I always thought that could be a possible explanation. I mean, love does manifest as an actual physical force. But that's a bit too otherworldly in my opinion. It would also defeat the purpose of sexes and romance.

Probably not that much different than how pregnancy works in real life, the only major question I can think of would be how long their gestation period would be? With humans it is 9 months and horses it is 11 months though since these ponies are much smaller than horses I would think their gestation period would be closer to human length but then again since magic has such an influence in Equestria it might still be 11 months anyway.

Oh goodness, the g3 ponies breeding like parasprites...quite an image.  Those ponies were so tame and perfect though, I couldn't imagine them doing something so gross.  They probably get babies from a stork or the cabbage patch.  Those little goodie-goodies.

That is another valid hypothesis. My second hypothesis is that G3 ponies are like Asari from Mass Effect, and can reproduce without the need for males in particular as long as they have a partner that play the role of father. That would explain the whole Sky Wishes/Star Catcher debacle. Mitosis is also an idea I have entertained from time to time, though a form of it where the daughter pony is not identical. Hey, in magical pony world there's room to allow for things that would not be scientifically valid in our world, especially given that ponies are multi-cellular organisms, I think. For all we know they could be microscopic, as long as their world is proportionate in size. There is of course the possibility that they resulted from some lab experiment.

I would assume that it is roughly the same as a pony, which would be roughly the same as most mammals, such as le humans. That being the whole fertility shabang.
