Sitting in class can make me think of the weirdest things..

Sitting in class my teacher said that we had to make a poster to explain one of the Buddha Kingdoms (The course is Asian Humanities by the way) When he said that I almost wanted to walk out. "No not a group project, I don't like working with people I don't know!" I thought to myself. Then a better thought came chugging in: "I should ask this on MLP Forums"

So, whats your story? Are you like Pinkie Pie and talk during class to your peers and get in trouble?

Or, are you like me and are so quiet and introverted  you wish to not work with people. If so, has this caused any issues?

Thank for your time!

We had this meeting in one of our classes it was like practise meeting I tried to be more assertive this time other students were there to examine how each individual managed

Meeting started and my classmates started talking it went  a while then I decided to say my suggestion and be assertive I said one suggestion, people were quiet for a while then they completely ignored what I said and continued talking other stuff.

I blushed and I were quiet the rest of the meeting. Then the guy who was there to examine my performance when it was his turn to announce how well I succeeded only thing that he said was that "He tried suggest one thing but no one listened him and he failed" I was so embarrassed I blushed I wanted to hide. People were looking at me I tried not to cry but one tear fell on my cheek.

After that I havent been trying to be assertive anymore

If the class is a subject I find interesting and am fairly knowledgeable about like History or Political Science then I usually tend to speak up fairly often but if it is a class I find boring or am having trouble with than I tend to keep my mouth shut. Overall though I tend to be more introverted than extroverted so an academic environment is one of those few situations in which my more extroverted side can come out. One exception though is certain group projects because I don't particularly like the possibility of having to go down with the ship or do all the work because others will not pull their own weight.

1.During a Presentation dry run,the first member in my group started it well, then it was my turn,I forgot my lines and tried to think of the words in my lines but failed,So there was awkward silence.

2.Typical forming Up Groups situation,It is Obvious,I always didn't get chosen,Then teachers assign me to a random group. Then i think why i didn't have friends in my class  :(

3.Staring into blank space in class waitin' for class to start,Because you have no friends to talk to,Then observing people talking about random stuff.

I'm an introvert in that I prefer to work alone, but I present myself with a great deal of confidence and I like having my voice heard. (For all external appearances, most people assume I'm extroverted until they get to know me.) This wasn't always the case though. When I was in high school, I hated working with people I didn't know and very rarely spoke up when I was put in that kind of situation.

It's actually an odd balancing act I now have to perform as a teacher. On one hand, you have students who thrive in groups and struggle when left alone. Then in many classes, there's that one student who simply can't work with anyone else in the class. I usually make group or pair work optional, so the extroverts can team up and the introverts can do their own thing. It's not ideal, but it usually works.

I'm much of an introvert, but I also like to talk occasionally (if that makes any sense). I can talk to some people, others I can't. It depends on whether I feel comfortable around someone or not. I don't go out a whole lot because I don't have a job (I'm having the hardest time finding one). The only time I really go out is when I need to run errands, go to school, or go over to the occasional friend's house.

Introvert Moment:

This happened on the second or third day of my Honors writing class. Our assignment was to create a "baseball" card talking about ourselves. The day of the presentations, my teacher ordered everyone to sit in a circle. One after one, each person shared their card. When it came close to my turn, I was so nervous; my hands started to shake and I began to sweat. When I presented, my voice was quivering and I could feel my face turning bright red. After I was done, there was an awkward silence then everyone halfheartedly clapped. I was so embarrassed.

Extrovert Moment:

In the same class months later. On Thursday, me and a friend of mine had to do a 45 minute presentation on the first Lord of the Rings movie. I was nervous at first, but I built up courage and smiled as I walked up in front of my classmates. I walked around, talked, and asked questions to the audience like a teacher. In the end, my teacher liked our presentation. I'm pretty sure she's going to give us a good grade for the PowerPoint project.(: I may be a little shy, but I'm building up confidence each and every day.(:

  • 3 years later...

I used to have a job as a cave guide when I was a teenager, and one day I came to work (having had very little sleep) to give a tour to a large crowd, and just started riffing some sarcastic jokes off the top of my head. Once I got going it was like a stand-up comedy routine and everybody really liked it. I don't think I could just do that anytime I wanted. But I had no sleep and my inhibitions were non-existent.

My life is literally filled with "introvert" moments.

As for the otherwise, it has been known to happen, but it's rare. I did talk with my brother for an ENTIRE HOUR about Smash Ultimate and what characters we wanted to play when he visited for Thanksgiving. I guess that's something.
