If the ponies knew about our violent entertainment, would they accept you?

Let's say you love to watch horror movies, play violent video games, and read violent comic books.

To complicate things a bit more, at least one of these contains images of horses being brutally killed.

You decide to bring all these things with you to Ponyville, along with a portable DVD player and a PSP or 3DS, when Twilight sends you an invitation to her castle. You show them to the main six. None of them are accustomed to seeing such levels of violence, so they're naturally uncomfortable and on the verge of throwing up.

But then a Unicorn spy from outside becomes so thrilled at what you just presented that he decides to steal your DVDs, books and games with his magic. He shares them with the rest of the town, making all the ponies sick.

How do you think they'd perceive you when they figure out where it all came from?

I don't really think they would mind, they probably do the same thing, Power Ponies and Daring Due were action books so their a little bit violent. I think that they might be a little off put if you were play GTA or COD but humans are off put by those games, their horrible and unnecessarily violent. Not so much COD but GTA is truly wrong.

I would think the whole point of going to Equestria and visiting Ponyville would be because one would want to totally escape this world...

Though yeah, I would probably bring all that kind of stuff with me as well though... :/ Hmmm... I don't know... I mean, like we've seen in the show, the ponies are no less perfect than us humans, and are very capable of exclusion and/or resentment. I don't know... Perhaps I would just do what Nightmare Jerremy recommended... Explain it all.

A huge thank you to my great friend AppleGearRising for this signature picture

Thank you Apple, I love it so much!

Normally I would just post the picture, but as it seems, it is too big to put in the signature here, so here is the link to my MLP personality test results:

Dude, why would you start them off with such rough stuff?  You insane or just crazy? (Dad's favorite expression when us kids did something he thought was dumb).  I'd start them off with something milder & see how it went before breaking them in on the hard core stuff.  I'd try Ghost Busters before one of the Halloween or Nightmare on Elm Street movies, Gremlins before Aliens or Predator or Terminator.

As for you, my personal comment "Congratulations, You've just invented Snuff Flicks.  Not many people get the chance to invent a whole new genre."

Seriously, though, Arctofire was right, they've got writing, they've almost certainly got horror novels.  (IMO they've also got horrible novels, but let's not go there).  But, from personal experience, I can tell you that it's a lot more upsetting to see it on the big screen than it is to read about it.

Also, there is a rising level of "What's considered Too Gross To Bear"  If you can look up any of the old EC Horror Comics from the late 1940s, early 1950s your response is probably going to be "THIS is what almost led to comic books being outlawed & did lead to the Comics Code?  What is all the fuss about?"  Or, read James Branch Cabell's novel "Jurgen". It was banned for obscenity, they literally had to take it to the Supreme Court to keep it on the book shelves.  I heard that & I went right out & read the whole thing & I'm like "OK, I read it.  Where's the obscene parts?" (I was young & foolish then.  I'm old & foolish now)

But, that's the point.  You started too rough & now you've got some 'splaining to do.  I'd apologize & try some Scooby Doo cartoons

This reminds me of one of the Planet of the Apes movies. One of the apes from the future (Cornelius?) was witnessing a boxing match that his friend had invuted him to, and by the look on his face, he couldn't comprehend how people found it entertaining to watch someone get beat up.

They would probably accept us, but look down upon that.

They would accept you without any prejudice, but probably showing some sadness towards the current situation.

I'm on a new phase on my human experience, in which I don't see violent entertainment as something "good" nor "bad" Simply, I don't need it anymore.
The same when I went vegan style. It's not like you see your former habits as a "need"

You're not running away from something "negative" anymore, but you look at it with understanding and comprehension instead. Without any judgement, knowing what causes it.

It's a sincere change.

post-18984-0-79845300-1399345014.gif well, lets say ponies are creations of humans, and we added part of our violent nature, that make them not so inocent, but if we imaginate that ponies are 100% inocent like the show and see things we like, some will see us as monsters, others will be confused but in the end, if you wanna change, Twilight and her friends are gonna help you, but if you dont you will be respected but also feared

If I knew any pony, why would I still be playing violent video games?

I guess the worst part of reality for ponies to find out is, there are still many people eat horse meat

The only evil is ignorance.

I would proceed to ignore all criticism and plug my setup in a hard to reach location and install security measures to protect it from thieves or anyone that would want to destroy it

Let's say that I wouldn't bring any violent game to theirs world, because I don't play violent games. Only dexterity or reflex ones.
I don't understand why anybody would make a first glance such not appropiate (hey, we meet first time? lemme show you some brutal killing pony games!).
And if I wouldn't bring any violent games, then that mentioned pony later wouldn't steal it. It's cause and effect relationship.

Afterwards it would be much much happier pony community, everypony would be happy, that someone invited their society. And the next steps are just <your imagination>.

Rainbow Dash probably would be able to deal with it, at least. Honestly, I don't know, but liking violent games doesn't automatically make a person violent and I'd like to think that they're all smart enough to see the distinction, unlike a lot of people in the real world. It's a good way to vent frustrations. Better to kill virtual people/ponies than real ones, right?

If they saw the entertainment that was violent some would think its sill or wrong and some would go meh its a game just like people. The ponies in the series are pretty accepting and clever so I think they would be able to handle it at least as well as your average individual.

May the Friendship be with you.

The ponies are intelligent enough to differentiate between fantasy and reality, and the harmless fun in fictional violence. They'd realize it's inherent in humans and think little more of it. I mean, humans have plenty of violent movies, TV shows and games that show our own species getting killed in very gory ways and we don't think of it as gasp-inducing. I wouldn't be concerned if anypony had a problem with any of this. If they can't see the obvious difference between reality and fantasy, they can judge me freely according to their own standards. It wouldn't bother me.

(I'm pretty sure pony media is a bit violent as well as ours. Well...not as violent. If they had horror movies, it's probably not a bloody, gory and dirty as our movies. But I'm sure pony slasher films would be pretty frightening...!  As for if they would accept us if we went there—I would agree that they likely will.)
