Her name is FLURRY Heart. Is it not at all possible that this could be her special talent? I'm sorry, I just don't see how we can judge this until we have seen the episode.

The fact that it was done so effortlessly is crappy. Also, if that IS her special talent, giving it to her so early makes her a Mary Sue as well as OP.

Not necessarily. She didn't know what she was doing. Just like Pumpkin Cake didn't know what she was doing when she phased through her baby gate. Pumpkin won't remember how to do that as she ages. It's just raw, powerful magical bursts. And if baby alicorns are as gifted with magic as we can presume they are, then one accidentally casting a massively destructive spell isn't that shocking.

 

I can absolutely believe that Luna and Celestia could probably do the same thing when they were babies. And while we don't KNOW this, I personally think that their alicorn parents were around and knew how to handle it. But Flurry is the first alicorn to be born in probably THOUSANDS of years. No one knows how to deal with her.

 

And historically yeah, magical babies don't do the best things to stories. However, I'll bet you a cookie that Flurry will just be a big deal in the premiere and then only appear in a few episodes the rest of the season.

When it comes to these premieres, I'm more curious than furious; Curious about what's going to happen rather than furious that the series has "jumped the shark". Honestly, as long as I'm getting entertained by the show, the new pony problem won't bother me.

Yeah, I'm really hoping that what she does simply ends up triggering some sort of chain reaction that leads to the blizzard, because the notion that she can cause a potentially life-threatening blizzard on her own with next to no effort whatsoever is utterly ridiculous.  :okiedokielokie:

 

Furthermore, it's really getting on my nerves that the writers are only strengthening every last notion the fandom has about alicorns being extraordinarily powerful just for the sake of it. Ultimately, it just paints alicorns as the most special race in the world, and every other pony race is inferior.

I also don't like that they're going to have a two part premiere focusing on the baby.

I feel like the Starlight and Sunburst sub-plot was added at the last minute because they realized that they couldn't fill up an hour of time with just the baby.

Inferior, superior... I feel these terms don't really have a place here.

So what if alicorns ARE objectively more powerful? It doesn't make them objectively better ponies. A lion isn't better than an ant because it happens to be big and powerful. Both have their places in the world, and they are important places. And being very talented doesn't automatically make you a worthwhile person. Just look at Hollywood.

I get where this argument comes from, but the episode will have 44 minutes. We have less than one fifth of the episode. There could be twists hidden in the stuff we haven't seen.

He's thinking that Flurry Heart didn't Make the storm, the storm was already happening in that area, she caused the crystal heart to act up and thus the protection from the perpetual snowstorm went down and the Crystal empire was getting hit with it like they would be getting if it wasn't for the Crystal heart in the first place.

i think I know what the problem is... with the look of Flurry Heart's mane I think she has been born with Rainbow Powers on top of being a baby alicorn. No wonder they can't do squat against her.... all we need now is to see her wreck Discord and the unholy tri-force is pretty much complete XD

Like others have said, I think it's just logical. Pumpkin Cake is a baby unicorn that did REALLY advanced spells. She didn't need training, she just had completely unfettered magic flowing through her. And if alicorns just naturally have more magic than any other kind of pony, I imagine the kinds of spells they could accidentally let loose as infants would be really dangerous.

Have to agree with the general perception.  Seems very misguided to completely overpower a character out of the gate in a show that is by its very nature an ensemble piece unless you plan on either killing that character off or maybe have her evolve into a singularity and warp out of their universe or something

The theory doctor wolf proposed was that she had disrupted the Crystal heart, which was the thing blocking the perpetual snow storm in the first place. Remember that area had been covered in an overpowering blizzard before? So its Flurry heart didn't make the storm, she just ended up letting the storm in, which is considerably less impressive.

Well I guess the fandom will end, just like it did back in 2013 when Twilight became an alicorn or later that year when the Equestria Girls movie came out.

 

Seriously, bronies acted like those were the worst thing they ever did and yet everything kept spinning and the show kept going. Clearly these things were not bad enough to get enough people to stop watching the show to end it, so I am sure this will be absolutely no different. Stop overreacting considering we all know that a majority of the people upset by this are just going to keep watching. Hell we still have people mad about Twilight being an Alicorn that are STILL HERE. ACTIVELY WATCHING NEW EPISODES, and ACTIVELY HATING THEM.

 

If you hate it so much, just stop watching. Stop making it out to be this big deal.

I more or less expected this, and I don't even care.  I'd rather have a superbaby in the premiere with crazy, untamed powers than another villain who is either thwarted by their own stupidity or reformed at the last second for no good reason.  (Assuming that there isn't another villain like that behind whatever the hell's going on.)
