spoiler What are Mage Metalbrook's 8 enchanted items?

Now this may just be me, but I kinda feel like the amulet trixie had in season 3 was one of the items. (I know this is unlikely, but I'd certainly find it interesting)

Hearts,

Stars,

Horseshoes,

Clovers,

Blue Moons,

Pots of Gold,

Rainbows,

Red Balloons,

Dang I thought they would be two all beef patties, secret sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, all wrapped up in a sesame seed bun.

It's officially called the Alicorn Amulet.

Also, the Inspiration Manifestation (the book that turned Rarity into a green-eyed Discord 2.0) could be another one (Spike did eat the book, true, but the actual magic escaped, possibly to be stored inside another artifact somewhere.).

Wait I've never even heard of these items...Are they from the comics or something?

No, They were mentioned in the season 5 premier when Starlight lied about the staff she used to remove cutiemark being one of these enchanted items.

Anyways, commenting on this.

The mirror is explicitly NOT one of meadowbrook's artifacts; it was built by Starswirl the bearded to enter other alternate realities according to the comics, so he could StealTrade for magical knowledge with other realities. So he's basically the villain from Bioshock infinite more or less but without being religious :P (Hopefully XD)

The alicorn amulet might be one of meadbrook's artifacts as well, but keep in mind it predates equestria-- starswirl the bearded mentioned it to celestia in the journal of the two sisters. so meadowbrook would have had to have made it before the situation requiring them to head to equestria.

And if both the amulet and the Inspiration manifestation book were her creations, what does that say about Meadowbrook? If two of Meadowbrook's artifacts are evil artifacts that corrupt and drive their user insane, kind of speaks poorly of meadowbrook, dontcha think? Nothing saying meadowbrook COULDN'T be evil, but at the same time "meadowbrook" sounds kind of nice for a villain, yeah?  XD

And if Meadowbrooks artifacts were artifacts of doom that corrupted their wielder, You'd think saying you have one of their artifacts would be the LAST thing you'd want to say when making a cult where you portray yourself benevolently XD

That being said, it would actually kind of work from a literary point of view in universe if Meadowbrook created a host of magical artifacts that increased magic but drove the user insane, as there was a VERY real magical crisis of sorts facing the Unicorns in the past. Unicorns who raised the sun and the Moon were essentially being sacrificed for their species: Unicorns just couldn't handle the magical strain of it, and every unicorn who did it inevitably suffered a magical shock of sorts where they burnt out their magic and were left unable to perform magic ever again. This even happened to Starswirl himself before celestia and luna restored him in the journal of the two sisters.

So prior to Luna and Celestia's presence in the Unicorn society, they had a very real problem of being magically unable to handle raising the sun and the moon. It would be very easy for their to be a Morally reprehensible Unicorn mage who sought unscrupulous and corruptive ways to increase a Unicorns magic to that of an alicorn so their species could control the Moon and the sun without the constant problem of burnout.

I thought the name was Metalbrook too, til I heard people say otherwise.

Anyway, my current thinking is an "eastern unicorn" would be one from Monacolt, which I see as being the only place outside Equestria that has unicorns (thanks to one of those German magazine comics showing there only being earth ponies outside Equestria).

Well, thinking about it, with starlight as the 7th pony in the group, counting spike, there are technically 8 characters making up the mane characters of the show now... 8 artifacts, 8 characters :P

That's EXACTLY what I was going to say!

I really hope they expand on these said artifacts, I love learning more about the MLP universe.

(if only we could explore Saddle Arabia and wherever Zebras come from...)

Ooh... maybe for Season 6 with the supposed "Explore Equestria" theme, our characters will be using the map to find the items. Something might be set up in the premiere where they'll need them, kind of like how Season 4 was set up.

I don't think they are going to be explored any further/actually be seen in the show.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Remember the Cerberus when he escaped during season 2? Guess who was revealed to sneak out of Tartarus during that time in S4 finale

I'm only discovering this reference after the season ended. I do hope that the 8 enchanted items do become a part of Equestrian lore. Much like Starswirl's unfinished spell did!

Were the items ever brought up outside of the season 5 premier? I can't help but thing that the items were either retconned once Mage Meadowbrook was more realized for season 7 or that Twilight got her mage/sorcerer ponies mixed up.

Nope, never.  Heck, Mage Meadowbrook was way different than what she was stated to be. Even after she appeared again, nothing is brought up.

Just some pre-reformation Starlight brand BS.

I’m sure that got retconned hard. I suppose the enchanted items were adapted as each pillar’s item
