My Grandfather had Alzheimer's before he died, this could be a great boon to those suffering from such diseases. Even more so, it could be the next big step to achieving true artificial general intelligence.

That would be wonderful considering that my ultimate wish in life is to be able to live up to at least 200 years old (I do not think that's asking for much) via some form of medical assistance that I could only hope would come available in my lifetime.

Just to see if it is possible for life expectancy to extend to another century worth of time. Many people live to be over one hundred years, why not add another one hundred years aided by hopeful future advancements in medical science.

 

If I had everything in my favor, I would love to live long enough to witness the eve of the next millennium, but I'm not greedy. I certainly do not wish for immortality.

My question is, even though you want to live long enough to see the possible changes in the world that may come during that time, why would you prefer to spend more time stuck in the suburbs working?

 

Ultimately what matters is that if this truly does get developed fully and put into use, this will be a great help for people with neurological disorders. That should be the primary focus and not enhancing what we humans already possess. That can come later

If anything, video games have given a fairer case for A.G.I. than most movies have and even that's changing, thank GOD! Assuming all A.I. to be evil and destructive, why? Is every new baby born treated like a terrorist or serial killer waiting to happen?! Is the propsect of new intelligence bad just because it wouldn't be human? But I digress, props to all hear who are seeing the positive potential this technology has and not regurgitating what you saw on Terminator, the Matrix, or Lawnmower Man. But.... if we are not careful it could also destroy humanity.... in the form of transhumanist, misanthropic psychopaths that will lead us into becoming the Reapers from Mass Effect. And could even become hive minded under the command of one machine's mind. 

 

As Reapers, we will no longer be human and may destroy any other sapient alien race in the universe we deem as inferior.   

 

 

If we are to become machines... let us watch over stupid, weak organic humans as guardians... not overlords. We must remember that it was organic humans that created us and we are their children. 

 

As good children we look after our parents.

I see Reaper in everything! I could name other things I guess, but I'm lazy.
