Title says it all. Are there any video games you'd never thought you would enjoy or even like, but then it turns out that you loved playing it in the end?

One of the big things I thought I would not enjoy was the Final Fantasy series. Particularly FF7. The reason I outright hated it was how it looked in the pictures. I was more into graphics back then so I skipped it. Then came FF8, it looked good, had good reviews so I bought it and I was immediately hooked. Some time later I regretted not buying FF7 and by that time it was not available in any store... in my country at least.

The Binding of Issac was one game I thought I wouldn't be able to get into. Now, it's one of my favorite games ever, not just in the indie game department either.

I had preordered Alpha Protocol when I first saw the trailers for it since it looked really good, and when it came out it had terrible reviews.  But, I owned a copy of it because of the preorder, so I begrudgingly started it up one day and discovered that it was severely underrated.  It's actually one of my favorite games of all time, and I hate how much negative feedback the game received.  I think that killed any chance it has for a sequel.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2.

This gem had appeared at first to be a childish game. Then I saw the beauty of the game's plotline (So much depth! No spoilers here, Ms. River Song), mechanics (the RPG elements are done better than in the main series!), and soundtrack (Brine Cave has one of the best OST pieces ever!)

It's my 11th favorite game of all time!

I thought Bioshock would end up being another generic, overhyped FPS. Turned out to be one of the best games I've ever played

I thought that Call of Duty: Advance Warfare would be as horrible as the other CoD games (my opinion), however, the game surprised me and I turned to really like the game :). The story was what got me mostly to like it :)

Oddly enough The Sims is all that comes to mind.

I first played it on the GCN - which was, to be blunt, awful. I found nothing to like about the game, it was just frustrating. I have no idea what compelled me to try the PC version, but I did and ended up liking it better... But, oddly again, for building. Much like the GCN version, actually playing the Sims in the original was a chore. It wasn't until about The Sims 2 Seasons where I started actually playing the Sims... Before then I was still 'scared' of playing them because it was so frustrating in The Sims 1. Lol.

The Mass Effect series. ME1 almost scared me away after spending hours fighting with its clunky combat before getting locked into a mission I was far too under leveled to complete, and I was very apprehensive of playing ME3 after the scorched-earth level of rage that erupted following its universally hated ending,to the point it took me months after beating ME2 to even consider giving the third game a shot.

To name a few:

Skyrim - I thought I wouldn't be able to get into it, as most RPGs I played were quick-paced combat focused ones, not slower-paced with rich lore. When I first played, as a mage, I wasn't too entertained, but I had tons of fun after with a warrior and thief!

Borderlands - I didn't really like the first game, and still don't, but I had a blast playing Borderlands 2, especially as Zer0 :D

Heroes of the Storm - Being a MOBA, I thought I'd not like it at all, despite having some cool stuff. Even though I avoid all MOBAs like the plague, Heroes is one I occasionally play, at least VS bots :P It feels a lot more fun and relaxed, which is perfect for me~

Euro Truck Simulator 2. It's a game where you drive a truck around a scaled-down Europe, delivering cargo and making money. It's surprisingly... fun and rewarding, and now I have trucker stories without ever having actually driven a truck.

Thanks Obama.

Advanced Warfare multi. Actually I still hate the piece of filth game and wasted $100 on it but I feel as if I'm enjoying it to use Scorestreaks I wouldn't see in Black Ops 2.

Adding onto this is the fact it's hard to find any lobbies which I have no idea why I'm torturing myself just to get fun streaks. I'm not good at the game either.

For me it would be the Metal Gear Solid series, I'm playing the games in the years they are set in from past to present day. I played the 3rd one and I'm on to Peace Walker. But I feel as if I should get a PS Vita to play Portable Ops to fill in some plot holes.  Even if it isn't made by Hideo Kojima from what I'm told. I played the 4th one a while back, I might play it again to get the complete story.

Fallout 3. Admittedly, I had no idea what the game would be like going in, except that the PS3 version was supposedly buggy to the point of unplayability. I hated it at first, but after spending several hours playing, I got completely hooked and couldn't put it down.

I now own every Fallout game, and consider it one of my favorite series in gaming.

-Zelda Wind Waker: yes, I was one of those who had a bad impression with the art style. No need to guess how it turned out in the end XP

-Super Princess Peach: A VERY girly game, in fact, it was marketed to girls, but after finishing New Super Mario Bros, I needed some more Mario because I was unsatisfied with the NSMB. Then, I've dared to buy Peach's game, expecting to be even more underwhelming than NSMB...... how wrong I was. It's one of my favorite and most played DS games ever, and also a strong contender of my top Mario games. The only reason it doesn't make it to my top 5, it's because Peach faces an overwhelming competition. Yes SPP is a great mario game, but surprassing the likes of SMB3 or SMW is no easy task

Stubbs the Zombie for the original Xbox. Odd case with that, I remember constantly seeing the demo on a demo disk and I was like, nah, it looks uninteresting and bleh. Then I finally played it and I could not stop playing that demo. XD I loved it. Still one of my favorite games ever, even if it is short. I would love to see an HD re-release for the game, it was so underrated.

Yay, another PMD2 lover! Brine Cave and Hidden Land had kickass OST. I loved both of the dungeons, Brine Cave for the character development-tastic boss battle and Hidden Land for the boss and the difficulty.

As for me, I never thought Half life was my thing. Then I got that crowbar and the answer suddenly dawned on me; jesus, this game is awesome.
