music Songs you love that make you feel uneasy

Here are 2 songs I've always liked that make me feel uneasy when listening them most of the time.

Keane- Nothing In My Way

(2006) Rock/Alternative

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5l-GSDo72c

(I guess this song was in the game FIFA '07)

Pink Floyd-Time

(1974) Classic Rock

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwYX52BP2Sk

This song definitely is more relevant as you get older. I can't believe I'm 8 years out of high school already! :wau:

So what are some songs you like that don't exactly make you feel great when listening?

Rainbow Rocks... at least how it could've looked... in a stranger, more interesting dimension

For those who are wondering, Twilight is chewing bubble gum.

Power To Believe - Dream Academy (makes me feel uneasy in a way that gives me more courage to get stronger. It also makes me think of my favorite historical revolutions and movements)

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

Attack On Titan Bird in the cage

I love it, but its so sad.

Listening to it makes me uneasy because it makes me think of things that might happen in the future of the show.

If you listen to the lyrics (which I don't always, to be honest. =P) folk songs can be rather creepy or disturbing. This one in particular, from the selection of what I love:

This is a really catchy Genesis song, but once you look deeper into the lyrics, you know that it's actually about the dangers of drug addiction.

-Her "touch" is invisible. You can't see drug addiction.
-She will "tear you apart" and "mess up your life". Drug addiction can screw your life up bad.
-She "crawls under your skin." Once you internalize her as a part of your life, you're changed forever, as any drug will do to you.

It's a pretty song, but the two characters die. It's not gruesome or detailed, but it is sad and rather unsettling that they were probably the only humans left in that world, just trying to survive, and then the light of hope is extinguished. Interestingly enough, the music continues after their deaths.

Basically everything by Vildhjarta. Haunting, creepy melodies, dissonant riffs and really low and heavy guitar tone create a very unnerving atmosphere in their songs.

Pretty much everything by D12, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Ice Cube, Notorious B.I.G., Kendrick Lamar, Bizarre, and other rap artists I listen to. Most of the rap I listen to is extremely violent, which is the main thing I have a problem with. They also tend to promote illegal drug usage a ton. A few songs also contain racist, sexist, and homophobic material. Then there's constant profanity and sexual content, but I really don't give a fuck except in the instances when it's involving rape or harming minors (and unfortunately, some of the songs I listen to do include that sort of content.)

The thing is, I tend to listen to this music the most when I'm angry, and when I'm angry enough the number of fucks I give about whatever the fuck they're singing about approaches zero. Besides, it's pretty hard to take some of these songs seriously. Many of them are pretty obviously not intended to be taken seriously.

I wouldn't say that I "love" these songs but I really, really like a lot of them. I can really relate to many of them and it's good catharsis, too. It's a nice way to release my rage and hatred in a way that doesn't actually hurt anyone.

Here's a recent song that made me so uneasy, I almost cried. Both the lyrics, which describes modern society well, and the beat are sad.

Not so much for the lyrics, but the context. The song is about a couple separating during World War II because the man is joining the army. It places special significance on a future point where he'll "come marchin' home."

Now, this is all well and good, until you consider the circumstances behind Miller's death. He died while touring for soldiers in Europe, when his plane went down over the English Channel.

"Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree" is a fantastic song, IMO, but it just feels so odd to know that the man who led the band behind this ode to post-war reunions, was killed in the very war that it was about.

Amoral cynic with a bitchin' vocabulary.

Check out A Century of Song if you like music from before this millennium.

ATTENTION EVERYPONY

Every so often someone posts a video that is completely inappropriate for our forum here. If it has excessive language, racial slugs, graphic violence, or anything that is NSFW ... do not post the link or video here. I know it may be easy to forget a song or video has something offensive in it, but take a moment to watch it before posting instead of going from memory.

Thanks all and stay Fabulous.

Considering the mod post here, I don't think I should post the video. ><

Anyway, there's one song I love that's by Gotcharocka. It's called Virginity. It's... a weird song. Like, I don't want to explain it because it's kind of NSFW. I'll put under as spoiler what Duckie says in a spoiler at the beginning of it of that would be better. Just remember: It's not safe for work what he might say.

Duckie says "I'm got so horny", and it's hot but... makes me feel uncomfortable. >////////<

I love the song, but it comes on at the worst times. XD Like... wtf.

Hotel California: The Eagles

One of my all time favourite songs, but it's creepy as hell. The lyrics speak of an isolated hotel, where those who enter become trapped for eternity. It could be taken as an allegory for depression or alcoholism or madness, but I like to think of it like a straight up ghost story.

There's also a great episode of Star Trek TNG which is practically a homage to this song.

Well for starters, there's 50% of Nine Inch Nails' discography :-P

For some reason, the second version of  "Crawl" by This Way, the one that played for The WB's shutdown, kinda makes me feel uncomfortable. Perhaps because of the WB shutdown association, it makes me think of someone dying slowly, as their life flashes before their eyes. :maud: Great song though. :derp:

It takes all sorts to make a world
Short and tall sorts, large and small sorts
To fill this pretty planet with love and laughter
To make it great to live in tomorrow and the day after!
