, it wasn't a very well-done story, IMO; it was like Trixie and Gilda both lost interest in what they were doing before for no apparent reason.

 

One thing I'd like them to try for Season 5:  a recurring main antagonist that the mane six can't quite defeat until the season's end.  They keep causing problems, the mane six keep fixing them and chasing the antagonists off, and the stories keep coming.  Hydia, Draggle, and Reeka from G1 would be perfect for a role like that!

Here's what I know is going to happen in Season five

 

1. We know many of the background characters will be featured in the 100th episode

2. We know that Twilight will mourn the loss of her treehouse

3. We know Luna has a nightmare and may get her own episode

4. We know Maud will reappear. 

 

Here's what I think should also happen in Season Five

 

1. The Cutie Mark Crusaders get their cutie marks

2. Discord is featured in more episodes. 

3. Twilight struggles with her increased responsibilities with being a princess

4. Luna gets her own episode

5. Luna appears in one of Apple Bloom's nightmares

6. The mane six go on epic adventures

More world building for Equestria, more development for supporting characters like the denizens of Ponyville and the Princesses, better and more interesting villains and more complex stories and lessons. And also some returning characters and cameos would be nice as well. Cheese Sandwich and Chrysalis maybe? Not together of course, although I bet that would be a funny mix.

I know it's different strokes for different folks, but Worldbuilding is one of the things I love about FiM, and it's something other MLP series didn't have.  I'd love to see more of it in the show!
