Irl, if I could have either wings or unicorn magic, I'd go with wings, but I were to become a pony, I'd definitely want to be a unicorn, because I think the lack of dexterity would drive me nuts.  I realize that in the show, they can basically do anything with their hooves that we can with hands, but obviously that's just because it needs to be that way for the context of the show.  All the time you see them holding and manipulating things with their hooves that would never be possible.  E.g. try picking up and a using jump rope with closed fists and you can never open them for any reason.  Or, heck, try reading a book with your fists.  So, yeah, that's why I'd want the unlimited dexterity afforded by unicorn telekinesis.  I guess at that point I'd set off to figure out how to become an alicorn.  I'd have to finish my endgame build, after all.

I'm not a germaphobic or anything, but eww. That is quite disgusting. Plus other things that Earth ponies (and possibly Pegasi) would have to use their mouth for. I think levitation looks like it might be quite handy, even if it's just so I don't have to touch things with my mouth...

 

Of course, i guess this won't matter if you don't plan on having foals as a pony, or taking care of any foals, but still...

 

They can use their hooves and tails as well.

Well for me, I oddly have a affinity for unicorns. Though I'm not beyond just being a good old Earth Pony. It's kinda funny considering how much I love Fluttershy. Ironic really.

Well, I guess they could possibly hold the clean diapers on the tail. But I doubt he could take off the dirty ones with his tail.

 

The hooves I suppose is possible, but it seems really random as to when ponies can use hooves for these things and not. So idk. Plus, why would he use his mouth if he could've used his hooves?

 

There is also when Pinkie tries to change them she does the same using her mouth I believe for the most part, which leads me to kind of wondering if they could use their hooves at all for taking off the dirty diapers. 

 

Pegasi who knows, seems like with wings they'd atleast have no worries about falling over since they can fly when not on all 4 hooves.

 

But yeah, hooves are really weird in the show, so it's hard to say really i guess xD.

 

 

 

 

I'd also like to randomly bring up that I am afraid of heights quite a bit, which Is why I probably wouldn't be a pegasi.

 

Although maybe having wings might change that, who knows. I kind of doubt it, so I think i'll stick to Unicorn.

I gotta reiterate what's already been said about unicorns not all being Twilight. A bit of TK plus one thing based on your special talent; that's what most get. Twilight's one of a kind to the point where the sun goddess and leader of the country dropped everything to personally go see. She became an alicorn, making four known to exist in the entire world. You can learn to get better at your one thing, but you won't be Twilight. You won't be almost Twilight. You won't be almost one thousandth of Twilight. Stop thinking Gandalf and start thinking Fizzy from g1 (minus the teleportation) when it comes to MLP unicorns.

 

But nothing could beat the joy and freedom of flying (even if Dashie is as atypical a Pegasus as Twi is a Unicorn and you'd not reach her level.) Pegasus, ftw.

I'm somewhat of an egocentric perfectionist (ambitious) so I would definitely say Alicorn. While I know that is looked down upon though, realistically if you were a pony and could choose, alot would choose Alicorn. I would live for far longer, giving me time to pursue my unrealistic goals. I would not die from simple accidents as I have earth pony traits, I could fly and preening is an extra responsibility, it teaches patience. I could use magic, which would help massively for my crazy goals. There is no reason not to be a Alicorn, except maybe if you don't want extra attention, which I honestly would not like at first either, but assuming everyone becomes an Alicorn who wants to and Equestria is flooded with new Alicorns, I wouldn't attract too much attention.
