Best case scenario this is like the King of the Hill Mower or Spongebob April Fools episode where they take the prank too far and apologize in the end and ends in hugs.

I'd say it's possibly another example of a character going completely out of character.  Rainbow Dash should beyond pranks by now..    Season 1 Rainbow Dash yes, but she should of matured by now.

Is it just me, or is this season steadily becoming [insert episode title] Part 2? No Second Prances was What About Discord Part 2, Newbie Dash was Rainbow Falls Part 2 and Spice Up Your Life was Treasure of Griffonstone part 2. And now we have the potential for Mysterious Mare Do Well (a.k.a the most infamous episode of Friendship is Magic even after Magical Mystery Cure) part 2. I can't deal with another MMDW, i just can't...

 

Seriously, someone on the writing team hates Rainbow Dash with a passion, cause none of her episode this season have sounded too appealing. The convention episode before this also sounds like it could very quickly devolve into cringe if not handled carefully.

While my first thoughts are MMDW 2.0, I'm also thinking about how much is revealed in the synopsis. I remember a lot of people complaining about Flutter Brutter before it aired, about how from what they knew of the synopsis it sounded like Fluttershy was going to have to relearn the same lesson from IAEBB. However, she shows her assertiveness right from the start, which makes sense. An episode synopsis shouldn't be giving away the resolution. It's usually just what gets covered in the first act, maybe going into the second act.

 

So my thoughts went to how would the rest of the episode go if the others pranking Rainbow Dash is already used by the second act. Then I started to think, what if, like Rainbow Dash in this episode, their own pranking gets out of hand? Just like in MMDW where in their attempt to teach Dash a lesson about watching her ego, even they were starting to boast about how great MMDW was, specifically complimenting their own abilities. Only this time the story would actually call them out on it and they would all learn a lesson about how easy it is to let things go to far. It's deliberately calling back to MMDW to address one of its biggest issues.

 

At least, that's the best idea I could come up with to make this plot work out.

Yeah, but every full season (except season 2) each Mane Six gets at least three episodes, and even if she does get just two this season, she hasn't had an episode of her own at all. Guess because Pinkie did alot in season 5, she's gonna be left with less this season?

Soooo... are those people who complained about TOO MUCH RARITY going to complain about Too Much Dash now? Cause she's literally starring or co-starring in 3 episodes in a row. And it looks like she's going to have THREE actual solo episodes this season. While Rarity doesn't really have any.

But something tells me they won't..... The fandom just worships Dash too much for that.....

Hey I liked Testing Testing, Griffonstone and I guess you can KINDA Count Rarity Investigates as a joint focus episode.

I dunno, people seem to be complaining about the content of the episodes themselves, I mean this episode sounds a lot like MMDW, which is still one of the most controversial episodes in the show. Plus this episode looks like it'll focus a lot more on the remane 5.

 

And again, I think it's less "too much Rarity" and more "not enough of everyone else"

The current incarnation of Rainbow Dash has been too stupid to prank.  Personally, I have hopes that this episode will give us back a Dash who actually thinks a bit as opposed to idiot ball Dash.

I really don't care either way. I'm only curious about the two more Spike episodes that were promised, and how they will play out; and also whether Babs is doing anything special this season. So you won't be seeing any of this complaining from me unless I'm making a joke!

Rainbow's always been kind of a dumb jock, but she must have lost about 80 IQ points during Newbie Dash. 

 

How on EARTH did she interpret, "Do something to make yourself stand out" to mean, "Imitate all your friends"?
