So, what's everyone's thoughts on ember as a potential new love interest for spike? Do you think they should try and keep her just as a friend of spike and not try to tease any romantic relationship between the two, or would you like them to possible shiptease a little?

 

And in such a situation what should be done with Rarity in regards to spike? would you enjoy a bit of a love triangle going on?

Ember as a love interest for Spike possibly could hold him over if he can't get over Rarity or something. But having them remain as friends can be an alternative.

I didn't really get a love interest vibe. At most, there was blushing when he hugged her, but it seemed more like it came from how she wasn't used to physical displays like that, such as how she used only two fingers to do a handshake with him earlier.

 

I could maybe see them becoming interested with each other years from now, where their age difference would be less noticeable, but for now I don't think Ember's interested in him like that.

She's a bit old for Spike. Then again, the marital laws might not be the same in their world. The episode emphasized their blooming friendship, nothing romantic unless a male and female must always mean romance. Maybe another episode down the line will suggest a potential romance between Ember and Spike. If so, the relationship between Rarity and Spike will need to be fleshed out because it's 6 seasons in and not too much has come out of it. Maybe that potential romance will alert Rarity, and then she will get her act together.

 

Overall, I doubt there will be a love triangle since Spike showed no attraction toward Ember unlike his first sighting of Rarity.

excluding the fact that they're both dragons.. Spike would be able to talk to Amber (I prefer amber than ember) to teach the ways of friendship like how twilight did to starlight..

I'd say Spike has a much better chance with Ember than Rarity for multiple reasons. First, they're both dragons. I don't know how fast dragons grow, but Ember seems to be a relatively young dragon compared to the rest. Second, Ember is adorable and who wouldn't want to be her friend. And third, this is probably just me being insane, but Ember blushed when Spike hugged her. Was that just her being embarrassed, or maybe she kinda likes him.

 

Anyway, who knows! But Spike needs to get over Rarity.

Obviously there would be a much higher chance at a relationship here because, well, they are the same species. Something I noticed though in the episode was that Spike never showed any signs at all of having any sort of love feelings for her. That to me is rather interesting as the writers could have easily done something like that, but they didn't. Spike clearly wanted to be a friend of hers, nothing more.

Nope. I don't really want to see any sort of love triangle happen in the show.

The last time something like that happened was in Simple Ways and I didn't really like that episode.

Plus I didn't get any sort of romantic vibes between Ember and Spike. Especially seeing how the former is way too old for him.

I would rather see more of their interactions as platonic friends throughout the season.

You can't really complain about the Ember x Spike age difference when rarity or any of the mane 6 are much older than Spike. The mane 6 are virtually adults, this is a definite. Also, the show hasn't confirmed the age of Ember, for all we she could be the right age for spike. She's still practically a 'daddy's girl' I would say she's quite young.

 

Personally I'm glad they introduced Ember not really as Spike's love interest, but a dragon friend he can relate to (not just pony friends) Although I still feel Spike x Ember ships are far more tolerable than Spike x (pony) ships.

It didn't seem like the writer's were forcing a new love interest for Spike but rather developed a more natural approach to meeting someone new. Spike's friendliness comes from the heart and the way he befriended and trusted Ember like he would have done to anypony else. Ember and Spike in a relationship seems more plausible as they have the time to get to know each other normally without any romantic pressure. Now with Rarity, Spike's first glance at her was probably done for a comedic effect but in truth, a dragon and a unicorn can't possibly be in a relationship.

A pug and a great dane could be the same age and one would still be far larger. 

I say this because she did not look like the same kind of dragon as Spike. 

Meaning for all we know, she could very well be the same age. 

 

Those dragon all looked like they were different breeds.

I agree with a lot of posts in here already, but there's one thing nopony has actually brought up in here yet: If they did get together in love, then Spike's going to move out of Ponyville and into the Dragon Land Ember is Lording over in.

 

Because of this reason, I honestly don't see it happening yet. Maybe when the final season is here, then it could happen as Spike could then decide to go his separate way when as the show comes to an end. For now, I don't see it happening, mainly because I feel the writers still want to keep him in the show and in Ponyville. Obviously Ember wouldn't move to Ponyville because she has the duty as Dragon Lord.

 

On a different note. They both did show some signs of a bond there. Could be more of a friendship bond, could be more of a relationship bond; Not enough details to truly give an exact answer. I don't doubt we'll see Ember a few more times in the upcoming episodes. Spike most likely will play more of a role in those episodes, too.

Well you hardly move in with someone you want to go out with. You give them a call, take em on dates, hang out, have fun ect.

 

Luckily there is a way Spike can be called to Ember that has been established. 

 

 

Her scepter can make any dragon under her charge glow whenever she wants them. While it hasn't quite been established, I'm betting you can do it with just one dragon at a time as well as the entire brood of them. Thus, If Ember wants him, she can just use her Scepter to tell him "Hey, your dragon lord requests your presence half pint"

Honestly it makes more sense to see Spike and Ember together as opposed to Rarity and Spike, but I don't think the show will go for a romantic interest for Spike.

"end game" type scenario there ; Spike living with twilight forever IS possible given that she's got a castle that he could be the steward of, but most people wouldn't want to live with their big sister forever (and if he were in a relation with Rarity, he'd probably have to move out as well).

 

If there were to have a "Big finale" type ending where they definitively ended things and showed how all of them were going to be living out the rest of their lives, I could see spike moving out and shacking up in the dragon lands: that doesn't mean he wouldn't still visit though: Shining armor and Cadence live in the crystal empire and they're still very in touch with the mane six.

I can see a possible relationship between Spike and Ember, but not anytime soon. I can see them developing a stronger friendship if we see more episodes of them together. Then maybe down the line it will help them gain some feelings for one another and possibly turn it into a relationship. If there was a love triangle, I think it could be interesting. Maybe Rarity could have Twilight help her with a spell that could change Rarity into a dragon. Then that way she could probably understand Spike on a better level and possibly return his feelings.

Spike's short romance with Ember seems to be just that - a fun tease to get fans excited and stir up gossip. Spike himself didn't show any real signs that he had any romantic interest in Ember. He saw her more as a friend. He didn't fall head over heels for her like he does with Rarity or get unusually nervous. 

 

As for this whole racial compatibility thing, I can't say I agree with it. Spike should choose to love something that shares his interests and understands him, not someone that happens to be the same race as him. It makes as much sense as saying that Blueblood and Rarity would make a great couple by virtue that they're both ponies and unicorns, which as we saw in Season 1 was proven false. 

 

There is potential between Spike and Ember, if its ever developed, but as it stands, he shares more in common with Rarity and Equestria than he may ever will with dragons or Ember.
