Yes it is free. But Stoner Spike said a few things that makes Avast the best (imo) Also, AVG is a parasprite.. It blocks stuff that doesn't need to be blocked and it's actually hard to fully remove the program from your computer.

 

note: I don't download and watch bundles of porn like other members.

Norton blocks the forums for me twice a day. http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png It blocks everything i try to go to it's never heard of. IMO Norton is the worst.

There is no 'Best' anti virus, some will be better than others, but they all have their upsides and downsides...

I used to use MSE...but I don't use any anti virus any more, because I don't really need it.

AVG free, you can select how much power it drains from your computer so it wont melt and it updates itself and auto scans ALL FOR FREE!

The financial benifits have been doubled!

I've downloaded and used AVG free for the past 5 years and it has done its job rather well, and it doesn't spam you with buying the full version ether,(or at least for me) which is a plus. So I don't see why I would bother switching or even buying the full version when this one works just fine.

I swear to god this is the weirdest thing. My brothers got a new computer and it took 2 minutes just to load a webpage. We deleted norton and it loaded in a split second.

Also, everyone in my family has antivirus. I just use windows defender. Everyone else has gotten at least one virus, and my PC has never had a threat.

Maybe I'm just lucky. 

But you have to admit, that's kind of weird.

I used to use Mcafee, but it's the fucking Devil. My mom accidentally downloaded 2 different versions of Mcafee, and they both mistook each other for viruses. It did not end well.

 

I use Nortan. I like it a lot.

I use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, gets rid of dangerous viruses and cleans my computer of the virsuses. Pretty much, very trustworthy.

My favorite so far Is ESET. I've also tried kaspersky, but that was complete crap, and Norton that's pretty good except it takes up a lot of background and I've had a few issues. I'd recommend ESET for its simplicity and power

My employer provides me with Symantec Endpoint Protection to take home and install on whatever I want.  I find it a bit more reliable than the ones I've used in the past (AVG and Trend Micro).

Malware Bytes, it's a free program but has protected my computer over the years and is extremely reliable to find any trojan, malware, backdoor, etc.

AVG for me I use the pro edition and it is way better than Norton I find. It beats Bitdefender as well I had a total nightmare using Bitdefender I couldn't get it uninstalled so I had to re do my entire system.

Anyone who voted for Norton, just, why? I mean seriously, Norton is so horrible that it's better to have no anti-virus than to have Norton because it just messes with your computer without informing you. It might as well be a virus in itself.

Norton's biggest issue is that it exists. Seriously, Norton is the Windows Vista of the Anti-virus world. Yes, it's that bad. Not exaggerating, I couldn't mod Halo CE because it would delete Sapien and Tool ++ (Without telling me) even when I specifically configured it not to.
