Why do Bronies like Plushies?

On a more serious note, I like them because they're as close to an actual pony as we can get, until they make life sized pose-able figures.

I've always had a preference for plushies over dolls or action figures. I have a build-a-bear fluttershy and a knock-off luna (Season 1 style) and I find them super comforting to hug at night and if I'm busy in my room with work they make it less lonely.

Why bronies specifically? It's not like there's a difference between them and other people when it comes to liking plush dolls.

 

But then again, I could never understand why owning a plush doll is considered childish either. I mean, many plush dolls do certainly look cartoony and colourful, but just because there's somebody who owns them doesn't mean always that they're stupid or they play with them. I own a lot of plush dolls because I like collecting them and how cute they really are.

Idunno about Bronies, but - while not strictly necessary - we, at times, use the plushies as vessels to help facilitate some forms of physical contact.  This is particularly true while sleeping.

Let me break it down from the view as me Selfie Horse.

So back when I first joined this colorful horse fandom I found myself asking myself the same exact question, Like I had no clue...but intill My good friend, Miss Nervous Stitch (Yes the one from the forums) made me a plushie from the straight just kindness and generosity from her heart and our friendship.

so bottom line I learned that having a plushie and being a brony can be loved for many reasons, My personal opinion on the matter is that I have a plushie of well My Horse, that's me...in pony form. aha

It really depends on the person who owns/likes plushie why they enjoy them.

 

Some people, like myself, collect them, and some even sell them when they're worth a lot more. I collect tons of types of plushies, including ponies and even Webkinz.

Others, however, like to cuddle with them. A lot of people with anxiety or depression cuddle with a plushie when they're feeling down. When I'm unhappy, I cuddle with the Pinkie Pie plush I bought for the sole purpose of using as a comfort item when I need it.

And it's also because Bronies like having physical objects of the ponies they adore, and many even commission plushies of their OCs.

It's just something a lot of people like.

I still have my plushies from the day of birth. Mind you, most of them tucked away, but that hasn't stopped me from buying more.  I think as it's been said, it's as close as we'll get to meeting the actual characters from the show + it gives us the option of showing off the side not many people see. I've liked plushies before I was a brony. I'vegot countless Lion king and other Disney plushies(among video game based ones) Though, I do have 8-9 Fluttershy plushies scattered about my room. One of which I sleep with. I just find plushies so huggable and snuggly soft. Puts me at ease when I go to sleep, having something in my arms. Even more so knowing it's a Fluttershy plush I'm hugging. It's also the closest I"ll ever get to being with the real Fluttershy.

I think the main reason we like plushies, myself included, is that is gives us a sense of comfort and allows us to be close to our favorites characters in the show.

 

I myself love the Royal Family, and despite how much I hate how the writers are treating them sometimes in the show, especially in season premieres/finales, as long as I can cuddle my OnlyFactory and Build-A-Bear plushies of Celestia, Luna, and Cadance, along with the OnlyFactory ones of Shining Armor and Twilight, it makes me feel better and sleep soundly at night.

Because everybody likes plushies of some kind.

Most of us grow up with some kind of plushie ever since we`re babies, and as such, our brains naturally make the connection that plushie = good.

Plushies unconsciously bring us pleasant memories and there`s nothing that the human brain likes more in the world than pleasant memories.

We like plushies for the same reason we like to look at old photos or play old videogames, us humans love nostalgia and plushies are nostalgic to almost everybody.

Personally, I don't care for plushies. I believe that people who do, like them because they're soft and huggable. They're also comforting to snuggle with, even though they're not alive.

 

When you think of it that way, plushies actually seem quite appealing.

 

Some bronies like plushies because it's as close as they'll ever get to snuggling with a real pony.

As previously mentioned, closest one can get to a real MLPFIM pony. I avoid official plush toys and instead collect 4DE ones... though supposedly they will no longer make future MLPFIM toys which is a great shame because they have what I consider to be fan-made quality and affordability.
